I hope there will be other readers out there who do not like the change in Stone Barrington。

As always you have to love Stone Barrington。 I love Stone but keep thinking that one day he will settle down with one woman。 This story had everything that makes a great Stone Barrington novel。 I love all the characters and all the action。 These are easy books to read and are very enjoyable。 I received a copy of this book from edelweiss for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will。

Hmm。 I'm torn about this one but caution those who have not read the series that this is not the place to start。 Stone Barrington, our usually suave and intrepid hero, finds himself entranced by Mob assassin Hilda。 Unfortunately, her love interest Sal isn't happy about this, leading Stone to retreat to the UK but of course it's not that easy。 Hilda's got a job to do and that's problematic for a lot of people。 And of course Stone doesn't listen to his friend Dino, the NY Police Commissioner。 Ther Hmm。 I'm torn about this one but caution those who have not read the series that this is not the place to start。 Stone Barrington, our usually suave and intrepid hero, finds himself entranced by Mob assassin Hilda。 Unfortunately, her love interest Sal isn't happy about this, leading Stone to retreat to the UK but of course it's not that easy。 Hilda's got a job to do and that's problematic for a lot of people。 And of course Stone doesn't listen to his friend Dino, the NY Police Commissioner。 There's sex, there's violence, it's not deep。 The characters are sketchier than usual but luckily the plot is twisty。 Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC。 。。。more

Ugh, this was ghastly--a Stone Barrington I did not recognize and never want to meet again。 I'll remember the light, fun, intelligent books about getting the bad guys caught and stopped, but always in line with the Code Duello, with honor。 In addition, the writing was so poor I was shocked:"Tara seemed to like the master suite。 'I like the master suite,' she said。"Seriously? In his home in England, well-staffed in previous books, we find the boring morning with it's improbable find: "The followin Ugh, this was ghastly--a Stone Barrington I did not recognize and never want to meet again。 I'll remember the light, fun, intelligent books about getting the bad guys caught and stopped, but always in line with the Code Duello, with honor。 In addition, the writing was so poor I was shocked:"Tara seemed to like the master suite。 'I like the master suite,' she said。"Seriously? In his home in England, well-staffed in previous books, we find the boring morning with it's improbable find: "The following morning, after sex, breakfast, showering and dressing, he came across a sealed envelope addressed to him。""came across" --again, seriously? And typos--don't remember typos in the previous 57 books。Ugh。 。。。more

As is usually the case, Stone Barrington meets a beautiful woman and they wind up spending the night together。 But this is not just any woman - she has some skills that Stone is unaware of。 And when Stone sees her with the head of the NY mob and his consigliere, things get very complicated。 Stone heads to his English countryside home (with yet another woman) to be safe, but soon learns that he has been followed。 He thinks he has cleared things up and returns home only to find that things are wor As is usually the case, Stone Barrington meets a beautiful woman and they wind up spending the night together。 But this is not just any woman - she has some skills that Stone is unaware of。 And when Stone sees her with the head of the NY mob and his consigliere, things get very complicated。 Stone heads to his English countryside home (with yet another woman) to be safe, but soon learns that he has been followed。 He thinks he has cleared things up and returns home only to find that things are worse。 This is the 58th book in Stuart Woods’ Stone Barrington series, and I must say it was a little different than most of the earlier books that I have read in the series。 As always, there are appearances by characters that we are familiar with but there are many others that I do not recall having met although it seems there is some history with them。 It took a long while for this story to get going and for a while I didn’t think it ever would。 But once I figured out where the reader was being taken, the story became much more interesting。 This is a different Stone Barrington - not with respect to his sexual escapades - but in his approach to yet another threat against him。 Overall not the best in the series, but Woods continues to crank out quick, entertaining reads。 My thanks to G。P。 Putnam’s Sons and Edelweissfor the ARC of this book。 。。。more

I used to be a big Stone Barrington fan but the last several books by Stuart Woods are beginning to be repetitive and without much of a plot。。。not to mention the sex。 Please Mr。 Woods, bring the old professional Stone Barrington back。 Class Act is not a class act。

I always look forward to reading books about Stone Barrington and his gang, but this is a departure。 Usually we see Stone gamboling about in beautiful houses with beautiful women, but this book is quite a departure。 Within this multiple murder plot, the reader has to examine many questions of morality。 The lack of ethics demonstrated by the characters did provoke an examination of motives for murder。 Is there ever justification? Stone’s total lack of discrimination in selecting sex partners, and I always look forward to reading books about Stone Barrington and his gang, but this is a departure。 Usually we see Stone gamboling about in beautiful houses with beautiful women, but this book is quite a departure。 Within this multiple murder plot, the reader has to examine many questions of morality。 The lack of ethics demonstrated by the characters did provoke an examination of motives for murder。 Is there ever justification? Stone’s total lack of discrimination in selecting sex partners, and even the role of a fictitious police commissioner during these days of political corruption can also be discussed。 This is not your frothy Stone Barrington novel, rather a morality tale。 When does the good guy become the villain? When does friendship become a total ethical lapse? Yes, I enjoyed this thinking man’s book, a departure from all the earlier novels。 Thank you Netgalley for this unusual book。 。。。more
