I really liked this story。 it does a great job of introducing Jon, as he goes from being an apprentice to the the powerful guardian。 It was a great glimpse of what made him who he is。 I laughed and smiled through most of it even with the battles Jon faces。 I did a great job at covering the high points of is rise in power as the Guardian he is in the main series。 Well worth reading for the history and introduction to the realms。

I love backstory, and this quick read does a wonderful job of helping the reader understand where Jonathan came from。 It follows his path from before he was orphaned to his taking up the mantle of Guardian。 Not having read Ronah, Book 1 in the Lissae Series beforehand, I was initially unfamiliar with references of Innarn, Altoriae, and the like。 But before the end of this short work, I understood enough to not be bogged down by the unknowns。 If you are hesitant about getting in to this series, t I love backstory, and this quick read does a wonderful job of helping the reader understand where Jonathan came from。 It follows his path from before he was orphaned to his taking up the mantle of Guardian。 Not having read Ronah, Book 1 in the Lissae Series beforehand, I was initially unfamiliar with references of Innarn, Altoriae, and the like。 But before the end of this short work, I understood enough to not be bogged down by the unknowns。 If you are hesitant about getting in to this series, this book is a great way to test the waters。 I don't think you will be disappointed!*I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author via Voracious Readers Only* 。。。more
