I know it took me a while to read it。。。。it tis because I am a busy cOlLeGE sTUdENt and I don't have a lot of time, so I would solely listen to the book going to and from class。。。and honestly, the fact that this book is like 13 hours, I am shocked it didn't take me longer to finish。 I feel ALL the Halloween vibes and who knows? I might be a vampire or VAN HELSING for Halloween now。。。except for nobody would know who he is sadly。 I would be a pretty legendary vampire hunter though。。。not gonna lie。 I mean。。。JUST LOOK AT ME: I don't really have much more to say on this book。。。I was just very pleasantly surprised。 Well done Bram Stoker。 Well done。 I shall just end with this nice scene from SpongeBob that remind me of this book (from the glorious AT NIGHT episode): *squidward* "WAITTT if that was you on the phone and you on the bus, then whoooo was flickering the lights?" *cue lights flickering one and off*"NOSSSFERRATUUUU" 。。。more

Rating this 2。5 stars, rounding up to 3。 It was just too boring。 Oh my god, so boring。 And every scene goes on waayyyyy too long。 This book could have been cut down by a third just by shortening every scene, and it would have been better off for it。 I don't really love the plot either。 It was intriguing at first, but I feel like most of the tension was lost as soon as Harker left Dracula's castle。On a positive note, I did like that there was a sort of fellowship that came together to defeat Drac Rating this 2。5 stars, rounding up to 3。 It was just too boring。 Oh my god, so boring。 And every scene goes on waayyyyy too long。 This book could have been cut down by a third just by shortening every scene, and it would have been better off for it。 I don't really love the plot either。 It was intriguing at first, but I feel like most of the tension was lost as soon as Harker left Dracula's castle。On a positive note, I did like that there was a sort of fellowship that came together to defeat Dracula。 It was fun, even though there was a lot of focus on gender roles in it。 But I can more or less forgive that since this was written so long ago。So yeah, probably something I would not care to read again, nor will it stay with me for long after, I think。 。。。more

tVery familiar story。 Told in journal entries and letters。 Each section starts with telling you whose journal we are reading。 Lucy's attack and death happens when Mina is away。 For a big part of the middle section all of Dracula's action take place off the page。 tVery familiar story。 Told in journal entries and letters。 Each section starts with telling you whose journal we are reading。 Lucy's attack and death happens when Mina is away。 For a big part of the middle section all of Dracula's action take place off the page。 。。。more

This is a great story but Van Helsing might be one of the most annoying characters ever and has way too much dialogue。 It would be better without 2/3 of his parts。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 El final más sin chiste del mundo。。。 Tanto se alardea en el libro sobre el poder de Drácula y termina siendo un final cualquiera con nada de acción e interacción entre Drácula y los personajes, siendo asesinado sin nada de esfuerzo

Long-winded at times, but surprisingly engaging。 Very effective use of the epistolary format。

I really enjoyed this! It is legitimately scary。 It is better than all of the material it has inspired in the past century。 A few sections dragged a bit, but i forgive it。 I knew what was going to happen in the end, but i didn’t know how, and I was fully on the edge of my seat and satisfied。

Dracula is a book that's had an incredible influence on popular culture, spawning an entire genre of vampire-themed books, movies, TV shows, and video games。 Still, going in to reading it, I didn't have high expectations - it is a rather old book, and I often have trouble connecting with older books for a variety of reasons。Indeed, my experience of reading the book was about on par with what I expected。 The pacing in the book is extremely slow - it is full of repetitive and unnecessary-feeling s Dracula is a book that's had an incredible influence on popular culture, spawning an entire genre of vampire-themed books, movies, TV shows, and video games。 Still, going in to reading it, I didn't have high expectations - it is a rather old book, and I often have trouble connecting with older books for a variety of reasons。Indeed, my experience of reading the book was about on par with what I expected。 The pacing in the book is extremely slow - it is full of repetitive and unnecessary-feeling sections。 The middle half or so of the book in particular felt like a real slog。 Then, too, the attitudes in the book feel very dated - from gender relations, to multicultural understanding, to ethnicity and physiology, to psychology, the reader is constantly bombarded by thoughts and interactions on the part of the characters that feel ridiculous。 Obviously, I can't really fault the writer of the book for living in a different time; but, it made it hard for me to relate to the characters or root for them。Speaking of the characters, this was the other major pitfall for me - the characters, by and large, felt very flat and uninteresting。 I didn't particularly care what happened to almost any of the six protagonists of the book。 The characters spend a lot of time expounding on each other's virtues and talking about what great people the other protagonists are, but I never myself got much of a sense of meaningful personhood from any of them, save maybe Jonathan。 And so I'm also not surprised that the book's cultural legacy does not really include its protagonists and their stories。On the other hand, what the book does really well is also what has endured about what it created - the vampire mythos it defines, and the character of Dracula himself, are very compelling。 It's sad that we don't get to actually see very much of Dracula in the book, because every scene with him shines。 We instead get little glimpses of Dracula, and a whole lot of the consequences of his actions。 It is certainly a nice way to tantalize the reader and to create a sense of horror by way of mystery, but when the rest of the book doesn't have much to offer, it's frustrating。If you're super keen on vampire mythology and want to see the grandfather of the genre, or gothic horror is your jam, then by all means, check out the book。 Otherwise, I think this one may be best skipped。 For sure, it has its moments - the first section of the book in Dracula's castle is probably the strongest part of it, and the extended chase towards the end of the book is satisfyingly action-packed。 But on the whole, this book requires a lot of patience to get through, and the rewards are middling。 。。。more

A classic and a must-read。 This book centers around a few different people and I will admit that I was confused at times, but I would not have traded it for the world。 Stoker created something very special with this part and every scene featuring the count was a joy to set eyes on。

5。57 CAWPILE scoreYou know, even with all the death and gore and everything, this was pretty boring? I mean, boring as in it's a classic and written in a different time and I have to account for that, type of boring。 But still, I found that I didn't care if I finished or not。 I didn't want to actively DNF, but I knew that if I put it down to read other books, I'd never come back to it。 Mina is the only smart person in this entire book, and I will not argue this。 5。57 CAWPILE scoreYou know, even with all the death and gore and everything, this was pretty boring?
