Summary

New York Times bestseller Lisa Kleypas returns with an enthralling and steaming romance between a widowed lady and a Scot on the run—who may have connections to one of London's most noble families。

“The devil never tries to make people do the wrong thing by scaring them。 He does it by tempting them。”

Lady Merritt Sterling, a strong-willed young widow who’s running her late husband’s shipping company, knows London society is dying to catch her in a scandal。 So far, she’s been too smart to provide them with one。 But then she meets Keir MacRae, a rough-and-rugged Scottish whisky distiller, and all her sensible plans vanish like smoke。 They couldn’t be more different, but their attraction is powerful, raw and irresistible。

From the moment Keir MacRae arrives in London, he has two goals。 One: don’t fall in love with the dazzling Lady Merritt Sterling。 Two: avoid being killed。

So far, neither of those is going well。

Keir doesn’t know why someone wants him dead until fate reveals his secret connection to one of England’s most powerful families。 His world is thrown into upheaval, and the only one he trusts is Merritt。

Their passion blazes with an intensity Merritt has never known before, making her long for the one thing she can’t have from Keir MacRae: forever。 As danger draws closer, she’ll do whatever it takes to save the man she loves。。。 even knowing he might be the devil in disguise。

This book was SUCH a delight。 This was like a love letter from LK to her fans。 It was everything I could want from an LK novel。 ♥️Keir and Merritt were absolutely wonderful。 They had immediate chemistry and I loved their banter。 The beautiful, romantic things Keir says to her… I may have swooned a little。 Well, maybe I didn’t *actually* swoon, but I tabbed so many pages。 😍😂I’m sure not everyone will enjoy all the Wallflower cameos and references, but I ate them up。 Give me more of Sebastian and This book was SUCH a delight。 This was like a love letter from LK to her fans。 It was everything I could want from an LK novel。 ♥️Keir and Merritt were absolutely wonderful。 They had immediate chemistry and I loved their banter。 The beautiful, romantic things Keir says to her… I may have swooned a little。 Well, maybe I didn’t *actually* swoon, but I tabbed so many pages。 😍😂I’m sure not everyone will enjoy all the Wallflower cameos and references, but I ate them up。 Give me more of Sebastian and Westcliff, please!!!!! 😍♥️I’m both sad and excited that the Ravenels series over。 Sad because it is SO GOOD and I don’t want it to end, but excited to see what LK has in store next for us。 No matter what it is, you bet I will be there on release day。 。。。more

I loved the Ravenel series。 Now I need to reread the others and the Wallflowers again to connect the dots。 The 7th book centered on Merritt, the intelligent widowed daughter of Lord Westcliff and Lillian Bowman from the Wallflowers series, as she falls hard for a magnificent Scottish whisky maker。 I loved the crossover and connections between the generations and the technology advancements between the series。 What a fantastic Christmas party they must have every year。

a fluff piece good for an afternoon readMerritt is the daughter of an Earl and a widow who runs her late husband’s shipping line。 Keir is a whiskey distiller from Scotland。 It’s instant admiration and attraction。 The two characters were interesting and likable。 The story went south when the rich and beautiful characters took over。

i would read literally ANYTHING featuring Sebastian, i’d like at least 10 more books about him lisa kleypas can honestly do nothing wrong for me 6/5

3。5 stars。 I enjoyed the story but I’m so disappointed that none of that we only briefly meet two Ravanels in this story and Kier isn’t even related to them。 This should be some subset of the Wallflower Series。 Don’t tell me it’s a Ravanel book without a glimpse of West。

As for the main romance idk how I felt about it but seeing my old favs made me really happy and the union between the families because of Keir and Merritt was sweet。 No one does historical romance better than Kleypas!!!

Book #7 in The Ravenels, and the first book I’ve read in this series。 I adored it - so so good!! If like me, you haven’t read any books in this series, it’s perfectly okay to start with this one。 Our hero is a swoon-worthy, bearded, and brawny Scotsman, Keir MacRae, who owns a whiskey distillery on a remote scottish island。Keir’s in London with his new shipment of whiskey, and it’s there he meets (and instantly falls for) our heroine, Lady Merritt Sterling, owner/operator of her late-husbands sh Book #7 in The Ravenels, and the first book I’ve read in this series。 I adored it - so so good!! And a sweet surprise announced at the end sealed it!! Highly recommend。 。。。more

Fabulous progression Having read all of the Ravenel series and all of the Wallflowers series, I throughly enjoyed the incorporation of previous characters and the rolls they played in the current book。 Thank you, Lisa for sharing your extraordinary talents。

This book shouldn't work, to be honest。 It's got all the tropes。 All of them。 You want a road trip? Done。 You want someone discovering they're actually nobility and heir to a fortune? Ok。 You want grumpy one loves sunshine one? It's here。 But damn it, Lisa Kleypas is such a good writer it all works。 It WORKS。 Her status as an autobuy author for me remains unchanged, and whatever she does next, I'm here for it。 This book shouldn't work, to be honest。 It's got all the tropes。 All of them。 You want a road trip? 3。8 rounded upStuff I loved: Generally, I do not like insta love but when it’s done well, I can really get into it and it’s done impeccably well here。 Merritt and Keir fall for each other HARD and barely grapple with the “reasons they can’t be together” At one point they even agree that while being together might have challenges it sure does beat not being together! Lisa Kleypas really is the queen。 Her writing is articulate and intense without being a burden。 It has been so much fun to continue reading the “wallflower world” that she created snd to visit old characters in new ways。 Merrit and Keir were a delightful couple。 Appreciated her being a working widow and not a willowy blonde。

Widowed Lady Merritt Sterling is running her late husband’s shipping company and has major trouble with Scottish whisky distiller Keir McRae’s shipment。 They live completely different lives, but face a powerful attraction。 When secrets from Keir’s past put him in danger, Merritt puts her reputation on the line to keep him safe。This is book seven in the Ravenels series, but has deep ties to the Wallflowers series。 I would highly recommend reading the following titles before this one: It Happened Widowed Lady Merritt Sterling is running her late husband’s shipping company and has major trouble with Scottish whisky distiller Keir McRae’s shipment。 They live completely different lives, but face a powerful attraction。 When secrets from Keir’s past put him in danger, Merritt puts her reputation on the line to keep him safe。This is book seven in the Ravenels series, but has deep ties to the Wallflowers series。 I would highly recommend reading the following titles before this one: It Happened One Autumn, Devil In Winter, Hello Stranger, and Devil’s Daughter。As a longtime Kleypas reader, I devoured this book。 It was filled with fun, family, and flirtatious energy。 To avoid spoilers, I won’t say much about the plot, but I adore the continued world-building and chance to return to the characters I love。 Tropes: Class Difference, Widow, Working Heroine, Nursed to HealthSteam Rating: 3 。。。more

I really enjoyed this little gem, but how it was a Ravenel book was a mystery。 If anything it was a Wallflower 2。0。 I also didn't have an issue with Keir's parentage。 We always knew he was a bad boy, so I wasn't surprised in the least。 I enjoyed it and hope we get more of the 2。0 in the future, she has plenty of material to work with。 :-) I really enjoyed this little gem, but how it was a Ravenel book was a mystery。 If anything it was a Wallflower 2。0。 I also didn't have an issue with Keir's parentage。 We always knew he was a bad boy, so I wasn't surprised in the least。 I enjoyed it and hope we get more of the 2。0 in the future, she has plenty of material to work with。 :-) 。。。more

It felt like Lisa Kleypas had a checklist of things the characters were going to do。。 fall in love in fifty pages, discover hero’s secret, convene favorite characters from past books, resolve all plot points neatly。 The writing lacked passion, the characters lacked depth, it was hard to care one way or the other about the outcome。 Very disappointed。
