Summary

What an interesting read。 I wasn't sure what to expect with this one。 But I really enjoyed it for what is was。 The art was stunning and complex。 The characters were interesting and intriguing。 If you find a copy, give this book a chance。 :) What an interesting read。 I wasn't sure what to expect with this one。 But I really enjoyed it for what is was。 The art was stunning and complex。 The characters were interesting and intriguing。 If you find a copy, give this book a chance。 :) 。。。more

I liked it, but it should’ve been longer。 There’s a lot of cool ideas shown here that don’t fully get fleshed out because of the runtime。 It felt like a rough draft of a story instead of an actual story。I really liked the art style。 I loved how it combined grittiness and colorfulness and I thought it was done very well。 I liked seeing Jun’s adventure play out but you don’t get to know her that well as a character because of how short the book is and because of how many things happen in the story I liked it, but it should’ve been longer。 There’s a lot of cool ideas shown here that don’t fully get fleshed out because of the runtime。 It felt like a rough draft of a story instead of an actual story。I really liked the art style。 I loved how it combined grittiness and colorfulness and I thought it was done very well。 I liked seeing Jun’s adventure play out but you don’t get to know her that well as a character because of how short the book is and because of how many things happen in the story。 So many emotional moments would’ve hit harder if they had the proper time to happen。 Some scenes don’t fully play out, they just kinda end and move on。 I appreciate what the author tried to do, as this book has big goals, but PTSD is way too short for those goals to be realized。 。。。more

I picked up and read this book on a whim。 It was on the shelf ontop of some other books on my husband's shelf and I picked it up while I was waiting for him to finish something。 I ended up getting immersed in the story and had to finish it all in one sitting。 It does have some really dark elements to it so if you are easily triggered by violence, etc。 I would use caution going into it。 Overall though, the art is fantastic and I enjoyed how it ended! UGHHH THIS BOOKS ART。 THE ARTTTTTTTT IS SOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL。 The amount of DETAIL is incredible, each panel is an entire illustration on its own, I cannot IMAGINE how LONG this must of took。 I loved it all, the character designs, earthy toned watercolour art, poses, fight scenes, the architecture。。 even just the guns they looked so freakin cool。 This was the dystopian scifi graphic novel of my dreams and I ates it up。 I am so glad I have a copy because I could do some real studying from the art it UGHHH THIS BOOKS ART。 THE ARTTTTTTTT IS SOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL。 The amount of DETAIL is incredible, each panel is an entire illustration on its own, I cannot IMAGINE how LONG this must of took。 I loved it all, the character designs, earthy toned watercolour art, poses, fight scenes, the architecture。。 even just the guns they looked so freakin cool。 This was the dystopian scifi graphic novel of my dreams and I ates it up。 I am so glad I have a copy because I could do some real studying from the art itself。For the plot, it was really solid and I can’t really see much wrong with it to be honest。 Just a great book overall however I could totally see this not being some people’s kind of book because of the amount of gore, fighting, shooting, drugs, explosions etc etc。 。。。more

Not quite the heartwarming tale of community I expected ((view spoiler)[seriously, when Jun went on her rampage right after being given a companion that would love her unconditionally, I swear I got whiplash (hide spoiler)]), but interesting enough。The abysmal treatment of veterans is, it seems, universal, and Singelin doesn't shy away from the tough truths。 They're damaged and fearful and wary, and don't accept help easily。 But they long for community and safety, too。 Jun, though, is particular Not quite the heartwarming tale of community I expected ((view spoiler)[seriously, when Jun went on her rampage right after being given a companion that would love her unconditionally, I swear I got whiplash (hide spoiler)]), but interesting enough。The abysmal treatment of veterans is, it seems, universal, and Singelin doesn't shy away from the tough truths。 They're damaged and fearful and wary, and don't accept help easily。 But they long for community and safety, too。 Jun, though, is particularly isolated and fiercely independent, and pushes everyone away - which makes it hard to root for her。 And it's clearly Singelin's style, but people's legs looked so dumpy and weird when they wore pants it was honestly a little distracting (it feels like all of Jun's proportions are off - her torso and head are way too small compared to the rest of her)。 Could have used more fleshing out, maybe。 。。。more

So whilst the art is gorgeous I felt it could be a bit crowded at times。 But still very very pretty and an interesting story but I wish that the switch was more incremental instead of all at once。 Time has passed but it isn’t that obvious。 I did see the Tampopo in this book that the author took inspiration from and when I read the authors notes I was glad that I could point that out。 The characters not great and I never really warmed up to them maybe if we spent more time with them and Grey? Following jun was amazing throughout all the struggle and I also want to give kudos not just for a big climax but also a very good execution of falling action and resolution。 It didn’t feel tacked on, it felt warned, and helped hammer in juns growth and impact on the world

PTSD is the definition of eye candy。 Every single panel of this novel is filled to the brim with love and attention。 The warm color palette, and exceptional character and environment design make for one of the most visually pleasing comics I’ve read to date。 While the story leaves much to desire, it has good foundations that make it all more of a bummer that it’s rushed to its conclusion。

Probably some of the best artwork I have seen in a graphic novel。 Absolutely stunning。It was an interesting story of a vet returning home from war and trying find out how to return to life。

For the older teen [one random boob towards the end of the book] - the plot is more mature discussing the repercussions of war and the stigma attached to soldiers fighting for an unsupported cause。 Plus the realization that the government doesn't support veterans in a healthy way that would help to integrate them back into society when they get back home from wherever they were stationed。 I thought that the art style is nice。 Hectic, but it matches the energy brought by the plot。 I also like the For the older teen [one random boob towards the end of the book] - the plot is more mature discussing the repercussions of war and the stigma attached to soldiers fighting for an unsupported cause。 Plus the realization that the government doesn't support veterans in a healthy way that would help to integrate them back into society when they get back home from wherever they were stationed。 I thought that the art style is nice。 Hectic, but it matches the energy brought by the plot。 I also like the visual choice to have the title be carved out of the physical cover of the book。 Little details。 Final notes: - Multiple scenes of violence- On-page character death- Cute animals [none die]- Drug use/addiction as a coping mechanism for PTSD- On-page scenes of war 。。。more

Pretty strong piece of work。 3。5/5 stars in my opinionI really enjoyed the art style, quite unique and modern。 I also really loved the changing colour paletes that were implemented。 I thought that this was a very strong design choice to covey a change of emotions/settings and to tie the stories together。What I liked the most of this book was the "grit" behind Jun and the other homeless characters in the story。 I felt like the emotion of being helpless, caught in a cycle, and not knowing where to Pretty strong piece of work。 3。5/5 stars in my opinionI really enjoyed the art style, quite unique and modern。 I also really loved the changing colour paletes that were implemented。 I thought that this was a very strong design choice to covey a change of emotions/settings and to tie the stories together。What I liked the most of this book was the "grit" behind Jun and the other homeless characters in the story。 I felt like the emotion of being helpless, caught in a cycle, and not knowing where to start to try to stop or improve said cycle was emphasized perfectly。 I also liked how the mom had to "earn" Jun's trust through her displays of benevolence。 I think this is an aspect of healing that not enough people discuss。 Learning how to trust again when you have gone through trauma is super difficult, even when you have an intuition that the person is being honest。With all this being said though, the plot is pretty flat。 Not much happens in the "present" to be honest。 However, maybe that was a stylized choice。 However, I think a part II following Jun and her urban helping buddies while being housed would be cool。Powerful and short read, nice story, great/unique artwork, and strong design choices made throughout。 Would love to read more of the author's work at some point in time。 。。。more

Excuse me, I think you got some of your realism in my escapism。 This was beautiful and dark and gritty。 Don't let the cutesy art style fool you, this deals with some heavy topics that definitely doesn't feel fictional or uncommon in the real world。 Jun, a soldier back from a war struggles with drug addiction and re-integrating into a society as a civilian and not a soldier。 While I'm definitely no expert I wish this delved a little deeper into PTSD, we get splashes of it throughout but for the m Excuse me, I think you got some of your realism in my escapism。 This was beautiful and dark and gritty。 Don't let the cutesy art style fool you, this deals with some heavy topics that definitely doesn't feel fictional or uncommon in the real world。 Jun, a soldier back from a war struggles with drug addiction and re-integrating into a society as a civilian and not a soldier。 While I'm definitely no expert I wish this delved a little deeper into PTSD, we get splashes of it throughout but for the most part it's Jun's vigilante and violent tendencies that shine through the most, painting a bright contrast with how her actions affect a society dealing with the same problems as her。 (The other veterans and not society as a whole, though it does affect civilains too who happen to be around her) I loved this for it's story, while not deep it's definitely believable and affecting。 Also a big fan of the artwork (think Bryan Lee O'Malley meets Adventure Time) and scoured for anything the artist has done。 Not the best I've ever read but a great read and one I won't mind getting lost in again sometime。 。。。more

This is an incredibly beautiful depiction on a very serious issue that is so often over looked。 The artwork is fantastic, the story is both heartbreaking and heartwarming, and the approachability is welcoming! Not only is this a fantastic read for an adult, but would also be a fantastic read for a young adult trying to better understand a difficult situation。

As an AI language model, I do not have personal opinions or experiences, but PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) is a well-known mental health condition that can affect people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event。 There are many books available that explore the symptoms, causes, and treatments of PTSD, including "The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma" by Bessel van der Kolk and "The PTSD Workbook" by Mary Beth Williams and Soili Poijula。 "PTSD: A Short History" by Allan V。 Horwitz and "Tribe: On Homecoming and Belonging" by Sebastian Junger are other books that offer insights into the trauma caused by war and violence。 Ultimately, reading a book about PTSD can provide a helpful starting point for those looking to understand this complex condition, but it is important to seek professional help and support if you or someone you know is suffering from PTSD。
