This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 I did not find this book as engaging as the rest in the series。 Felt a bit like a filler book， although we did gain some important info such as Max’s parental origin。 But I found myself not eager to turn the page， I was not really into the book this time。

fast paced readAnother enjoyable， fast- paced read featuring Max and her shadow hounds。 The cucharas…。 Ugh giant and dangerously lethal cucarachas （funny name choice as in Spanish， cuchara means spoon， but hey， it’s a whole different world）。 Expect lots of action， creatures， demons， friends… not much Wild in this book。 Ahhh I’m ready for the next one already。

Good story well told so far。。。。I enjoyed this next part of the story。 Max is becoming yet another favourite character。 I love how her relationship with Bryce is developing。 Quite excited to find out what will happen next。 Hope they find a way to be happy ever after。 I want them to find a way out into a newer free world，but will be happy if they win the battle between good and evil。

3。5 "This world is yours， not mine， and not His。 You are its champion。 You must defend your realm， daughter。 Defeat His creatures。 Use what I have given you。” Things just continue to get more dicey for our h， Max， and her circle of friends trying to stop the demonic taint spreading out into her city。In this one we have more creepy crawlies venturing over from the Wilds， as well as bodies that just don't want to seem to stay dead。 With the demons from the last few books still trying to 3。5 "This world is yours， not mine， and not His。 You are its champion。 You must defend your realm， daughter。 Defeat His creatures。 Use what I have given you。” Things just continue to get more dicey for our h， Max， and her circle of friends trying to stop the demonic taint spreading out into her city。In this one we have more creepy crawlies venturing over from the Wilds， as well as bodies that just don't want to seem to stay dead。 With the demons from the last few books still trying to access the Arkus Codex- Max and the crew have to solve a series of deaths as well as try to figure out their enemies ultimate goal after leaving destruction in their wake。We also get a major revelation from the Lady concerning Max's powers and background （view spoiler）[ I mean the fact that Kitris and Emmeline are her parents！？ Or more so that Emmeline was her surrogate and that the Lady was her true mother。。。wow didn't see that coming！ （hide spoiler）]Also we got to know more about the city itself- still not sure about the Wilds。 But that the city （view spoiler）[is on an island， and it was once named Haven。 Also as was expected-it was part of a much larger world called Lumina。 （and that Kitris new about it！） （hide spoiler）]Excited to see where the story goes~！ 。。。more

Great series！Another wonderful addition to The Grey Gates。 The only thing I can think of to make it better， would be to make it take a few days longer to read。 But I can say it makes the 8 or so hours I spend listening to it pass by like a bullet train！ Thanks for that！ House work never sounded so good！
