Summary

In the long-awaited follow-up to the #1 bestselling thriller INVISIBLE 。 。 。 the perfect murder always looks like an accident。

FBI agent Emmy Dockery is absolutely relentless。 She's young and driven, and her unique skill at seeing connections others miss has brought her an impressive string of arrests。

But a shocking new case -- unfolding across the country -- has left her utterly baffled。

The victims all appear to have died by accident, and have seemingly nothing in common。 But this many deaths can't be coincidence。 And the killer is somehow one step ahead of every move Dockery makes。 How?

To FBI special agent Harrison "Books" Bookman, everyone in the FBI is a suspect -- particularly Emmy Dockery (the fact that she's his ex-fiancee doesn't make it easier)。

But someone else is watching Dockery。 Studying, learning, waiting。 Until it's the perfect time to strike。

this is literally the best book i have ever read there are so many twists and turns that no one would expect, i thought the first book (invisible) was good but dang james patterson has done it again constantly raising the bar for other authors。 a standing ovation from me。 i will reread this so many times, i would recommend giving it a go if you are looking for a good read, but make sure to read the first book!!

Notes:First book was ok but this one was overly dramatic in how the MC and the plot was paper thin。 One of those books I wish I had borrowed from the library vs paid for。 =P

Leanna

Definitely a good sequel。。。 it had me guessing all the way to the end!

Emmy is a FBI analyst with a fiance that is ex-FBI turned bookseller。 Emmy is hunting a serial killer she's been told to stop hunting。。。

Kenneth Sowers

plot a bit overdramatized,

A quick easy read by James Patterson。 I got into this book right away and I enjoyed the backstory and characters。 However why do we have to have so many twists in the final 50 pages。 It kind of takes away everything else that happens in the book。

Kathleen

As always Patterson keeps you hooked until the last page。

Lynda Baylem

Thoroughly enjoyed this thriller except for the strange twist at the end with ? being the Darwin。。。。

Interesting story but I think it was too layered from a story perspective。 I understand the authors want to keep the readers guessing but I think it was too much and might a pretty simple book a bit complex at times。

An entertaining romp。One quote I loved (mostly because I was stage crew):"We are the analysts。 If the special agents are the movie stars, wearing pancake makeup, moving authoritatively around the stage, and talking about search warrants and high-risk apprehensions, then we are the stage crew behind the curtain, quirky and unsightly, a band of talented misfits who use terms like anomaly detection, logistic regression, and inductively generated sequential patterns。"

Josephine

To many suspects。

Ebony

Stressful, but in a good way。 I REAALLLY hope Emmy will be taken more seriously in the future 😠😆

Such a page turner。 Agent Emily can't let her skills and suspicions go, even if nobody in the agency will back her up。 Not even her fiance。 The players in this mystery keep you guessing for sure。 This book is so much better than the first, Invisible。 At least I think so!

Mystery book clubAlways a great read。 Lots of action and great plot。I've never yet read a book by him that I didn't like。All the books I've read the book Always moves along and action。Keeps me reading。

Awesome as usual。James Patterson cannot write a bad book! This book is another twist and turn story that keeps you on the edge of your seat。 Patterson does not disappoint。

Any Length

Not a bad read, but I found the story a wee bit too long and some things I just didn't buy。 The homeless guy "Mayday" (spelling?) was said to have this spot where he collected money and also sang for money。 Stayed out there for hours every day。 And sang! Then it turns out he has chronic pulmonary disease!!! How there hell can someone sing for hours with that condition??? Where did he get the breath to sing from? Stuff like that should have been picked up by a good editor。 The rest was ok。

Sheila Hebert

I enjoyed this book。 It was fast-paced and I think one of the better Patterson books。

John

This was an excellent mystery that kept me unsure of the ending until the ending。 Really enjoyed it!

I found it sluggish to get going initially, but perhaps that's because I've not read a James Patterson book before。 But what it lack at the start, it certainly made up for after the first third of the book read! So enjoyable。

Another book about serial killers。。。。 sometimes I think these guys get their way of killing and hiding from reading these kind of books。This one though, is about an analyst that can spot trends from all over the country and follow a serial killer。 Sometimes they are so tricky, and kill in ways that are not immediately realize they are killed by one of those creeps。 This one touches on that kind and the bad guy was a surprise。

Sankolite

What can I say。。。 Another riveting book that I read in record time as its so hard to put down!Realised this is a sequel to a previous book that I have not read but still loved it!!I've got to a point where James Patterson books are the way to go if I'm not sure what book to go for, never been disappointed。 If I had to be isolated at home due to the Covid-19 pandemic I would hunker down with a hot coffee and a James Patterson book :)

Bill Fairchild

Didn't want to put it down - enjoyable。

All Right Now

A very slow start! It took about a quarter of the book for it to get going。 But its good, if you can bear sticking with it。 A very slow start! It took about a quarter of the book for it to get going。 But it’s good, if you can bear sticking with it。 。。。more

It was slow paced for the most part but the last few pages were fast moving and there were new twists and turns in every chapter after that。 It was quite a good read。

Barbara Bakal

The book took way too long to get to the meat of the story, and was way too convoluted at the beginning。 But the ending was fast paced and unexpected。 Not one of my favorite JP books。

Antrony Chambers

An excellent readA very good book。 I couldn't put it down。 From cover to cover this book will thrill even a person who doesn't read a lot

Emmy Dockery is a brilliant FBI analyst/detective disliked by upper management for her too efficient habits of working on her own。 Even boyfriend and FBI Special Agent, Harrison Books finds Emmy difficult at the least。 While Emmy single-handedly uncovers a new serial killer, Books is ordered to put a trail on Emmy as she discovers the killer is constantly one step ahead of her。 Why? Is there a mole inside the FBI? Are the murders connected? Is Citizen David the alleged serial killer?
