Summary

A laugh-out-loud funny look at pop culture and social media stardom from one of the most popular funemployed millennials today, perfect for fans of Next Level Basic and The Betches。

As the creator of the breakout Instagram account @GirlWithNoJob, Claudia Oshry has turned not wanting an ordinary career into a thriving media company and pop culture-focused podcast and morning show。 The origins of her pop culture obsessions can be traced back to household debates over boy bands, and her flair for the dramatic to her young emulation of Blair Waldorf。 When she started @GirlWithNoJob, Claudia entered that world herself as a social media influencer, sharing her unbelievable—and unbelievably awkward—encounters with some of her favorite A-listers as she navigates her incredible access。

Now, in this juicy, behind-the-scenes look at the life of an Instagram sensation, Claudia leaves nothing out as she contemplates staying true to yourself while hustling in today’s digital culture。 Sometimes the best lessons are learned the hard way, and her journey hasn’t been without its punch-in-the-face doses of humility。 But, like anyone with a relentless desire to be popular, she dusts herself off and finds a new, better way forward。 With humor and unique insights, Claudia examines the nature of social media celebrity, the many sides of fandom, and cancel culture。 If there’s one thing she knows for sure, she was born thirsty, and she’s here for another round!

As a long term listener Morning Toast Podcast (which claudia as co-host) I was excited to get a deeper look at some past controversies in her life (i。e getting canceled。 Claudia put it all out there and I was impressed that she did not hold back

If you're a fan of TMT, you'll enjoy this book。 If you're expecting a juicy tell-all about Claudia's controversial mother, skip it。 I loved her celebrity encounter stories and her experience and views on cancel culture。 I recommend the audiobook because it feels like an especially long episode of TMT。 If you're a fan of TMT, you'll enjoy this book。 If you're expecting a juicy tell-all about Claudia's controversial mother, skip it。 I loved her celebrity encounter stories and her experience and views on cancel culture。 I recommend the audiobook because it feels like an especially long episode of TMT。 。。。more

Love a good memoir! Claudia kept it real and still kept it funny。 She made some great points about cancel culture that a lot of people don’t think about or consider。 It was a fun book to read and getting more details on things that happened in her life that we all followed along with, but didn’t know much about。 I love seeing her growing from experiences and being open and honest with fans。 It was an easy read and I found my self laughing out loud often。

I’m a new fan of Claudia Oshry and I decided to give this book a try。 I LOVED IT。 I finished it in one night and I want more! Oshry put it all out there in this book and her honesty and vulnerability are inspiring。 As someone who has lost a parent, I related so strongly to what she said about the grieving process。 Oshry’s writing style is conversational and so easy and entertaining to read。 I will be sharing this book with friends and family and I can’t wait to dig into The Morning Toast back ca I’m a new fan of Claudia Oshry and I decided to give this book a try。 I LOVED IT。 I finished it in one night and I want more! I love books from celebrities for all the behind the scenes we scoop & their perspective。 I usually listen to them to make it more like a podcast。 I did that with Claudias book and it was really good! She’s so funny but this had a lot of vulnerability to it and somethings I didn’t know about her!

I listened to this on audible which may have been the root of most of my qualms。 At times it felt like an essay written for class。 Sometimes it sounded like she ended sentences with question marks rather than periods。 Overall, I enjoyed it。 It was fun, light hearted, and had some moments of true vulnerability。

Listened to the audio book。 I personally enjoyed the celebrity name dropping and Hollywood parties the most。 It is pretty repetitive but I love a memoir into a life I can't even imagine。 I thought it was entertaining and I liked hearing her narrate。 Listened to the audio book。 I personally enjoyed the celebrity name dropping and Hollywood parties the most。 It is pretty repetitive but I love a memoir into a life I can't even imagine。 I thought it was entertaining and I liked hearing her narrate。 。。。more

I listened to this as an audio book and loved it! I’m a regular listener of her podcast (a toaster!) and once I heard Claudia read an excerpt on the Toast, I knew an audio book would be for me。 I found myself tearing up at parts and laughing out loud at others。 I appreciated how honest she was about positive and negative things that have happened, and I found some things out I didn’t know before。 If you want a lighthearted and funny read/listen — I definitely recommend!

The podcast that Claudia cohosts got me through the deepest darkest pits of quarantine, and this book gave me a deeper look into her family life & career background that she hadn’t previously shared。 The chapter about her sisters and their late father was especially moving。 I’m a sucker for celebrity memoirs and this was no exception

This was everything I wanted and then some! As a fan of Claudia’s for quite some time, I really thought I knew everything there was to know about her, but I was wrong。 This book offers a delightful insight into the inner workings of a life that we believe we know everything about。 It’s hilarious, honest, and it really solidified what a true queen she is。

I’ve always been a big toaster and I really liked this book! I often find autobiographies go into too much detail about minor life events but this one DIDN’T。 It was short and truly just such a little treat。 I loved learning ab how Claudia grew up in a religious family and hearing how much she cares about her faith。 (Something celebrities don’t often talk about) I also loved her opinions on the toxicity of cancel culture。

Isabel

I read this book because I’ve followed Claudia for years and can relate to her in a lot of ways。 Her perspective on how toxic cancel culture can be was interesting。 While she took accountability for her own actions during her cancellation and apologized, i can’t believe she wrote a whole ass book and again, refused to speak about her mom, who is one of the most bigoted, ignorant individuals in America。 The “she’s my only living parent” excuse only works when your moms not an actual terrorist。 Ca I read this book because I’ve followed Claudia for years and can relate to her in a lot of ways。 Her perspective on how toxic cancel culture can be was interesting。 While she took accountability for her own actions during her cancellation and apologized, i can’t believe she wrote a whole ass book and again, refused to speak about her mom, who is one of the most bigoted, ignorant individuals in America。 The “she’s my only living parent” excuse only works when your moms not an actual terrorist。 Calling this woman a “conservative” is a cop out。 If you don’t acknowledge and denounce her views, how believable is your apology and and your entire new brand of being woke and self aware? It’s a no for me dawg。 Also, Claudia repeated herself so much i kept asking myself why her editor let her write a 200 page run on sentence。 It was cute overall but just no。 。。。more

Overall a good read from an Instagram/ social media influencer, but I do wish she got into the family dynamics more and how her views may differ from her mother。 I felt like she could have done this in a way that was not bashing her mother。 I’m a toaster so I may be biased but I do wish she would have commented more on her family dynamic。 I do wonder how her mother felt when her daughters were “cancelled” in part because of her。 I think Claudia could have gone deeper and I feel like this was a m Overall a good read from an Instagram/ social media influencer, but I do wish she got into the family dynamics more and how her views may differ from her mother。 I felt like she could have done this in a way that was not bashing her mother。 I’m a toaster so I may be biased but I do wish she would have commented more on her family dynamic。 I do wonder how her mother felt when her daughters were “cancelled” in part because of her。 I think Claudia could have gone deeper and I feel like this was a money grab and in no way a deep or insightful look into Claudias life。 。。。more

I was so pleasantly surprised by this book! It was so well written & funny! I really loved the chapters on weight & cancel culture。 Ive been a fan of Claudia’s for a long time & am hoping this isn’t her last book!

I would truly give this a 3。5 if I could! Enjoyed hearing about stories Claudia has never told or hearing her go in more depth about her experiences we know of already, but I felt like it was a bit inauthentic from how she represents herself online/on the podcast。 Maybe she is actually more like this book version but I felt like there was some disconnect and it was a bit over exaggerated。

Overall, this was a fun, quick read。 I am long time fan of The Morning Toast and even subscribe to their Patreon for extra content。 I agree with Claudia’s thoughts on cancel culture。 I think this was her chance to finally address the relationship with her mom that has been hanging over her for so long and she didn’t take it。 In her promotion of the book, she said she specifically addresses this but it was 1-2 sentences。 The whole book was very surface level (which is okay and what I was expectin Overall, this was a fun, quick read。 I am long time fan of The Morning Toast and even subscribe to their Patreon for extra content。 I agree with Claudia’s thoughts on cancel culture。 I think this was her chance to finally address the relationship with her mom that has been hanging over her for so long and she didn’t take it。 In her promotion of the book, she said she specifically addresses this but it was 1-2 sentences。 The whole book was very surface level (which is okay and what I was expecting for the most part) but I was left wanting a little more even if it was just generally addressing what it’s like to be associated with someone who is considered to be controversial。 Did she consider the cancellation a possibility during her rise in popularity pre-2018 due to this relationship? Have the family dynamics changed? Maybe even a more detailed timeline of that day。 I think there was a tactful way to go deeper into this topic that that could have helped the audience understand her and her thought processes over the past 2 years。 Very few people can relate to her in this way so more of an explanation of the dynamics would have been nice to hear。 。。。more

This book is great for people who are fans of The Morning Toast and Claudia Oshry。 As an avid listener and follower, I enjoyed reading Claudia’s book and found myself laughing out loud and even tearing up a time or two during the parts about losing her dad and her love/gratefulness for her sisters。 It is pretty much on par with what I expected her book to be— a light and fun read, but very surface level。 4 ⭐️ to support Girl With No Job!

Thought she did a great job articulating her cancelation and comeback。 It felt genuine, she learned and she grew and she’s better for it all。

AAAAMAZING。 CLAUDIA, that’s BEAUTIFULI literally preordered this book as soon as it was announced and had it delievered to my parents address at the time and since they live 30 minutes away and it’s a huge pain in my ass to go out there sometimes, I bought a copy on my kindle and read it to its entirety at work。 That’s how real and refreshing this book was。 Congrats, Claudia!!!!

Full disclosure: I had no idea who this person was before I started listening to this audiobook。 Because of this, I did want less memoir and more cultural insight and from all of the marketing and descriptions, I did think that was what we were going to get。 Instead, we got an author that was canceled and doesn't want to confront that maybe they should have done more about the reason they were 'canceled'。 I think the author should have waited to write this when she had more perspective。 A pandem Full disclosure: I had no idea who this person was before I started listening to this audiobook。 Because of this, I did want less memoir and more cultural insight and from all of the marketing and descriptions, I did think that was what we were going to get。 Instead, we got an author that was canceled and doesn't want to confront that maybe they should have done more about the reason they were 'canceled'。 I think the author should have waited to write this when she had more perspective。 A pandemic is not an excuse to write a book in order to check a influencer checkbox。The main glaring issue is that she never recognizes her place of privilege that's been given to her by the money that she has and the color of her skin。 Her mother and family have said racist things and hold racist beliefs, that she briefly acknowledges。 She says she should not be held responsible for what others say or think, but that is exactly the opposite of we should do in order to confront racism in America。 I think the author is young and still learning and she will realize this, but she has not yet and it was disheartening to learn。 I will not be following her instagram or her podcast。All that being said, there was one chapter on grief that I thought was really authentic and touching。insta: bookduorecs 。。。more

A terribly boring waste of time。 Poorly written, with odd racist undertones throughout。 The pick me energy was loud。 Offered nothing of substance。 Interesting to find out after reading this that the author herself has publicly stated many times her aversion to reading。 It shows。

Amazing!!! I laugh, I cried, and I understand!!!! So much respect for Claudia。 While I was reading it I could hear it coming from her mouth at the talented speed which she talks, and it brought such a smile to my face! I can’t wait to listen to it on Audible!
