Summary

Ponyboy can count on his brothers and his friends, but not on much else besides trouble with the Socs, a vicious gang of rich kids who get away with everything, including beating up greasers like Ponyboy。 At least he knows what to expect--until the night someone takes things too far。

Written forty-five years ago, S。 E。 Hinton's classic story of a boy who finds himself on the outskirts of regular society remains as powerful today as it was the day it was written。

my teacher Ms 。Andrae made us read this book in class before covid-19 closed all the schools down so I never really took the book seriously until I got bored one night and I started to pick up the book and start reading,。。。。。 and I couldn't put down so I finished it in one day! I read this for school which usually ruins books for me, (if I read them at all), but this book is wonderful。 This is an honest and relatable book that puts social issues into context。 It's an excellent story that follows a young boy born on the wrong side of town dabbling with gangs, fights, and a life at home with no parents。 This story will captivate you, while putting in perspective certain things you never really thought about。 I read this for school which usually ruins books for me, (if I read them at all), but this book is wonderful。 This is an honest and relatable book that puts social issues into context。 It's an excellent story that follows a young boy born on the wrong side of town dabbling with gangs, fights, and a life at home with no parents。 This story will captivate you, while putting in perspective certain things you never really thought about。 。。。more

Probably ground breaking in its time。I really enjoyed the main characters, and the storytelling style。 It often really felt like a young person just telling a story。I felt the book didn't succeed in showing that both rich and poor kids have it rough。One thing I liked was the contrasts within each character。 These young boys are ready to brutally fight another gang, then do their chores at home。 Probably ground breaking in its time。I really enjoyed the main characters, and the storytelling style。 It often really felt like a young person just telling a story。I felt the book didn't succeed in showing that both rich and poor kids have it rough。One thing I liked was the contrasts within each character。 These young boys are ready to brutally fight another gang, then do their chores at home。 。。。more

As a child of the 80s, I am surprised I didn’t read this book back then。 In my 50th year, I find I can still relate to these teens, outsiders to all。 The story is timeless really。 I wonder what other gems I’ve missed out on。

I watched the movie first, and just got around to reading the book。 I love them both so much! Such an amazing story about family and friends。 A must read

Nice quick read about how groups of people perceive and misperceive other groups of people。

This book is one of the worst books I have read, but maybe that's just because I haven't read many bad books。 It feels like it is a published fanfiction, and not a good one。 The pacing was weird and I felt like there was no actual plot。 Maybe I don't like it because I had to read it for school, but one thing is for certain。 I never want to read this book again。 This book is one of the worst books I have read, but maybe that's just because I haven't read many bad books。 It feels like it is a published fanfiction, and not a good one。 The pacing was weird and I felt like there was no actual plot。 Maybe I don't like it because I had to read it for school, but one thing is for certain。 I never want to read this book again。 。。。more

I wish I enjoyed it, but I really didn’t。 Maybe I was just too young (11) when I read it, but I just couldn’t enjoy it。

This book was different。 I felt it so raw and true。 Characters and everything。 I’m gonna give it to a friend of mine。

I’m literally obsessed。 The story, the characters! Everything is so good! By far the best book I’ve been forced to read for English!

3。5 StarsI found the first half of this book really hard to get into。 Maybe it was just me- I dunno。 But by the end, I really liked it, and was pretty invested。 I don't know if it's held up that well, though。 3。5 StarsI found the first half of this book really hard to get into。 Maybe it was just me- I dunno。 But by the end, I really liked it, and was pretty invested。 I don't know if it's held up that well, though。 。。。more

I saw this book often in my life but never grabbed a copy to read。 There was a movie that I often glanced at on video store shelves but never watched it。 Then an audio version became available through our local library so I checked it out。 When it was first released I was a young wife and new mom。 I had no time to read because I also worked and my husband honestly thought housework, food prep and child care were also my job。 This was a great read。 I felt so bad when a character died that I got a I saw this book often in my life but never grabbed a copy to read。 There was a movie that I often glanced at on video store shelves but never watched it。 Then an audio version became available through our local library so I checked it out。 When it was first released I was a young wife and new mom。 I had no time to read because I also worked and my husband honestly thought housework, food prep and child care were also my job。 This was a great read。 I felt so bad when a character died that I got a bit teary eyed。 The author has an intro and tells the reader why she wrote the book and why she thinks it is still popular。 Teens always seem to divide into cliques and there’s always a group of jocks and one of nerds。 Things never really change。 。。。more
