Mi lugar feliz。 Da igual que llevase ¿3-4? años sin leer nada suyo: es leer la presentación del personaje de Jorge Castro y volver a caer en su embrujo de nuevo。

Yes, yes they are。 I always look forward to the release of new Stephen King novels。 Holly did not disappoint at all。 I am looking forward to the next story that Holly appears in。 This is a story which is easy to read and has a few pop culture and current event references that are timely as well。 I give it five out of five stars。 。。。more

King knows how to write。 Interesting and twisted plot。 Only thing that felt a bit overdone was the meandering political commentary。 Kind of brought me out of the story for moments。
Sheldon Wiebe,
Rejoice! The new Stephen King novel, Holly, is one of his best - a real Holly Gibney investigation that takes a fresh look (for Mr。 King) at the nature of evil。In this instance, a missing persons case turns into something quite a bit more complicated than Holly could even begin to imagine。Shifting from the points-of-view of several characters, King constructs a taut thriller that may be one of his most chilling tales。Any time Mr。 King wants to revisit Holly, I will definitely want to read it。Very Rejoice! The new Stephen King novel, Holly, is one of his best - a real Holly Gibney investigation that takes a fresh look (for Mr。 King) at the nature of evil。In this instance, a missing persons case turns into something quite a bit more complicated than Holly could even begin to imagine。Shifting from the points-of-view of several characters, King constructs a taut thriller that may be one of his most chilling tales。Any time Mr。 King wants to revisit Holly, I will definitely want to read it。Very good/evil stuff, indeed。 。。。more

Renee’s Mom,
I returned this book a few minutes after I began it! I have always like Stephen King’s books, but to bring his political views into it without regard to the fact that not everyone agrees with his political views is disgusting!! The only audience he is attracting are those that hold his political values, which to me leave a lot to be desired! He just lost a reader……still shaking my head in disbelief!! Ugh!!!
Melinda,
Holly has always been my favorite character of the Mr。 Mercedes books, so an entire book focused on her was a treat。 This one is pretty graphic, so sensitive readers will absolutely want to steer clear。
Marva,
Probably actually a 3 book for me, but I gave it a four for the protrayal of the black characters。 That was well done。 Typical Stephen King。。。 a good story and fun read that starts to get a little too long before the wrap up。

Erin,
Holly Gibney is definitely one of my favorite characters King has written。 And while it was sometimes depressing to read a story set in the deep Covid era, I did love how the heroes were pro-vax and anti-trump and the villains were primarily the opposite。 🤣
Kenneth,
Once again, King has given us a masterpiece。 The power of this one rests not just in its amazing storytelling, but also in the underlying allegory which lays bare the pseudoscience and near-to-the-surface hatred that has infected our culture in the past eight years。
Vince,
Very well developed。 Wish all authors would eliminate the political statements。 I read to escape the political controversy。 King has an amazing creative mind。
Nev Fountain,
A bit taken aback by the reviews complaining about 'politics' when King writes about COVID。 King was writing about a time we all experienced when millions of people died, a lot of them unnecessarily。 Particularly vaccine deniers fed disinformation who unwittingly brought their own deaths upon themselves。 No doubt Holocaust deniers would make the same point about Anne Frank and the unfortunate way she brought 'politics' into her work。 I am pleased these frothing nutters with their one-star review A bit taken aback by the reviews complaining about 'politics' when King writes about COVID。 King was writing about a time we all experienced when millions of people died, a lot of them unnecessarily。 Particularly vaccine deniers fed disinformation who unwittingly brought their own deaths upon themselves。 No doubt Holocaust deniers would make the same point about Anne Frank and the unfortunate way she brought 'politics' into her work。 I am pleased these frothing nutters with their one-star reviews have failed to put a dent in King's overall four-plus star rating。That said, it is an odd book。 There is no mystery like 'The Outsider', as the antagonists and their motives are revealed pretty early。 It's not really a thriller as there is no tension about what the antagonists might do to our cast of characters as in 'Mr Mercedes', as the deaths are mostly in the past tense, and the few deaths that happen during the book are from characters we barely know and the scenes are rather perfunctory。 And it's not really a horror。 Even though the concept is horrific, nothing of what you would call 'horror' is visited on the protagonists - there is very little viscera aimed in their direction。 The most tension involves Barbara worrying about the outcome of a poetry competition。 Most of it is Holly investigating and piecing clues together rather slowly。 Which is fine, because it's nice to be in the company of Holly, Barbara and Jerome, even if it is a bit ploddy until the last fifth of the book。 But it has a great concept and engaging characters, and that still puts it head and shoulders above most books on the shelves at Waterstones。 。。。more
Marshamariella,
I haven’t picked up a SK book in years and was pleasantly happy with Holly。 I quite liked the main character Holly who has appeared in a few of Mr。 King’s past novels。 While it may not have an expectant supernatural slant to the plot the acts of a couple old folks committed on human life is full horror and will leave the reader in shock。 Great read 📖
Julie,
Probably more of a 2。75 star for me。 Disappointed, as King is my favorite author。 Too much covid, masks, Trump for me。 :(
Kelli,
You can never go wrong with Stephen King。

I liked it more than I liked the Mr。 Mercedes trilogy。 I will be disappointed if there are any more Holly Gibney books。

Stephen King at the top of his form。 It's so nice to get another book with Holly Gibney, his private investigator character first introduced in Mr。 Mercedes。 Here, she's tasked with looking into a simple missing person case, after a young college librarian disappears while biking home from work one night。 The girl's mother is desperate and the police don't seem to be of much help。 Holly agrees to look into this and from there, the case gradually spirals out into something much larger, with a pai Stephen King at the top of his form。 It's so nice to get another book with Holly Gibney, his private investigator character first introduced in Mr。 Mercedes。 Here, she's tasked with looking into a simple missing person case, after a young college librarian disappears while biking home from work one night。 The girl's mother is desperate and the police don't seem to be of much help。 Holly agrees to look into this and from there, the case gradually spirals out into something much larger, with a pair of criminals at the center who are some of the most monstrous King's ever created。 Set during the height of the COVID pandemic, there are lots of historical markers to set the place and time。 Unlike some readers, I don't think King has a political agenda here。 And if you're just now realizing that King's a liberal, you haven't been paying attention。 Hopefully, we'll see Holly and company again。 。。。more
