This was so goood！ I love short story collections and I loved how all of these stories were connected。 I actually haven’t read from many of the authors in here， mostly because I don’t read much YA anymore， but I liked some of the stories so much I would definitely consider picking up some other titles！

This is a YA novel but interesting in that it is written by a number of different authors。 A bit like the old game where you add a sentence to someone else's story。 In this each auther picks up the same story or an aspect of it and builds on the previous author's creation。It is set in NY in a blackout and all the characters are black young people。I think it is a novel idea and enjoyed the story but did find the street talk language style a bit irritating but I am a white older woman so youngster This is a YA novel but interesting in that it is written by a number of different authors。 A bit like the old game where you add a sentence to someone else's story。 In this each auther picks up the same story or an aspect of it and builds on the previous author's creation。It is set in NY in a blackout and all the characters are black young people。I think it is a novel idea and enjoyed the story but did find the street talk language style a bit irritating but I am a white older woman so youngsters may well be in tune with this。I think for anyone not in tune with black street talk it could add to the challenge for some youngsters。It not only gives young black people a romance where they are the central characters but also has at least one part of the story where two girls become romantically interested in each other。It would certainly open up some interesting discussions within a classroom environment。 。。。more

I loved this but I just wanted so much more。 This book feels like an incredible tease， but， for what it is， it’s kinda perfect。 It focuses on this one moment in time and how this blackout forces some of these people to thing about what they really want/expect out of a relationship and leads some others to make new connections that maybe they wouldn’t have made if it wasn’t for this specific situation。 I enjoyed it so much。

Books like these are why I keep trying to find YA books I like。 I might not finish them all， but when I find one like this， I’m glad I keep trying。 I also enjoyed the structure of the book itself， wherein one longer story was interspersed in alternating chapters with the stories that followed other characters。
