Summary

Six teens murdered。 A suspect behind bars。 A desperate father。 In a case this shadowy, the truth is easy to hide。

Six teenagers dead。 Finally, the killer behind bars。 But are the games just beginning?

Psychiatrist Dr。 Gwen Moore is an expert on killers。 She’s spent a decade treating California’s most depraved predators and unlocking their motives—predators much like the notorious Bloody Heart serial killer, whose latest teenage victim escaped and then identified local high school teacher Randall Thompson as his captor。 The case against Thompson as the Bloody Heart Killer is damning—and closed, as far as Gwen and the media are concerned。 If not for one new development…

Defense attorney Robert Kavin is a still-traumatized father whose own son fell prey to the BH Killer。 Convinced of Thompson’s innocence, he steps in to represent him。 Now Robert wants Gwen to interview the accused, create a psych profile of the killer and his victims, and help clear his client’s name。

As Gwen and Robert grow closer and she dives deeper into the investigation, grave questions arise。 So does Gwen’s suspicion that Robert is hiding something—and that he might not be the only one with a secret。

I was sure this was going to be a new 5⭐️ favourite up until the reveals started happening。 As a whole, this story really delves into the shortcomings we all have。 The moments we miss and the lies we don’t catch。 I was sure this was going to become very sinister and the twists would be even darker but they weren’t。 Would have been good to have some flashbacks in different perspectives to really force it home。 As it was I had figured out a lot of what would happen and this time it impacted my exp I was sure this was going to be a new 5⭐️ favourite up until the reveals started happening。 As a whole, this story really delves into the shortcomings we all have。 The moments we miss and the lies we don’t catch。 I was sure this was going to become very sinister and the twists would be even darker but they weren’t。 Would have been good to have some flashbacks in different perspectives to really force it home。 As it was I had figured out a lot of what would happen and this time it impacted my experience。 。。。more

What an emotional roller coaster ride that was。 Thanks, ms。 Alessandra Torre for the adrenaline rush and for lifting me up from a reading slump if only for a while。 Still don’t know what to feel about that ending though。

4 1/2 Stars! This book was fabulous! I flat out loved it。 I really love when Ms。 Torre writes in this genre。 She has a gift at telling a good, twisty tale。 This one is a troubling one for sure。 It is based on a serial killer known as the Bloody Heart Killer who has kidnapped, murdered and maimed six teenage boys。 The story opens with the most recent (seventh) kidnap victim escaping and returning home。Our main character, Gwen, is a psychologist to those who want to commit violent acts against othe 4 1/2 Stars! This book was fabulous! Hmmm…。Still trying to figure out how I feel about this book。For the first 80%, I really liked it and didn’t want to put it down Then it took a twist that I’m still not sure how I feel about。 Additionally, I had problems with some of the professionally ethical questions and behaviors, particularly on Gwen’s part。 That is why I down rated it from 5 to 4 stars。 So, 5 stars for style and engaging the reader, 4 for plot。
