Summary

There's no real reason that we find out as to why Auren was treated better than the rest of the prisoners。 I am assuming its because Commander Rip is Fae and feels like since Auren is like him, she deserves better? Or do they think that Mida's golden touched saddle is caged and doesn't know the real world so they felt sorry for her?Again, A LOT of questions and looking up the first one I kinda spoiled something and now I am worried about the next two books。 。。。more

I had a much more enjoyable time with this book than the first。 The prose improved significantly from the first book to start。 The main character is flawed in the most understandable ways and her self reflections are relatable so even as she frustrates me with her choices, I cant hold it against her。The other female characters from the first book are still frustrating to deal with, but the inclusion of Lu was a breath of fresh air。 It was nice to have at least one character who empathized with A I had a much more enjoyable time with this book than the first。 The prose improved significantly from the first book to start。 The main character is flawed in the most understandable ways and her self reflections are relatable so even as she frustrates me with her choices, I cant hold it against her。The other female characters from the first book are still frustrating to deal with, but the inclusion of Lu was a breath of fresh air。 It was nice to have at least one character who empathized with Auren。 My biggest gripe with this book was the use of the word “male” every time Auren referred to Rip。 It ripped me straight out of the book every time it happened to the point I found myself highlighting it every time I saw it just to rage。 It never flowed naturally with the sentence and was unbearably stupid。 Just using the word “man” would have improved the flow by tenfold。 On occasion other characters would call women “females” which aside from being dehumanizing also sounds awkward in conversation and made me roll my eyes。 I’m not looking forward to this trend undoubtedly persevering throughout the series。Aside from that issue, I wish there had been a better way to build toward the first kiss。 It felt so out of the blue and unearned for the scene and conversation it took place in。 I literally highlighted it with the note “what the fuck” because I was so alarmed and grossed out by it。 Overall Rip as a character intrigues and excites me but I don’t understand the choice to include that。 。。。more

I was feeling bad for Rissa last book and wanted her to become Auren's friend and confidante and be happy。。。but f*** her, she sucks。This book was so good! I enjoyed almost every second of it, though I will say that I hate the queen and I want her schemes to fail and for her to die。 Same with Midas。 They can both go to hell in a handbasket that is dipped in pitch and on fire; I want them to suffer。 So, when I was forced to read the queen's chapters, I was not a happy camper。 Logically, I know that it is information that I need so I can be informed of what she is up to so I will see and understand everything that is going on。 Rationally and emotionally (because my feelings on this matter are very rational), I hate her and would rather claw out my eyes than have to read her thoughts。 Her and Midas' chapters are the only ones I didn't enjoy though。I'm loving Lu and Jed and Os。 They are a beautiful Wrath and I'm loving their friendship and their kindness towards Auren。 I can't wait to see what happens next! That reveal at the end was glorious! Raven had me doubting that I was right about Rip/Rot because of the different eye color and the black veins and the fact that we are seeing through Midas's eyes and he doesn't know Rip, but sees "him" in the cadre with King Rot, but I'm so glad that it was written this way! I loved the reveal and can't wait to see what happens next!Rating: 4。5⭐ because of my hate for the queen and king chapters, but mad respect to Raven for being able to bring out such strong emotion against these characters in her readers。 。。。more

Slow but goodThis is definitely more of an inner journey than your standard heros journey, but it's fun to see the changing inner dialogue or Auren。 I also really like the way information is slowed offered through this book。 I had my theories, but it was still interesting to get there - and it's got me curious about what comes next。 Slow but goodThis is definitely more of an inner journey than your standard heros journey, but it's fun to see the changing inner dialogue or Auren。 I also really like the way information is slowed offered through this book。 I had my theories, but it was still interesting to get there - and it's got me curious about what comes next。 。。。more

This entire book felt like I was reading a ACoMaF fanfic。 😂 no joke。 Except that it was super slow and I felt like nothing ever happened。 We get introduced to Rip in this book and I really just wanted there to be more of him。 There really isn’t much growth from Auren in this other than she starts to slightly question King Midas。 It was really infuriating listening to Auren constantly think that something was going to happen to her when really nothing was happening。

Glint pulled me in from the very first page and gripped me tight till the very last word。 I was completely hooked!Auren is finally finding herself and has been given more freedom than she’s ever had all while being held prisoner。 She’s made friends, found her grit and is learning to trust her instincts。 Now, Rip。 He is feared amongst his army as commander but is respected more than he is feared。 He can be savage but has a kindness about him, especially in the way he treats Auren。 I like him。 Kin Glint pulled me in from the very first page and gripped me tight till the very last word。 I was completely hooked!Auren is finally finding herself and has been given more freedom than she’s ever had all while being held prisoner。 She’s made friends, found her grit and is learning to trust her instincts。 Now, Rip。 He is feared amongst his army as commander but is respected more than he is feared。 He can be savage but has a kindness about him, especially in the way he treats Auren。 I like him。 King Midas can go f*ck himself。 I don’t like him。 I freaking loved this book。 The journey of Auren, character development, world building and plot is perfection。 It’s definitely becoming one of my favourite fantasy series。 Highly recommend。 5 stars。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 A book of discovery on the part of Auren, agonizing “he definitely had feelings” vibes, and some mild confusion at the end, but excited to start part III。 Not much actually happened until the very end, probably could have been part of the first book tbh。 THAT BEING SAID, I love Raven Kennedy’s writing style, something about it feels so real and raw, unlike other fantasy where you can sometimes feel out of place or can’t relate to characters。

Really enjoyed the 2nd book , main female character Auren has started to be very likable。 And the introduction of Rip and his crew made the story more interesting than the last book。 Also new POV from the Queen has become interesting。

Alright, I'm so hooked on these books, I'm neglecting everything else I need to do! Seriously, this is the kind of romantasy I crave。 I could just tell that book one was setting up something great, and this book delivers。 I love all the characters, even the minor ones, the politics, the plot twists, and, of course, the slow-burn romance (done RIGHT)。 If you're an ACOTAR fan, definitely pick up this series!Starting book 3 ASAP! I liked it。 It could’ve been better though。 But I need to say that I’m really enjoying the characters’ development。 I’m totally feeling that the next one will be better。 By the way, I already love Slade and Auren。 I need MORE scenes of them together。

Loved the story, the new characters, and the interesting twists and turns。 Definitely recommend。

I enjoyed this one more than the first, but I still had some problems with it :/ Mostly, I was just bothered that 75% of the book is about the journey to 5th kingdom and that truly nothing significant happens during that time。 The last 25% of the book gets way more interesting though and we’re left with a big surprise at the end (which I really enjoyed)Also, can I just say that I don’t think I’ve ever hated a character more than Midas 😡 I’m really hoping Auren destroys him, like he needs to leav I enjoyed this one more than the first, but I still had some problems with it :/ Mostly, I was just bothered that 75% of the book is about the journey to 5th kingdom and that truly nothing significant happens during that time。 The last 25% of the book gets way more interesting though and we’re left with a big surprise at the end (which I really enjoyed)Also, can I just say that I don’t think I’ve ever hated a character more than Midas 😡 I’m really hoping Auren destroys him, like he needs to leave this planet permanently I’m sorry (no I’m not) 。。。more

I started this series because so many people said it made them feel the same way as ACOTAR。 I can see the similarities, but unfortunately I’m not sure I’ll ever find a book that can measure up to SJM’s masterpiece (the closest I’ve gotten is the first 2 books in From Blood and Ash but that series went downhill quickly)。 However, I do like this series。 I appreciate that it is marked as adult because the topics it deals with are interesting, real, and add a darker tension to the fantasy series tha I started this series because so many people said it made them feel the same way as ACOTAR。 I can see the similarities, but unfortunately I’m not sure I’ll ever find a book that can measure up to SJM’s masterpiece (the closest I’ve gotten is the first 2 books in From Blood and Ash but that series went downhill quickly)。 However, I do like this series。 I appreciate that it is marked as adult because the topics it deals with are interesting, real, and add a darker tension to the fantasy series that is missing from a lot of YA fantasy books (looking at you Cruel Prince and Throne of Glass)。 I much prefer Glint to Gild mostly because I hate Midas and thankfully there’s much less of him here。 I’m not entirely invested in Melina’s story yet, but she makes for a good villain (much like Cersei in GOT。 We can sympathize with her while we also hate her)。 I’m all about Auren and Rip and look forward to what happens between all of these characters in the next book。 。。。more

Screaming-crying!! Oh my God this book! Auren, my sweet bb Auren, by the end she FINALLY starts to see the truth。 The tension between her & RIP is executed perfectly but I want-no NEED- more。 And the reveals at the end?! Literal perfection。 Excuse me while I immediately RUN to start book 3。

I had a big review, detailed but goodreads failed me and I lost it。Point is: hated Auren in the fist book (no backbone, basically a mat for feet wipping)I’m only reading this series to see her grow into a badassIn book 2; still not anywhere close to being a badass, but at least she seems to know now that she had been manipulated and abused。 Will see if this holds in the next book。*after I read the 3rd book* spoiler: kinda - not reallt…。 It holds。
