I mean, great as always。 Love how much history and lore we get in this one。 Certainly not what i expected (more of an adventure than anything really) Always enjoy it when one my favorite characters is involved。

Took me a while to get through this, not exactly sure why。 The world Sanderson built is as interesting as ever and the story took a fun adventurous turn that I was not expecting。 It did feel a bit like series-padding though, like there were some key plot points and moments of growth the character had to go through to get them in place for the finale and we were following along as the author moved her through the necessary steps to get there。 That said, I did enjoy it a lot in the end。 Just not i Took me a while to get through this, not exactly sure why。 The world Sanderson built is as interesting as ever and the story took a fun adventurous turn that I was not expecting。 It did feel a bit like series-padding though, like there were some key plot points and moments of growth the character had to go through to get them in place for the finale and we were following along as the author moved her through the necessary steps to get there。 That said, I did enjoy it a lot in the end。 Just not in a mindblowing 5/5 amazing way that I typically feel after reading a Sanderson novel。 Keen for the next one。 。。。more

Woah。 Brandon Sanderson sure can write a book! It’s been months since I had this fun reading a book。The world building- the Nowhere was awesome and the new characters, the ordeal spensa had to go through- everything about this book was perfect。 We get to learn a lot about identity, family, friendship, promises and duty。 I loved how our characters developed and I’m very excited to read Defiant。Considering how I don’t remember how much I loved Starsight, I can definitely say that this is the best Woah。 Brandon Sanderson sure can write a book! Creo que es el más flojillo de la saga de momento y me ha costado avanzar en cierto punto del libro, pero es Sanderson y lo hace todo bien así que, al final, 4 estrellitas。

Eu tô ficando CANSADA de dar cinco estrelas pros livros do Brandon。 Esse homem não erra nunca! Meu Deus que livro, que desenvolvimento de personagens, que narrativa brilhante! Eu amo essa série demais。
Kayla Sharpe,
It makes sense that Spensa spent most of this book in the Nowhere, since that’s exactly where the plot leads…。。 I liked the first two, but this was so painfully hard to get through。 Most of the book felt like filler。 Instead of MBot being the lovable sidekick I actually felt myself trying to skim the parts with him in it due to him being so annoying。 This book has the potential to make a visually appealing movie, but I still think the plot would overall prove disappointing。 I’m really hoping the It makes sense that Spensa spent most of this book in the Nowhere, since that’s exactly where the plot leads…。。 I liked the first two, but this was so painfully hard to get through。 Most of the book felt like filler。 Instead of MBot being the lovable sidekick I actually felt myself trying to skim the parts with him in it due to him being so annoying。 This book has the potential to make a visually appealing movie, but I still think the plot would overall prove disappointing。 I’m really hoping the fourth book redeems it, but I am hesitant。 。。。more

I just adore characters that accept their mistakes, learn and change。<3 This book was perfect for me, it gave me life and energy to face reality, if that makes sense。

Anouk,

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I was really looking forward to this book。 I had hoped that the team would all eventually be back together and explanations given for some of the gaping questions I still have。 I have such a feeling of being let down with this。 Who are the delvers, really? Are they people? Are the AI that can turn into people? If Chet can materialize, can the rest of them? What about the slugs? How do they help pilots? Did Detritus figure it out? What the heck does Spensa and the rest of the folks on Detritus do I was really looking forward to this book。 I had hoped that the team would all eventually be back together and explanations given for some of the gaping questions I still have。 I have such a feeling of being let down with this。 Who are the delvers, really? 3。75 Engaging, endearing book。 Even though I haven't been as thrilled about the plot divergence in the second two books of this series, the one thing I have consistently loved are the characters we meet along the way。 So even though I find the plot a little tried and true, it's so much fun and easy to love I forgive it entirely。 3。75 Engaging, endearing book。 Even though I haven't been as thrilled about the plot divergence in the second two books of this series, the one thing I have consistently loved are the characters we meet along the way。 So even though I find the plot a little tried and true, it's so much fun and easy to love I forgive it entirely。 。。。more

Absolutely amazing。 Sanderson has a way of touching your soul。 I loved watching Spensa continue to grow into who she is becoming。 And there were happy moments with new and returning characters。 The only thing I'd fuss about is Evershore should be before this book or definitely read before the epilogue of this book because of major spoilers。 Absolutely amazing。 Sanderson has a way of touching your soul。 I loved watching Spensa continue to grow into who she is becoming。 And there were happy moments with new and returning characters。 The only thing I'd fuss about is Evershore should be before this book or definitely read before the epilogue of this book because of major spoilers。 。。。more

Cytonic: 8/10By: Brandon SandersontYet again completely changing the genre for the Skyward series, and yet again pulling it off with flying colors, Cytonic takes the leap away from sci-fi thriller and away from Star Trek-esque espionage and instead goes headfirst into the adventure genre。Cytonic on one hand suffers from the big change of genre, but what suffers in my opinion is the overall arch of the series, not at all the plot or the writing of this individual book, which is still fantastic。 I Cytonic: 8/10By: Brandon SandersontYet again completely changing the genre for the Skyward series, and yet again pulling it off with flying colors, Cytonic takes the leap away from sci-fi thriller and away from Star Trek-esque espionage and instead goes headfirst into the adventure genre。Cytonic on one hand suffers from the big change of genre, but what suffers in my opinion is the overall arch of the series, not at all the plot or the writing of this individual book, which is still fantastic。 Instead it’s hard to shake the feeling of the book being just a little bit… superfluous? Extra? Unneeded? Cytonic feels a bit like the book that happens in the background of the actual plot, where normally we would’ve continued the main storyline and already introduced characters who would’ve been lost and concerned and only gotten tidbits of what the disappeared character(s) were up to in their grand and awesome adventures。 (view spoiler)[It feels weird to instead just put the main plot on pause and go off galavanting with space pirates。 I mean, it works, but it’s still a little weird and leads to something just a little short of satisfying in the ending。 (hide spoiler)]And yet, at the same time ‘superfluous’ is too harsh a word for this book。 Because Spensa’s character growth, as well as M-Bot’s, is really something special and genuinely heartwarming。 Spensa talking to M-Bot about what it’s like to be angry, and to feel betrayal, and how “It’s just life。 But sometimes talking about it makes it feel better…。 Because I’m your friend, M-Bot。 And that’s what friends do。 Share。” (108) Just made me feel plain FUZZY inside in the best way possible。 I may be a hint older than Spensa, but I related so much to so many of her struggles in this book。 Trust, personal sacrifice versus fulfillment, friendship, regret。 Augh。 I love it so much。 ‘Filler’ doesn’t qualify as ‘filler’ when the characters are still growing and the plot is still moving (no matter how invisibly) in the background。Yeah。 I guess I don’t actually have much to say。 I love how pleasant everyone is in this book, and I super enjoyed it, but it feels as if the stakes are considerably lowered for this little episode。 It feels a little bit like a tie-over until the actual finale。But you know what? I could use a little tie-over with low stakes from time to time。 。。。more

Once again, Sanderson has created an excellent novel。 The third book within the Skyward series, Cytonic provides an excellent transition from the chaos of the second novel to the hope that will be present within Defiant。 The protagonist has had a character that has been relatively set in stone, with only a minor character arc up until this point。 Yet, throughout this novel, she is able to undergo a massive change, and grows incredibly because of it。 I do have to say that I was not expecting the Once again, Sanderson has created an excellent novel。 The third book within the Skyward series, Cytonic provides an excellent transition from the chaos of the second novel to the hope that will be present within Defiant。 The protagonist has had a character that has been relatively set in stone, with only a minor character arc up until this point。 Yet, throughout this novel, she is able to undergo a massive change, and grows incredibly because of it。 I do have to say that I was not expecting the turn of events — the major plot twist — that occurs later in the novel。 I had no idea that it would occur, yet many clues were there, leading up to it。 I am now reading the Skyward novellas, which technically fall between the second and third books。 While I know the general plot line to follow within the novellas, as I am done with Cytonic, they're still engaging reading, especially since they're told from another perspective。All-in-all, I would highly recommend this series, and am looking forward to the release of Defiant。 。。。more

3。5 stars。 With this entry in the Skyward series being more lore heavy, a lot of the momentum from the previous books seemed to come to a screeching halt。 Still enjoyable though I found much of middle unnecessary and tedious。 The ending was well worth the slog though。
