I don’t usually leave reviews but this one needed it。 Does anyone else see that Raven Kennedy is literally copying ACOTAR in soooo many ways？ I tried to get over all the similarities， but the secret city tucked away in a mountain really did it for me。 Should’ve just called it Velaris 🤦🏼♀️ I won’t be reading the rest of the series。 Come up with new material。 BORING！

3。5 stars I get that this was a filler book， and don’t get me wrong， I did enjoy a lot of the characterization and back story that took place。 However， the first 75% of this book was ROUGH It was just way too long for what it was Last 25% was EXCELLENT tho WHAT AN ENDING I will say， I do see that this is kind of a Sarah J Maas rip off， but I am EATING THAT SHIT UP

This book was 🔥！ Raven Kennedy did it again。 The intricate weaving of tidbits of information， EVERY seen between Slade & Auren， and the jaw dropping conclusion to the novel。 There are MULTIPLE cliffhangers by the final page， which has left me already salivating for the next novel！

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 I could not wait for this book to end…the book was 700 pages…600 of which were subpar world building and lots of smut， which I’m normally all for， but Auren’s one dimensional character made it awkward。 Her entire personality， despite what the author wants you to think， is damsel in distress。 The ending with the Conflux and her being kidnapped was entirely predictable and seems a bit Empire of Storms-ish to me。 Only SJM can world build for 600 pages and the reader still be engaged and excited abo I could not wait for this book to end…the book was 700 pages…600 of which were subpar world building and lots of smut， which I’m normally all for， but Auren’s one dimensional character made it awkward。 Her entire personality， despite what the author wants you to think， is damsel in distress。 The ending with the Conflux and her being kidnapped was entirely predictable and seems a bit Empire of Storms-ish to me。 Only SJM can world build for 600 pages and the reader still be engaged and excited about what happens。 There was no witty banter， just high school-esq dialogue that made getting through this book a nightmare。 The anti-climactic ending， after suffering through the entirety of the book， was not worth the effort required to get there。 I’m just glad it’s over so I can move on to something else now。 。。。more

it was unfortunate that i had a reading slump when starting this book because looking back at the first half it wasn’t bad i just wasn’t interested in reading。。 From page 300+ it started to pick up and i enjoyed this series once again。 Now， WHEN DOES THE NEXT BOOK COME OUT BECAUSE WTF WAS THAT CLIFFHANGER？？？！！

Strong start， thought we were going to get significant growth from Auren but felt that it slightly lacked in that area。 I understand Slade’s drive to protect her but that mess he pulled on her towards the end to “distract” her was not “OK”。 I was kind of upset with that。 Those last chapter were hard to get through and once it ended I didn’t know what to think。 Here’s to waiting a whole year for the next book。 I’m not sure the author will be able to tie things up in the next book。
