Ok ok listen， I love and adore this series and it still remains one of my favorites。 But this book wasn't my favorite。 It has a huge amount of text that ends up feeling like filler to help build up to the last book， Goldfinch， and I think there was a great deal that could've either been moved along at a faster pace or cut entirely。Spoilers-ish ahoy:Slade and Auren spend the ENTIRE book apart。 I understand that it was necessary for them to be apart to develop the storyline and allow Auren to expl Ok ok listen， I love and adore this series and it still remains one of my favorites。 But this book wasn't my favorite。 It has a huge amount of text that ends up feeling like filler to help build up to the last book， Goldfinch， and I think there was a great deal that could've either been moved along at a faster pace or cut entirely。Spoilers-ish ahoy:Slade and Auren spend the ENTIRE book apart。 I understand that it was necessary for them to be apart to develop the storyline and allow Auren to explore Annwyn and her own strength/agency， but I wish that they hadn't been apart the whole time。 Auren's exploration of Annwyn was great and it was enjoyable being introduced to the full， rich world that Raven has built， but it all felt like it was going nowhere until the last quarter of the book。 Slade's Tour of Rage™ was fairly satisfying but also felt like it wasn't building to anything （it didn't）。 I just wanted them to find their way back to each other！I still don't enjoy the Malina and Osrik chapters。 They were the most boring parts of the previous books and I'd often find myself speed-reading through them because they never seemed to be interesting or relevant to the main storyline。 Obviously， Raven is working in quite the character arc for Malina and has quite the redemption story in mind。 Unlike Dommik， I just didn't believe Malina enough。 It felt like her flip from entitled to selfless was wildly sudden and I just didn't get the romance between her and Dommik。 The spicy scene between them was the ONLY spicy scene in the book and felt like it was added in to appease fans。 I'm hungry for the next book， but unfortunately this was one of my least favorites of the series。 。。。more

I reading this book was hard。 I wanted to constantly quit up until 80% of the way through。 I loved reading the other ones but this felt like filler to make up plot points。 Majority of the time I was bored reading this。 The ending left me angry。 If I was not committed to finishing the series， I would not even read the last book。 Not excited at all with the direction it is going。 Makes it seem like the author is running out of ideas。 Which makes me sad with how well the other books in the series w I reading this book was hard。 I wanted to constantly quit up until 80% of the way through。 I loved reading the other ones but this felt like filler to make up plot points。 Majority of the time I was bored reading this。 The ending left me angry。 If I was not committed to finishing the series， I would not even read the last book。 Not excited at all with the direction it is going。 Makes it seem like the author is running out of ideas。 Which makes me sad with how well the other books in the series were。 。。。more

Honestly I skim read a lot of this book。 I understand using multiple character view points for pacing but。。。 this was just really frustrating。 This review is kind of spoilery I think。 The thing that annoyed me with Malina is it felt like the same exact story as Auren's。 First off， it's been a minute since I read the last book so I don't even really remember her story line。 She was suppossed to be assassinated by this guy and I can't remember but she wound up with these bad fae and they wound up Honestly I skim read a lot of this book。 I understand using multiple character view points for pacing but。。。 this was just really frustrating。 This review is kind of spoilery I think。 The thing that annoyed me with Malina is it felt like the same exact story as Auren's。 First off， it's been a minute since I read the last book so I don't even really remember her story line。 She was suppossed to be assassinated by this guy and I can't remember but she wound up with these bad fae and they wound up opening the bridge between the fae kingdoms。 But apparently this guy see's something in self absorbed Malina and he convinces her to fight for her country。 This kind of annoyed me because this story was already playing out in the main story。 And now we have a side story with the SAME EXACT THEME。 All down to them hooking up， in the middle of a battle by the way， I thought that was weird and def not the time for a sex scene。 Auren and Slade do not see each other in this novel and at the end it seems like Auren has been brainwashed by some powerful fae， so the bad guys are clearly going to use her in the next novel to get to Slade。 Which really sucks。 I imagine their pair bond is going to safe them in some way。Like I said， I was really un-impressed with the length of this novel。 I didn't like the other side romance plots。 Like Osrik's story line could have 100% been left out。 I'm going to go back and try and re-read certain parts to make more sense of this book。 But yeah， another year till the next one。 That kind of stinks。 。。。more
