Questa lettura è stata un lungo viaggio， vivendo e crescendo insieme al Rukinate Arsenio， che però per un breve periodo è stato anche Ambrogio per finire come Lauro， “il giusto”。Un’esistenza circolare con dei passaggi obbligati che lo hanno colpito， calpestato， dilaniato e segnato ma se non fosse passato da tutta questa sofferenza la sua missione non avrebbe potuto compiersi， così come il suo destino non lo avrebbe portato ad essere esattamente dove era atteso。 Arsenio è giovanissimo quando appr Questa lettura è stata un lungo viaggio， vivendo e crescendo insieme al Rukinate Arsenio， che però per un breve periodo è stato anche Ambrogio per finire come Lauro， “il giusto”。Un’esistenza circolare con dei passaggi obbligati che lo hanno colpito， calpestato， dilaniato e segnato ma se non fosse passato da tutta questa sofferenza la sua missione non avrebbe potuto compiersi， così come il suo destino non lo avrebbe portato ad essere esattamente dove era atteso。 Arsenio è giovanissimo quando apprende dal nonno Cristoforo tutti i rudimenti sulla spiritualità， le erbe medicamentose， le pietre， i minerali， gli unguenti， tutto quello che può servire per lenire i dolori， guarire le piaghe e scacciare le malattie dal corpo ma nonostante questo non riesce a salvare la vita della donna che ama。 Questo immenso dolore lo segnerà per sempre e vagherà errando per il mondo alla ricerca del senso della sua vita， o forse ancor più si interroga sullo scopo della sua esistenza， ora che è rimasto solo al mondo。 Lauro è un russo contemporaneo che si conclude così: “Tu vivi nella nostra terra già da un anno e otto mesi e non ci hai ancora capito nulla”。“Perché， voi ci capite qualcosa？”“Noi？ Certo， anche noi stessi non ci capiamo nulla”。Tutto molto russo non trovate？ Si ma Lauro è molto di più。 A volte ho avuto l’impressione di leggere una sorta di vademecum su come vivere veramente， sfruttando tutte le potenzialità del nostro organismo， del nostro corpo che non è affatto slegato dalla mente e dalla spiritualità。 Lo sapevano bene i medici di una volta che non si limitavano a prescrivere una medicina ma cercavano di aprire uno spiraglio sulla vita del malato， i suoi brutti pensieri， le cattiverie commesse contro se stesso e gli altri， le sofferenze che hanno minato il suo corpo。 In molte popolazioni tribali e non solo ci si approccia ancora così nei confronti di un malato e questo， per quanto possa far sorridere - visti i tempi poi - in realtà dovrebbe indurci a riflettere。 Ecco， qui dentro c’è un mondo che per la nostra vita “occidentale” può risultare pressoché sconosciuta， e insieme a Lauro impariamo anche noi， attraverso la lettura， anche quanto il tempo sia un concetto astratto ma circolare。 Per quanto ci sembra di allontanarci dal punto di partenza， in realtà il nostro vivere non è altri che un continuo ritornare ai blocchi di partenza。 Magari non proprio ai blocchi di partenza ma verso quel punto dove è successa quel determinato fatto che ci ha resi， in bene o in male， ciò che siamo。 。。。more

«Лавр»， Евгений ВодолазкинЯ так наелась русской литературы за школьные и университетские годы， что почти не прикасалась к отечественным авторам последние 10 лет без необходимости сделать это по учебе。 Разве что про Фандорина читала упоенно ― но это у меня в крови。Причина в том， что эта «обязательная к прочтению» русская литература почему-то всегда больше， чем литература。 Это политическое заявление， проповедь， учение， страдание， а не просто литература。 И меня замучило это。 На мой мещанский взгля «Лавр»， Евгений ВодолазкинЯ так наелась русской литературы за школьные и университетские годы， что почти не прикасалась к отечественным авторам последние 10 лет без необходимости сделать это по учебе。 Разве что про Фандорина читала упоенно ― но это у меня в крови。Причина в том， что эта «обязательная к прочтению» русская литература почему-то всегда больше， чем литература。 Это политическое заявление， проповедь， учение， страдание， а не просто литература。 И меня замучило это。 На мой мещанский взгляд литература ― сама по себе потрясающее полноценное искусство， а значит， необязательно отягощать ее какой-то великой целью。 Когда у всего мира случился «Лавр»， я вздохнула и даже рецензии читать не стала ― зачем мне очередная великая русская литература？ Спустя 10 лет я нашла его у себя в скачанных книгах， открыла ― и влюбилась в историю наделенного даром врачевания травника Арсения с первой страницы。 Потому что все， что меня восторгает， тут было。Я люблю， когда автор так хорошо владеет языком。 Пишет （как по итогу видится） без напряжения， легко， чисто， естественно ― зачитаешься。 Слово цепляет слово， тянет тебя дальше по строчкам， все звучит и переливается。 И ни одна буква с места сдвинута быть не может。 Автор рассказывает тебе так， что ты хочешь нырнуть в этот текст， пить его， есть его。 Я читала и вспоминала любимого Жозе Сарамаго。 Язык ― инструмент в руках ловкого мастера， и он вытачивает им такие дивные закорючки， что дух захватывает。Я люблю истории пути， взросления， становления ― духовного в том числе。 Вот такие вот жития。 И история Арсения， его жизни （жизней？） рассказана замечательно。 А еще при том， что я ужасно плохо запоминаю имена героев， я каждого второстепенного в этой книге помню。 Они все суперфактурные。Я люблю игру， шалость， неожиданность ― особенно когда это касается времени， цикличности。 А у Водолазкина хронотоп （с вуза не вспоминала про тебя！） такой… художественный。 Эта вневременная история иначе построена быть и не могла。 Потому начните читать и удивитесь тому， как красиво сквозь ткань прошлого проступают тени будущего ― и наоборот。 Воистину «неисторический роман»。 Времени не существует ― и это прекрасно。 Я люблю религиозные мотивы и все， что с этой сферой связано。 А «Лавр»， конечно， про это тоже。 Про веру， чудо， вину， покаяние и искупление， перерождение， про то， к чему каждый из нас идет и ради чего идет。 Про Любовь。«Лавр» драматичен， атмосферен， потрясающе захватывает внимание и остается таким мощным ощущением после прочтения не только в голове， но и в теле， что не отделаешься ― в себя прийти надо。 Естественно я отдельно отмечу совершенную витткоповщину в первой части книги。 Ценители， знайте: там все как надо прям。Да и вообще все в этой книге как надо。 Читайте ее， пожалуйста。 Она возвращает веру ― каждому в свое。 。。。more

Nu știam la ce să mă aștept de la această lectură。 Coperta îmi inspira ideea că ar fi o carte cu tentă religioasă。 Dar， dincolo de prezența religiei și a misticismului care predomină întreaga scriere， țin să interpretez acest roman drept unul filozofic。 Înglobând granița dintre real și ireal， dintre temporal și atemporal， dintre trup și suflet， dintre sfânt și lumesc， Vodolazkin îți prezintă lumea prin dualitatea sa。Suntem în epoca Medievală。 Hristofor este un vraci bătrân care locuiește la marg Nu știam la ce să mă aștept de la această lectură。 Coperta îmi inspira ideea că ar fi o carte cu tentă religioasă。 Dar， dincolo de prezența religiei și a misticismului care predomină întreaga scriere， țin să interpretez acest roman drept unul filozofic。 Înglobând granița dintre real și ireal， dintre temporal și atemporal， dintre trup și suflet， dintre sfânt și lumesc， Vodolazkin îți prezintă lumea prin dualitatea sa。Suntem în epoca Medievală。 Hristofor este un vraci bătrân care locuiește la marginea satului， lângă cimitir。 Odată cu ciuma care curmă viețile fiului și nurorii， nepotul Arseni trece cu traiul în coliba lui Hristofor。 Acesta îi împărtășește nepotului toate cunoștințele lui enciclopedice privind plantele medicinale。 Atunci când bunicul moare， nepotul devine noul vraci。 Însă， viața ia o nouă întorsătură când dragostea vieții lui， Ustina， moare la nașterea copilului lor。 Aceste două decese sunt văzute de către Arseni drept păcatul său suprem și el decide să pornească în lume pentru a se dedica în întregime celor nevoiași。Pasajele pe care le-am adorat au fost cele de la începutul romanului， copilăria lui Arseni alături de bunicul lui。 Bunicul Hristofor mi-a amintit de bunicul meu。 La fel și el credea cu sfințenie în puterea plantelor medicinale。 Mereu căuta prilejul să mă învețe despre proprietățile curative ale plantelor precum pătlagina， potbalul， romanița etc。 Îmi aduc aminte cu melancolie de fișele cu descrierile plantelor medicinale pe care le avea bunelul și din care citeam cu curiozitate。 Într-o altă ordine de idei， când bunicul Hristofor vorbea din cărțile sfinte， amintirile m-au dus cu gândul la bunica， care mereu avea vorbe cu tâlc adunate din cărțile bisericești străvechi。 Mereu încerca să împărtășească învățămintele din acele cărți și ne spunea despre prezicerile străvechi care se adevereau。Eroul central al romanului este un personaj complex care trece prin schimbări și transformări。 În fiecare etapă a vieții， atunci când crede că i-a venit sfârșitul， își schimbă traiectoria începând o nouă călătorie。 Parcă ar fi o viață trăită de patru oameni care nu seamănă unul cu altul， care au trupuri diferite precum și numele le este diferit。 Din copil crește vraciul， care se transformă în nebun sfânt， devine apoi pelerin， pentru a-și găsi odihna de veci în calitatea de călugăr。 Nici numele nu rămâne neschimbat: se naște Arseni， pentru a deveni Ustin， apoi Ambrozie， pentru a muri Laur。În călătoriile sale își câștigă mereu slava prin ajutorul acordat celor suferinzi。 Darul lui este potențat de forțe superioare， acționate de spiritul de sacrificiu și de o iubire pentru aproape de o intensitate inimaginabilă。 Îi ajută pe oameni fiind capabil să înțeleagă străfundurile suferinței lor， coborând până la rădăcina ei。 Vorbind cu el， oamenii simt grația divină și se întreabă ades dacă puterea vindecării stă în acțiunile sale terapeutice sau într-o minune a Domnului。 El însă， le zice mereu că nimic nu i se datorează lui， chiar dacă oamenii pleacă salvați de la dânsul。 Chiar și atunci când nu-i poate ajuta îi susține。✍️“Boala ta depășește puterile mele， dar mila Domnului e mai presus de puterile omenești。 Roagă-te și nu-ți pierde nădejdea。”Nu aș schimba nimic în această carte。 Autorul a reușit să-mi inducă atmosfera medievală și o stare de pace。 Vodolazkin scrie pe cât de simplu și cursiv， pe atât de rafinat și elegant。 În cartea sa se împletesc bunătatea sihaștrilor， înțelepciunea bătrânilor， puritatea credinței și nelegiuirile tâlharilor。 Toate acestea construiesc o istorie la limita dintre real și fantastic pe care nu ai cum să n-o îndrăgești。“Laur” de Evgheni Vodolazkin 。。。more

никак не могу поставить этой книге меньше пяти звёзд， хотя не получила от её чтения почти никакого удовольствия， а только ощущение， будто разгрузила грузовик роялей。 хотя нет， рояли — это слишком игриво для этой книги。 грузовик брусков мыла。при этом книга эта крайне техничная， умная， ставит перед собой интересные сложные задачи и справляется с ними。 полагаю， что для автора она и искренняя。 «Лавр» рассказывает историю жизни святого （не сразу） православного целителя， который по недомыслию убил люб никак не могу поставить этой книге меньше пяти звёзд， хотя не получила от её чтения почти никакого удовольствия， а только ощущение， будто разгрузила грузовик роялей。 хотя нет， рояли — это слишком игриво для этой книги。 грузовик брусков мыла。при этом книга эта крайне техничная， умная， ставит перед собой интересные сложные задачи и справляется с ними。 полагаю， что для автора она и искренняя。 «Лавр» рассказывает историю жизни святого （не сразу） православного целителя， который по недомыслию убил любимую жену с ребёнком， с которыми жил во грехе， а потому единственным способом спасти их души видит прожить праведную жизнь за них， чтобы Господь его добрые дела засчитал им。 он проходит разные радости и мытарства， но в конечном итоге понимает， что времени не существует — а вернее， что Господь посылает людям время， чтобы упорядочить мир， ибо иначе они не справляются с потоком событий。 но в Раю времени вообще-то не было， а первые люди жили по много сотен лет — привыкали к нему。 а следовательно， чем ближе ты к Богу， тем меньше время существует для тебя。именно поэтому у книги такой своеобразный язык。 в основе своей он нейтральный， но герои произвольно переключаются то на древнерусский， то на советский канцелярит， то на современную разговорную речь。 и не только стилистически: подчёркнуто анахроничных цитат из Пушкина в книге столько， что его впору признать одним из её героев， а то и вообще крайне вроде бы чуждый истории Экзюпери мелькает。это создаёт интересный и многослойный эффект。 с одной стороны， раскрывает основную тему книги — повествование не то чтобы вневременное （сама история всё-таки весьма средневековая）， но запутавшееся во времени， недаром иногда оно вообще соскакивает на учебничный тон и рассказывает о «тех непростых временах» и собственно «Средневековье»。 с другой， за довольно сухим основным языком повествования и далёким от нас древнерусским стилистически более знакомые фразы всякий раз звучат живо и эмоционально。 а с третьей， они отчасти моделируют для нас то， как этот самый древнерусский звучал в ушах героев повествования。не лишена книга и остроумных деталей。 крайне занятен тезис о том， что ожидаемый средневековыми славянами конец света （7000 год от начала времени） совпадает с открытием Америки。 и неотвеченным остаётся вопрос， не является ли всё， что происходит с миром после этого самого открытия， просто растянувшимся концом света （старого）。или вот， например。 очевидна параллель между погибшей родами Устиной и Анастасией， которую главный герой в финале спасает （ибо время идёт по спирали， и события прошлого повторяются， но иначе — лучше， ближе к Богу， который простил）。 но что бы там ни обсуждали про запутавшееся время， в финале Арсений проживает свою жизнь задом наперёд — и если прикладывать， встреча с Устиной ложится не на историю Анастасии， а на его постриг в монахи。 ибо， как мы понимаем， любовью его и вечной женой была Церковь， как и полагается святому， даже если формально он основную часть жизни жил вне её лона。почему же у меня был с книгой настолько нулевой резонанс？ вероятно， мне просто абсолютно чужды жития православных святых。 когда в повествовании появился католик， мне сразу стало интересно， потому что ну вот человек занимался интересной интеллектуальной задачей — пытался вычислить точный год конца света。 а есть землю и исцелять наложением рук — это мировоззрение понятное， но скучное до крайности。 пожалуй， стоит поблагодарить книгу за то， что она ясно мне это показала。вообще-то «Лавр» — не только про православную картину мира и не только про Средневековье， на него можно посмотреть и как на более широкое осмысление культуры и довольно интересных вопросов。 но он настолько утоплен в своей смиренно-размеренной интонации， что все эти мысли одеты в рубище。звёздочки ставлю за условно-объективные достоинства， но рекомендовать при этом не могу。P。 S。 одна из самых почитаемых и мифологизированных светской культурой православных фигур — Андрей Рублёв。 главного героя «Лавра» зовут Арсений。 «Андрея Рублёва» снял Андрей Тарковский， и меня， конечно， терзает мысль， что Арсения зовут в честь другого Тарковского。 не хочу гуглить и проверять сию блистательную гипотезу — вдруг неправда。 。。。more

I'm not really into fiction。 I'll read one or （max） two novels a year， I'd say。 And they're all like Laurus: they are praised by smart people and offer something along with their narratives that is a little arcane。 They are "serious。" And then， at the end of such books， I find myself glad to have marinated in their contents—but a little embarrassed to admit that I'm not sure my literary-critical skills are up to the challenge of describing the arcanities。 Why did this count as serious？ What did I'm not really into fiction。 I'll read one or （max） two novels a year， I'd say。 And they're all like Laurus: they are praised by smart people and offer something along with their narratives that is a little arcane。 They are "serious。" And then， at the end of such books， I find myself glad to have marinated in their contents—but a little embarrassed to admit that I'm not sure my literary-critical skills are up to the challenge of describing the arcanities。 Why did this count as serious？ What did I "get" out of it？In a very real way， as another Protestant friend has said， I'm deeply disturbed to watch a Russian orthodox Christian live an entire life of penance。 It seems to be a slap in the Savior's face。 He died to do everyone's penance for all time。 He sat down at the right hand of God having suffered all of God's wrath against human sin。 Additional sacrifices of atonement aren't just unnecessary; they're offensive。And in another way， there was something Russian about this novel that I apparently just don't understand: people abuse holy fools because they know someone has to？ Is that a Russian thing？ Laurus had multiple names and identities throughout his life—is that a Russian thing？Nonetheless， I enjoyed this story and liked the main character。 I'm going to talk about what I got out of the book， because my mind is attuned to different features of novels than I imagine it's supposed to be。 I like thinking about the language， the feel。 Here's what I noticed: the translator really seemed to me to do incredibly good work。 When the loquacious holy fool spoke （I forget his name）， he suddenly talked like we do， and I suddenly realized that I'd been in a different linguistic world， a different era and place。 The translator used King Jamesy language for Bible quotations， of course—that one's kind of easy。 But she also managed to make me feel the way Susanna Clarke did in Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell。 She kept up an illusion of time travel through language。 I cannot know whether her English reflects well the original Russian; I often had the feel that the book was originally written in English， in fact， and I think that's a praise。And that leads me to my main thought: the overall work was not as foreign as I expected。 No doubt there are Russian cultural elements and moods and atmospheres and themes that I wasn't really getting。 Russia is a great nation that has produced some fine art （I love Rachmaninov's choral work！）—but it isn't wholly Western， as I am。 But I felt again this feeling I regularly feel when overhearing the YA audio books my kids listen to: I can't really put my finger on it， but there is something about Hollywood that has pulled the world together。 There are certain tropes I feel in those kids books that seem like they had to come from people （read: all of us） who have watched a lot of television。 There was a note of that in Laurus， and I absolutely cannot justify this thought with a single example。 It was just a mood， a feel， an atmosphere。 Somehow this story was not as foreign as I think it otherwise would have been—if Hollywood's powers （its tentacles？） didn't stretch from West to East and back again。Take that observation for what it's worth。 I've been wanting to write it down， hoping that in doing so the full insight I think I'm stumbling onto would come to me。 It hasn't。 It might be another decade or two before this thought becomes more clear in my mind。 I just think I see something。 。。。more

As the first book by Eugene Vodolazkin I read， I was surprised to see a lot of Dostoievski's influence and Tolstoi's later writings。 Laurus is a complex character， driven by love， which is not entirely a Godly love。 So by this we see the struggles of many persons - I believe in God because he gives me something， I felt that Arseny， at some points， was more ”mercantile” （in absence of a better word） than spiritual。 However， I enjoyed a lot the depictions of spirituality in the Middle Ages in Russ As the first book by Eugene Vodolazkin I read， I was surprised to see a lot of Dostoievski's influence and Tolstoi's later writings。 Laurus is a complex character， driven by love， which is not entirely a Godly love。 So by this we see the struggles of many persons - I believe in God because he gives me something， I felt that Arseny， at some points， was more ”mercantile” （in absence of a better word） than spiritual。 However， I enjoyed a lot the depictions of spirituality in the Middle Ages in Russia and the travels and discoveries of the world at that moment。 I believe that this book's meanings can be fully discovered after several re-reaadings。 。。。more
