I won a copy of this book from Goodreads。 I was very excited as I like this author。 I enjoyed the book but did find it a bit slow。 It seemed like a book I would devour, I mean wine and a book club, but for whatever reason it was a slow go for me。 Maybe just too much other stuff going on in life to allow much reading time。 I enjoyed learning more about life making wine and the multi-generation cast of characters, particularly the growth each showed and the focus on the power of women。

Sadie's discovery of her grandmother's diary leads her, as well as the other women (including Asher's fiance Bridget) to the joys of Judith Krantz and Jackie Collins。 Honestly, this made me want to go back and re-reasd Lace (among other novels)- if you haven't already read them, please do because as Sadie discovers, these aren't "trash" novels to be derided but good stories well told。 I liked this for the details about winemaking, the Long Island setting, the cheese (I've tracked down a few Leah recommends), and the way the women pull together。 No spoilers as to the problem that underlies the financial issues。 This is funny in spots but also big hearted。 Thanks to the publisher for the ARC。 Great summer read (that will also be good in the winter)。 。。。more

A multigenerational book club of "trashy" novels- and developing a plan to save the winery!I love multigenerational family novels so much, so I had to pick this one up! I enjoyed seeing how the three women of the family grew stronger and closer to each other over the course of the novel。 Leah was probably my favorite - I loved her determination to save the winery and her dedication to her cheese shop (I wish I could go to the shop in real life!)The book club part of the story was so heartwarming。 Although the books the women read might be seen as "trashy" by some, author Jamie Brenner makes the point that the protagonists of these books are strong women who go after what they want and aren't ashamed of their desires。 Seeing those stories motivate the Hollander women was very powerful。 Even Sadie's literature professor agrees that these books have value - there's a reason people still read them today! As I've seen said on bookstagram, there are no guilty pleasures - read what you love because you love it, no justification necessary。 4。5 starsThank you to G。P。 Putnam's Sons for my ARC on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more
