This story was such a fun adventure！ It was quite enjoyable to return to Midscape through a different lens， seeing the perspective of the fae instead of the elves。 The best way I can describe this story is Cinderella mixed with Cruel Prince and perhaps a smidgen of Throne of Glass （which is also a loosely based Cinderella retelling）。 Imagine that Cinderella was married off to a fae prince and was then swept up into a whirlwind adventure with magic， danger， and romance。 It's got elements from the This story was such a fun adventure！ It was quite enjoyable to return to Midscape through a different lens， seeing the perspective of the fae instead of the elves。 The best way I can describe this story is Cinderella mixed with Cruel Prince and perhaps a smidgen of Throne of Glass （which is also a loosely based Cinderella retelling）。 Imagine that Cinderella was married off to a fae prince and was then swept up into a whirlwind adventure with magic， danger， and romance。 It's got elements from the classic Fairytale we knew as children but takes a deeper and more realistic look into the trauma and psychological abuse the Stepmother and stepsisters inflicted on the heroine。 There's a particular element that I can't discuss yet because it's a huge spoiler but I will tell you I outright squealed when I realized a suspicion I had early on proved to be right。 If you've seen Carnival Row， you will probably get the same suspicion I did when you read。 😉Just as with Elf King， Kova tells a captivating story full of loveable characters， characters you love to hate， and breathtakingly beautiful settings。 There were a few times when sentences didn't flow as concisely as they could have， making me stop and have to reread slower to comprehend。 I did， however， get the honor of reading this as an e-arc， so there's always the possibility those things will be fine tuned before final printing。 The only other thing that irked me slightly （and this is probably just personal preference） is the slight overuse of characters pursing their lips。 Aside from that， I devoured this story and would read a dozen more Married to Magic novels if Kova wanted to write them。 One final note: these books are technically stand alones so despite taking place in the same world， you don't have to read it as a series。。。 though I recommend doing so。 This book introduced new characters for us to fall in love with， but I still smiled like an idiot whenever the Elf King and Human Queen were mentioned。 Although。。。 as I type this I wonder how different my experience might have been if I read this first and then met the Elf King and his Human Queen。 The perspective would be completely different I imagine。 Regardless of what order you read them in， I definitely recommend reading any and all Married to Magic books。 I received this book as an arc， but this review is completely of my own volition。 。。。more
