un universo muy bien construído y justificado a la perfección que hace que quieras saber más sobre él y sobre el por qué de este mundo。 me faltó algo de trama o algún plot twist。 me hubiera gustado que el final se desarrollara más。
Vivian Odubasa,
i wasn’t that motivated to read it, but i really enjoyed it。 i think it shows a lot about government and reality of how relationships and life in general can be warped in real life although this is just a dystopia。 i think think is a book i would recommend but only to readers who have enjoyed at least one other classic

George Orwell has spoken about some of the political scenarios that are relevant even after 70 years。
Lea,
A truly genius book。 The message becomes more and more important in current times。 The story covers essential topics from the loss of privacy to capitalism and socialism。 This book is a classic that everyone can and should read and it´s written by an author with interesting and realistic thoughts and theories。
Magdy Darwish,
Couldn’t finish the book it’s so slow paced and lack of events
Harsha Ghosh,
This was the first dystopian novel I read and I really liked the plot and the characters and the ending。

Hmmm, I honestly do not know how to start this review !? It seemed to be a book that inspired hope in the first few chapters, and then it came crushing。 The analogy made by the author of the game snakes and ladders I think it gave me the whole overview of the book。 Winston climbed the ladder and then was hit down at the beginning by snakes。 He was laughing when he was young, he loved it and it seemed that in the end He loved the world he was in。 The book seemed on a historical perspective to be Hmmm, I honestly do not know how to start this review !? However, I must say I have to read something else to cheer up my humour。 。。。more

。。。more

Is this a novel or a political essay?I think 70% of the book contains more political statement and a linguistic study than a novel plot。 For the novel plot, it is a terror and sinister one。 Most novel about a protagonist hating their government always ended with the downfall of its government。 But on this one it is the downfall of human freedom on particularly every aspects (they even controlled the vocabulary and language to limit your thought *shudders*)。 The protagonist is defeated。 The gover Is this a novel or a political essay?I think 70% of the book contains more political statement and a linguistic study than a novel plot。 For the novel plot, it is a terror and sinister one。 Most novel about a protagonist hating their government always ended with the downfall of its government。 But on this one it is the downfall of human freedom on particularly every aspects (they even controlled the vocabulary and language to limit your thought *shudders*)。 The protagonist is defeated。 The government won。Nevertheless, this is one of ground-breaking book。 A story about a foreseeable future。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 There had been so much expectation leading up to this reading of 1984。 I had never read the entire book prior to this, but I had been exposed to a good deal of the book as well as many Orwellian references from other books, movies, and television shows。In my mind, the world of Oceana is the perfect dystopia archetype。 It is an idea forged from war and world depression and projects an almost creepy accuracy about technology, almost half a decade into the future from when it was written。You can’t There had been so much expectation leading up to this reading of 1984。 I had never read the entire book prior to this, but I had been exposed to a good deal of the book as well as many Orwellian references from other books, movies, and television shows。In my mind, the world of Oceana is the perfect dystopia archetype。 It is an idea forged from war and world depression and projects an almost creepy accuracy about technology, almost half a decade into the future from when it was written。You can’t be mad at Winston for his personality and will likely find many parallels in your own world views。 As the book lays out a world of despair and secret contempt, it begins to almost feel like there is a sense of rebellion, no one could know, building up so you can cheer right along for Winston’s victory。The book then takes us to a relationship of list which seems to make the rebelliousness justified as his assigned and diligent life are compared with one of a seeming free will。The way it all builds up, it is almost demoralizing to realize how helpless the characters are in Oceana and how it almost seems to parallel the development of modern consumer driven capitalist societies。 I began to feel a very strange sense of paralleled feelings about my own life。All in all, 1984 is a great ride。 It exposes the fears of society from post the WWII era and gives a good comparison for the dystopian fears of today。 The war references are almost prophetic of the type of war fought in the mid 20th century and give a real sense of what we really should fear most。Orwell appears to have the credibility for this to be a genuine dystopia。 Perhaps exaggerated, but not out of reality。 It really will be hard to beat 1984 with any similar dystopian fiction。 And there’s no way you can beat the mesmerizing consistency of Oceana compared to the modern world。Happy Reading! 。。。more

I chose to re-read this as I had to read it for year 10 English and all I remembered was a scene in the second last chapter。 I wanted to give it a second chance, maybe I would like it more without having to constantly think of themes and analysis。Unfortunately, I still didn't like it。 It's impressive that it can still be read today just as it was when written over 70 years ago, and I understand it's cultural importance, but overall not something that I will read again。 I chose to re-read this as I had to read it for year 10 English and all I remembered was a scene in the second last chapter。 I wanted to give it a second chance, maybe I would like it more without having to constantly think of themes and analysis。Unfortunately, I still didn't like it。 It's impressive that it can still be read today just as it was when written over 70 years ago, and I understand it's cultural importance, but overall not something that I will read again。 。。。more
