Summary

Secrets and lies。。。。at Nantucket's most exclusive and glamorous, family-owned hotel。

A new, dramatic family saga from the Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestseller author of The Nantucket Inn and The Restaurant。

The Whitley was Nantucket's most exclusive hotel。 It was a sprawling collection of pristine white cottages and an elegant main building on a long stretch of private, white sandy beach。 The list of famous celebrity guests that had visited over the years was top secret and a matter of pride to the Whitley family。 If you worked in the hospitality industry, landing a job at The Whitley was the ultimate goal。 Many of the staff had lived and worked there for years。 There were strict rules about the staff keeping their distance from both the guests and the family。 But sometimes, rules were broken。

No one is more surprised than Paula Whitley when her grandfather, Wynn Whitley, the founder of the hotel and many other business holdings, makes two big announcements。 He is promoting Paula from her quiet behind the scenes role handling the accounting, to being in charge of everything。 The rest of the family, siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles and parents, are stunned and not everyone is happy about it。

And the second big announcement--she's expected to work closely with a newly-hired consultant, a turnaround expert in luxury hotels。 Paula dislikes David Connolly immediately。 He's arrogant and bossy and annoyingly right most of the time。 She'd be loving her new role, if it wasn't for him。 And everyone, family and staff are wondering--what is grandfather's goal? Is he looking to sell The Whitley?

Quick easy read。 Not a lot of drama。 Good beach book when you don’t want to think hard, but not a deep plot line。 Everyone ends up together happily。 But it felt like a good inside peak to watch Nantucket is like and the hotel/restaurant industry。 If this were a series, I think it could be developed more。

If you've enjoyed Pamela Kelley's Nantucket books, add this one to your list。 The story revolves around the best and priciest hotel on Nantucket, which is family owned。 The Grandfather is still in charge and he decides to remove one grand daughter from the GM role and give it to another, who didn't ever consider it as something she'd want。The story doesn't have a lot of plot, but it has a lot of characters that you may want to know。 The people in Kelley's books get along well with family and oth If you've enjoyed Pamela Kelley's Nantucket books, add this one to your list。 The story revolves around the best and priciest hotel on Nantucket, which is family owned。 The Grandfather is still in charge and he decides to remove one grand daughter from the GM role and give it to another, who didn't ever consider it as something she'd want。The story doesn't have a lot of plot, but it has a lot of characters that you may want to know。 The people in Kelley's books get along well with family and others, but there are a few exceptions。 These people have relationships that you or people you know have。 Some people fall in love, some people decide they're better as friends。 This is a great read for relaxing at home or on the beach。 It's clean - anyone can read and enjoy it。 I have enjoyed all of the Nantucket books that Pamela has written to date。 。。。more

I totally enjoyed this story。 It leaves you feeling like a trip to Nantucket。 The description made you feel like you were there。 The characters all had their own struggles but they each followed their heart。 Sometimes they found that what they think they want isn't what they need。 I totally enjoyed this story。 It leaves you feeling like a trip to Nantucket。 The description made you feel like you were there。 The characters all had their own struggles but they each followed their heart。 Sometimes they found that what they think they want isn't what they need。 。。。more

A heartwarming story about families and finding your place in the world。 I liked how the story followed four cousins (three are siblings and their cousin) and instead of breaking it out into four different books, you get all the stories here (no cliffhangers)。 It was a quick read, perfect for the beach or to just lose yourself in a story for awhile。 The narration was well done but mispronunciation of one word kind of bothered me (it only happened twice)。(view spoiler)[ I get that it’s a small is A heartwarming story about families and finding your place in the world。 I liked how the story followed four cousins (three are siblings and their cousin) and instead of breaking it out into four different books, you get all the stories here (no cliffhangers)。 It was a quick read, perfect for the beach or to just lose yourself in a story for awhile。 The narration was well done but mispronunciation of one word kind of bothered me (it only happened twice)。(view spoiler)[ I get that it’s a small island and there’s not a lot of singles but dating your boss (who used to be the GM) is usually frowned upon in hotels (or any industry, really)。 I found this odd。 (hide spoiler)]I received a copy from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

I really enjoyed this audiobook。 The narrator was excellent and the narration never detracted from the story。 The Hotel covered many different relationships, with the main characters being Paula,, Andrea and Nick。 I would have enjoyed more of Paula's story, as Paula always seemed to be in the background。 But all in all it was a great beach listen。 Thank you to netgalley and Dreamscape Media for a copy of the audiobook in return for a fair and honest review。 I really enjoyed this audiobook。 The narrator was excellent and the narration never detracted from the story。 The Hotel covered many different relationships, with the main characters being Paula,, Andrea and Nick。 I would have enjoyed more of Paula's story, as Paula always seemed to be in the background。 But all in all it was a great beach listen。 Thank you to netgalley and Dreamscape Media for a copy of the audiobook in return for a fair and honest review。 。。。more

Good characters and dialogue but no violence or sex。 This is a quiet book about a family run hotel。 There is plenty of romance, food and Nantucket。

Nothing I love better then a story of a fabulous hotel and the hoteliers that run it。 Full of well done story lines and good food, outdoor descriptions of the Island of Nantucket are wonderful!

I enjoyed this as an audiobook。 Initially, keeping up with all the characters was a little confusing, but after listening a while I was able to keep them straight。 I am also coming to love books about Nantucket。 The book follows Paula Whitley and her family who all work at the family-owned hotel, The Whitley。 Paula is given the general manager role at the hotel。 Her grandfather hires a consultant, David, to help guide her and assess how well she is doing with the job。 Nick is Paula’s brother and I enjoyed this as an audiobook。 Initially, keeping up with all the characters was a little confusing, but after listening a while I was able to keep them straight。 I am also coming to love books about Nantucket。 The book follows Paula Whitley and her family who all work at the family-owned hotel, The Whitley。 Paula is given the general manager role at the hotel。 Her grandfather hires a consultant, David, to help guide her and assess how well she is doing with the job。 Nick is Paula’s brother and a chef at The Whitley。 The book explores many family relationships and dynamics。 。。。more

The Hotel is a nice breezy read。 There’s just enough drama and suspense to keep you turning the pages, with a healthy dose of romance thrown in。 If you read everything Nantucket related, then add this to your book stack。

Fun book。 I liked how the characters were able to grow。 It was great to see how they contemplated some of the decisions they needed to make。 Of course, it was a bit predictable, but it was still a satisfactory story and worth the read。

Sweet storyThis is a very sweet story for what is known as a good beach read, but without any substance。 The characters were all very one dimensional , and it was obvious from the first chapter there would be a happy ending。。。 Don't bother。 Sweet storyThis is a very sweet story for what is known as a good beach read, but without any substance。 The characters were all very one dimensional , and it was obvious from the first chapter there would be a happy ending。。。 Don't bother。 。。。more

I stumbled on Pamela Kelley books randomly as I was looking for a filler in between Elin Hilderbrand's! Thanks to Netgalley for The Hotel by Pamela Kelley。 I am a big fan of the Beach Plum Cove B & B series and some of the main characters from that series have cameos in this book。 This author is very entertaining and her books seem to guarantee family relationships, food and wine (lots of both), a little intrigue and a little romance。 It won’t tax your brain except for the number of characters but is a fun read set on Nantucket。This one appears to be a stand-alone and it was good but I prefer the Thanks to Netgalley for The Hotel by Pamela Kelley。 I am a big fan of the Beach Plum Cove B & B series and some of the main characters from that series have cameos in this book。 This author is very entertaining and her books seem to guarantee family relationships, food and wine (lots of both), a little intrigue and a little romance。 It won’t tax your brain except for the number of characters but is a fun read set on Nantucket。This one appears to be a stand-alone and it was good but I prefer the series books because you get to find out what happens next。 。。。more

The writing style was grammatically sound with a decent flow, but it was so light that the entire book was fluff and not much of anything apart from light conversation。 The dialogue was as plain and vanilla as a technical writing piece。 No flavor made it a dull read。 At least it was never inappropriate or too lusty。 I was not at all impressed and skimmed to the finale。

This is a great clean romance。 I think it would be great for a Hallmark movie。 I loved how the story revolves around 3 Whitley’s who work at their Grandfather’s hotel。 It is a different concept to follow 3 characters and their budding and no-so budding relationships。 I thought this was an engaging story and I wanted to know more about some of the ancillary characters, so I hope there is a second book or a novella about a couple of the other characters。
