Summary

FBI special agent Julianna James is a top-notch negotiator who has never lost a hostage。 Surely, she can manage to take care of her much younger sister, Dottie, who showed up unannounced to live with Julianna while she finished her senior year of high school。

A former sniper with the 75th Ranger Regiment, Clay Snyder left the army after a tragic incident that he can't get past。 Now he's working as a high school resource officer until he can figure out what to do with the rest of his life。

Their paths cross when Julianna is called in to negotiate a courtroom hostage situation involving Clay's sister。 Impressed and a bit intimidated by the calm, capable woman with the dark hair and blue eyes, Clay invites her to speak at his school。 Dottie's school。

But as the anniversary of a school shooting from Julianna's past approaches, it becomes clear that her perfect record is about to be tested and that Dottie is at risk。 If Julianna and Clay can't figure out who's behind the attacks, more innocent people will die--and Julianna just might be one of them。

This intense story of revenge and redemption from bestselling author and master of suspense Lynette Eason will have you up all night as you race toward the explosive finish。

Or will their past continue to have power over them and shadow their lives? This book was amazing in every way! The plot was fast paced and had unexpected twists that kept me guessing for the most part of the book。 The romance was slow burn, sweet and clean, and not the main focus of the book, just like I love it in this genre。 The characters were well developed and likeable。 Julianna was a strong determined woman, eager to sacrifice and serve others。 She had a rough youth, and I admired how she became a better person because of it and not the other way around。 I loved her relationship with Dottie and their love and how protective they were of each other。 I would like to see Dottie or Reese’s story in another book。 They were good secondary characters。 Clay was a swoon-worthy hero! I loved his protectiveness of Julianna and their sisters。 I loved he was courageous, yet humble enough to learn from others。 The faith inspired theme of healing past mistakes and accepting God’s forgiveness and true freedom, so they could start anew without the weight of the past was touching and inspiring。 I also loved the way they asked God for help in small and big needs。The villain’s point of view helped me understand what was in his/her head and his/her motives to target Julianna。 It was a bit scary though。All in all, an amazing story I highly recommend to any kind of readers! It’s so intriguing you will not be able to put it down!I received a complimentary copy from the Publisher but wasn’t required to post a positive review。 This is my honest and unbiased opinion。 。。。more

Crossfire is book two in Lynette Eason’s action-packed Extreme Measures series。 This book can be read on its own, but I’ve loved the whole series and strongly recommend you read book one just because it is also excellent。 I have to admit that I wasn’t sure I’d be able to get into this book – not because it isn’t great but because I’ve had so much going on in life lately that I didn’t see myself being able to stop and concentrate long enough for it to draw me in。 I was so wrong。 By the second cha Crossfire is book two in Lynette Eason’s action-packed Extreme Measures series。 This book can be read on its own, but I’ve loved the whole series and strongly recommend you read book one just because it is also excellent。 I have to admit that I wasn’t sure I’d be able to get into this book – not because it isn’t great but because I’ve had so much going on in life lately that I didn’t see myself being able to stop and concentrate long enough for it to draw me in。 I was so wrong。 By the second chapter it had sucked me in。 It is a fast-paced story that will grab you from the beginning。 Julianna James is a hostage negotiator with a stellar record and Clay Fox is a former Army Ranger unable to let go of past mistakes。 When a specter from Julianna’s past returns to seek revenge, they find themselves working together to eliminate the threat。 I was fascinated that the killer turned out to be ---- well, you’ll just have to read it to find out。 There were just enough twists and turns to keep me guessing up to the end。 Just when you think you have it all figured out, there’s more!Eason also does an excellent job of weaving faith throughout the story。 Julianna has never been able to move past a traumatic experience from high school。 She struggles with guilt and hasn’t been able to let herself fully live。 Clay is struggling to forgive himself for past mistakes and to trust God once again。 Eason seamlessly interweaves their struggles to trust God, to forgive and be forgiven。 I loved watching the characters grow and develop as the story progressed。 And of course, you know there’s going to be some romance!I highly recommend this book (and the whole series)。 I will note that this book deals with an active school shooter situation so be aware if that’s a difficult topic for you。I received an ARC copy of this book from the author/publisher and was not required to write a positive review。 All opinions expressed are mine。 。。。more

What can I say but Lynette Eason hits another home run with her books! This was an absolute great read。 I loved the intensity of Julianna as well as the high stakes job as a negotiator she has and getting to know her more as well as her sister Dottie。 Then throw in Clay and getting to know him and his sister, Reese。 The characters captivate the audience from the get-go and the action begins and continues throughout the story。 Wonderful job of Book 2 in the Extreme Measure Series。

Crossfire by Lynette Eason is the second book in her Extreme Measures series。 This story opens up with intense action, bringing the characters together under extreme circumstances。 And while the story is fast-paced and full of action, it is also not rushed or unrealistic。 I literally did not want to put this book down。 One more chapter is not an option! I just don’t want to ruin the enjoyment of readers by giving away the various threads in the story。 Julianne’s history is slowly revealed as readers learn why she chose to work in the FBI and how Dot came to live with Julianne。 The two sisters have a very tight bond。 I liked how the author portrays their family dynamics with reality。I couldn’t stop reading the book! Every time I thought Lynette was winding up the plot, some event or person would appear and off the story raced again。 There is romance in the book, but it isn’t really in the forefront as much as the faith of the main characters。 Julianne and Clay both come from past experiences that shape their character and outlook on life。 It was exciting to read a tale where people go out to serve and protect each day, sometimes at the expense of family or recreation time with friends。 I highly recommend the book and series, as well as her other exciting books! I look forward to the third book in the series being released in 2023!Note: The opinions shared in this review are solely my responsibility。 。。。more

Crossfire by Lynette Eason is one of her best books to date and that is saying a lot。 The opening negotiation scene will have your heart pumping。 Julianna is a highly trained and capable FBI negotiator who is also trying to support her sister in her last year of high school。 I thoroughly enjoyed getting a behind the scenes look at how Julianna worked the negations, and her positive female friendships。 Clay meets her at the first negotiation because his sister is one of the hostages。 Clay is a fo Crossfire by Lynette Eason is one of her best books to date and that is saying a lot。 The opening negotiation scene will have your heart pumping。 Julianna is a highly trained and capable FBI negotiator who is also trying to support her sister in her last year of high school。 I thoroughly enjoyed getting a behind the scenes look at how Julianna worked the negations, and her positive female friendships。 Clay meets her at the first negotiation because his sister is one of the hostages。 Clay is a former army sniper and currently the school resource officer where Julianna’s sister attends high school。 The two sisters were a perfect addition to the story。 Lynette handles some tough topics; school bullying, school shootings, friendly fire in the military, abusive relationships, PTSD and dealing with guilt and forgiveness。 Although this is the second book in the series it can be read as a stand alone and you do not feel that you missed anything。 Penny from the first book is mentioned but the storylines do not tie together。 I highly recommend。 Crossfire has compelling characters and a story that draws you in from the first scene。 I couldn’t put the book down and finished in less than 24 hours。physical - kissingViolence - several hostage situations, several deaths, I received this book from Netgalley。 I was not required to write a positive review。You can see my full review at More Than a Review dot com where I rate the level of sex, violence, language and drug/alcohol use in books。 。。。more

Crossfire is book 2 in the Extreme Measures series by Lynette Eason。 Even though it’s the second story in this series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone。I really enjoyed Crossfire。 It kept my interest the whole time。 I felt like it was perfectly paced。 There was enough action to make it interesting, but not so much that it was unbelievable。 I spent most of the story trying to figure out who the bad guy was。 I love when a story keeps me guessing until the very end! The romance took more of a backseat than I normally like, but since Julianna and Clay had just met, and I’m not a huge fan of insta love, it was more believable to me。 I’m really looking forward to book 3 in this series。 There are also teaser chapters at the end of Crossfire that have me more than ready for Targeted, a novella collection, that contains Daria’s story! I received a complimentary copy of this book。 All opinions are my own。 The faith thread is light。 。。。more

Lynette Eason has once again done it with ease, dropped us right into an explosive situation。It's fascinating to read about the different branches of law enforcement。 and the main character law enforcement officers in this series are women as well which makes it so we get a women's perspective of the problems。This one is a FBI special agent top-notch negotiator。 I've never read one where a negotiator was the lead。 My son is a LEO so these types of books fascinate me。 There is so much to learn。Th Lynette Eason has once again done it with ease, dropped us right into an explosive situation。It's fascinating to read about the different branches of law enforcement。 and the main character law enforcement officers in this series are women as well which makes it so we get a women's perspective of the problems。This one is a FBI special agent top-notch negotiator。 I've never read one where a negotiator was the lead。 My son is a LEO so these types of books fascinate me。 There is so much to learn。The book was pretty intense with so much going on, nonstop action。In this one, it got personal the suspect wants to take what they believe is well deserved revenge for a past incident。Former sniper with the 75th Ranger Regiment, Clay Fox can't get FBI negotiator Julianna off his mind but is there a chance a romance will happen with so much action happening? When a hostage situation that hits too close for comfort ,these two are racing against the clock to try to make it right。 Kept me reading late into the night。 I had to see how it ended。 Highly recommended!Pub Date: 02 Aug 2022 I was given a complimentary copy of this book。All opinions expressed are my own。 。。。more
