For those who know me, Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney movie period。 I was intrigued in the plot of the novel--the beast's back story in relation to the 1991 animated movie。 The book lacked depth。 I feel like it didn't really touch on the love for Belle, sh's only in two or three scenes and even then it's rushed。The back story was great and instetesting but again, lacked depth and could have been expanded more。 The author does a very good job of making you hate him with how toxic and For those who know me, Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney movie period。 I was intrigued in the plot of the novel--the beast's back story in relation to the 1991 animated movie。 The book lacked depth。 I feel like it didn't really touch on the love for Belle, sh's only in two or three scenes and even then it's rushed。The back story was great and instetesting but again, lacked depth and could have been expanded more。 The author does a very good job of making you hate him with how toxic and vile he is!(Belle may be my favorite princess but my favorite Disney prince has got to be Eric!)The author ties Gaston and the beast as life long friends but there's no resolution of that, and in the beginning made me very confused when I read the name Gaston and I was like the Gaston?? Huh? At the end when they meet, all that history is gone- Poof! Again, I feel like there could have been more there too。 Then she like just forgot about the staff once the curse set in, and mentioned them maybe once。 The witches were probably the most annoying of all, such brats!! All in all, if you're looking for something light and don't want to use your noggin, this book is great! I probably could have finished this in a day if I really wanted to。 Despite my negative feelings, I am curious to see how the Ursula book pans out。。。 。。。more

I love Beauty and The Beast so I was really excited to read this and I loved it as much as I'd hoped I would!! It was interesting to see the change in the prince and how long it took him to realise that it was his own behaviour which was causing the transformation。。 the ending though is beautiful。 I love Beauty and The Beast so I was really excited to read this and I loved it as much as I'd hoped I would!! In a reading slump so needed something light to get me back on track。 Enjoyed this retelling of my fave Disney film。 It was light and short on details but a fun and enjoyable take on the story!

The Beast Within Review! The Beast Within was exciting to read。 It was interesting to see the other side of the well known story and be able to understand who the Beast really was。 I recommend this for anyone who would like to see deeper into the story of Beauty and the Beast!

FantasticI honestly had a difficult time putting it down。 This story ties into other Disney princess stories which makes so much sense too。

Way off from the movie but also very close to the plot somehow and not in a good wayThe story line jumps around a lot! Belle is there in the beginning then the story jumps to Tulip。 Spent 60% of the book reading about the Prince’s second love interest, Tulip。 Then after that it followed the move plot to a T with some commentary from the witches。 Which, honestly there was NO point in the witches。 There was ONE enchantress in the movie, there should’ve been ONE enchantress in the retelling here。 T Way off from the movie but also very close to the plot somehow and not in a good wayThe story line jumps around a lot! A bit darker than I expected。 It definitely differs from the version we all know, but is a good story nonetheless。 I would have liked a bit more detail, there at the end。

I did not see this going the way I thought it would。 While it was hard not to compare it to the live action movie, I throughly enjoyed reading this point of view of the Beast。 And wow, what an arrogant Prince he was。 And his best friend?? DID NOT SEE THAT HAPPENING EITHER。 It was interesting to see the friendship they had before the Prince was turned into a beast。 Overall, loving reading the villains side of things…even though I never really saw the Beast as a villain but seeing his past, I can I did not see this going the way I thought it would。 While it was hard not to compare it to the live action movie, I throughly enjoyed reading this point of view of the Beast。 And wow, what an arrogant Prince he was。 And his best friend?? This is me hyping because I'm a huge fan of Beauty and the Beast。 Finally, someone decided to write in the perspective of other people not just the Disney princesses。 This is me hyping because I'm a huge fan of Beauty and the Beast。 Finally, someone decided to write in the perspective of other people not just the Disney princesses。 。。。more

For a young adult book and Disney fan, really enjoyed this take on the beasts point of view and more of a prequel to how he became a beast。 Quick easy and happy ending read。 Ready for the next one in the series。

Such a well done, artful depiction of the beasts point of view。 Also the most interesting and compelling version of Gaston I've ever seen。 Usually the character of Gaston is forced and awkward, but Valentino fit him in so naturally。 Throw in the characters she's created to see through out the series and this book is so interesting and exciting。 Love this, and highly recomend to any lover of beauty and the beast。 Such a well done, artful depiction of the beasts point of view。 Also the most interesting and compelling version of Gaston I've ever seen。 Usually the character of Gaston is forced and awkward, but Valentino fit him in so naturally。 Throw in the characters she's created to see through out the series and this book is so interesting and exciting。 Love this, and highly recomend to any lover of beauty and the beast。 。。。more

Reading some of the reviews on this book, I see a lot of reviews that were not happy with this book! That was not the case for me! It made me look at the beast in a different light! I enjoyed it so much, honestly the Prince(beast) and Gaston being best childhood friends made so much sense to me, they both were ugly cruel and vile people。 I just really enjoyed this book! I am a sucker for Disney anything so I didn't expect not to enjoy them but I did not think I would like this series as much as Reading some of the reviews on this book, I see a lot of reviews that were not happy with this book! THREE OUT OF FIVE STARS!!! 6。43 CAWPILEThis is the second book in the Villians series and I have to say that even though they both received the exact same score from me on CAWPILE (6。43)。。。I actually enjoyed this one more than Fairest of All。 This simply might just be because I enjoy the story of Beauty and the Beast more than Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs。 I found this book to be more fast-paced than the first one and the writing did seem to improve in this one compared to the first。The best THREE OUT OF FIVE STARS!!! 6。43 CAWPILEThis is the second book in the Villians series and I have to say that even though they both received the exact same score from me on CAWPILE (6。43)。。。I actually enjoyed this one more than Fairest of All。 This simply might just be because I enjoy the story of Beauty and the Beast more than Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs。 I found this book to be more fast-paced than the first one and the writing did seem to improve in this one compared to the first。The best part about this book was the mention of characters in other Disney classics such as Ursula (The Little Mermaid) and the Mirror Maker (The Wicked Queen's father)。 There again seems to be overlap in the downfall of these villians。。。which surprise surprise is VANITY! Very eager to pick up the next book in Serena Valentino's series。 。。。more

A lot was skipped over and it would have been a lot more intriguing to me to see how he viewed his curse。 It seemed like a detail added only for fun, rather than for plot and I don’t see the point in Beast viewing his curse differently/seeing different things than everybody else if that isn’t going to be explored。 I did like the mention of the Old Queen, however, and hope that mentions of Ursula in this book will be filled in by the next book! 。。。more

Hmm, my thoughts on this book。 I thought it was a bit boring。 I still prefer the 1st part of this series。 But it was definitely a good read。

It was okay, but didn't wow me。 Granted I started with the second book in the series so I may have misunderstood the premise but this one seems to stick out。 When I think about the villain of B&B it's Gaston, not Beast。 And frankly in this version I didn't wish for Beast to have his happy ending。 For all I care both him and Gaston can keep being friends in some awful afterlife place。 The wolves scene in the animated movie is the turning point but not like this。 Also, I know Belle was not like ot It was okay, but didn't wow me。 Granted I started with the second book in the series so I may have misunderstood the premise but this one seems to stick out。 When I think about the villain of B&B it's Gaston, not Beast。 And frankly in this version I didn't wish for Beast to have his happy ending。 For all I care both him and Gaston can keep being friends in some awful afterlife place。 The wolves scene in the animated movie is the turning point but not like this。 Also, I know Belle was not like other women in disney's movie (or more precisely not like people in her village) but I cringed when both she and Beast thought that about her。The two characters I'd be most interested in would be Frollo and Hades but I'm not sure they're planned and author's webpage doesn't seem to work that well。 Sadly looking at this one I guess instead of Hades we'd get Megara and for Frollo Febus。 。。。more
