Now, this great fiery beast has adopted her as his best friend and he wants to take her away from the world she’s known until now。

Fast reads? Yup, but be warned, the Phoenix Heart tales are totally addictive。 Once you start following Sersha and Kazmerev’s adventures you’ll find it ridiculously hard to stop。 I meant to just read the first one and pace myself, but ending up zooming through episodes 1 to 3 instead。 They’re that much fun。 Notwithstanding my warning, though, it’s easy to highly recommend this series so far。

This series is written like a TV episode—short and punchy but full the depth we expect from Sarah’s work。 We start with Sersha, a woman who can’t talk, who has been living at her aunt’s inn after the death of her parents。 It’s clear from the beginning that while she wants more in life, no one expects her to amount to anything and her future looks bleak。 Two injured strangers show up at the inn seeking help, and Sersha’s life is forever changed。 I don’t know what it’s like to live with a disabili This series is written like a TV episode—short and punchy but full the depth we expect from Sarah’s work。 We start with Sersha, a woman who can’t talk, who has been living at her aunt’s inn after the death of her parents。 It’s clear from the beginning that while she wants more in life, no one expects her to amount to anything and her future looks bleak。 Two injured strangers show up at the inn seeking help, and Sersha’s life is forever changed。 I don’t know what it’s like to live with a disability, particularly the inability to speak, but I could feel Sersha’s frustration through the page。 A lot of books with disabled characters gloss over it, or they make the character OP in other ways to ‘cancel out’ the disabilities (Professor X or Daredevil, for example)。 Not Sersha。 So many conflicts could have been resolved if she could just speak, and she hates it。 I love how real she feels to me, and more than that, she’s someone I can easily root for。 I can’t wait to see how she blossoms over the course of the series! 。。。more

Sarah has done it again。 A new serial series aka episodes。 While it maybe short in length the content within does not disappoint。 A disabled young woman is trying to find herself within her tiny village with a few new friends I think she’ll soar through the clouds。 July 14th cannot come soon enough。

I liked this story because not a minute went by where something wasn't happening。 The pace was furious, the situation dire, and the frustration evident in almost every action。 I highly recommend this book。 I liked this story because not a minute went by where something wasn't happening。 The pace was furious, the situation dire, and the frustration evident in almost every action。 I highly recommend this book。 。。。more

This is the start of a fabulous new story! I loved Sercha and the fact that she couldn't talk added depth to the story。 This is the start of a fabulous new story! I loved Sercha and the fact that she couldn't talk added depth to the story。 。。。more

A wonderful story。 An Elfin who was trying out to be someone's guard。 Veela was past her prime and a female and most wanted a male for a guardman。 After receiving an offer from a young man that Veela took, the adventure started as he was looking for treasure and traveled the country side。 This storytelling is additive。 Loved this book and looking for number 2。 A wonderful story。 An Elfin who was trying out to be someone's guard。 Veela was past her prime and a female and most wanted a male for a guardman。 After receiving an offer from a young man that Veela took, the adventure started as he was looking for treasure and traveled the country side。 This storytelling is additive。 Loved this book and looking for number 2。 。。。more

I'm not a fan of this short, episodic serial style of writing and very few authors could ever convince me to read their serials, but Sarah Wilson is one of them。 Perhaps the only one。 She never fails to deliver on her promises and this new series is no exception。 The story is fast paced with interesting characters and the beginning of some inventive world building。 I'm not a fan of this short, episodic serial style of writing and very few authors could ever convince me to read their serials, but Sarah Wilson is one of them。 Perhaps the only one。 She never fails to deliver on her promises and this new series is no exception。 The story is fast paced with interesting characters and the beginning of some inventive world building。 。。。more

Great start to what promises to be a wonderful series。 The characters are complex and feel real and the storyline moves quickly and keeps you spellbound until the very end。

Sersha is disabled, in that she can't speak。 This puts her at a disadvantage in her village。 One day a wounded man turns up。 He and his companion were attacked and although he was badly wounded, his companion died。 He was looking for the Chosen One - and it turns out that Chosen One is Sersha's cousin, Mally。 What the people then found was that the one who died was a Flame Rider - the rider of a Phoenix。 Just before she died she sent out a wish that her Phoenix (who died every morning and resurr Sersha is disabled, in that she can't speak。 This puts her at a disadvantage in her village。 One day a wounded man turns up。 He and his companion were attacked and although he was badly wounded, his companion died。 He was looking for the Chosen One - and it turns out that Chosen One is Sersha's cousin, Mally。 What the people then found was that the one who died was a Flame Rider - the rider of a Phoenix。 Just before she died she sent out a wish that her Phoenix (who died every morning and resurrected every night) would be born again to a new rider。 Sersha was chosen。 The people were frightened。 Not only must Sersha learn to ride and control the magic that the phoenix shared with her, but she must go with the man and her cousin back to win the competition。 Unfortunately there were others that wanted that glory for themselves - and they were willing to do anything to make it happen。 。。。more

*note* I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review* I was right to vote for this book because wow。 It went by too quick, but I definitely want to read the next one。 While Amel from Dragon School will always be my favorite of Sarah’s characters I believe Sersha is my second。 I know it is only book one, but I have a strong feeling I’m going to become as connected to her as I was to Amel。 Don’t get me wrong there are definitely similarities, but the differences are there too。 I like the *note* I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review* I was right to vote for this book because wow。 It went by too quick, but I definitely want to read the next one。 While Amel from Dragon School will always be my favorite of Sarah’s characters I believe Sersha is my second。 I know it is only book one, but I have a strong feeling I’m going to become as connected to her as I was to Amel。 Don’t get me wrong there are definitely similarities, but the differences are there too。 I like the fact the dragon calls her Little Hawk, but I want to know why。 It is possible I missed it while reading。 Sarah’s fight scenes have always been written well but it usually what comes before or after that keeps me reading。 Overall, Good first episode…I’m torn between it left something being desired because it was over so quick and it gave just enough for me to want to read the next one。 I can’t wait either way! Great start to a fun series。 It's the story of a young woman, Sersha, who wants a better life but has no way to get out of the one she's in。 Then two injured strangers are brought to her uncle's inn and it changes her life forever, bringing in incredible hope and great danger。 Sersha's disability makes her adventures particularly interesting because she can't act as a non-disabled person would at times when it's critical。 She tries to do good and she's ends up being mistreated, must find a way t Great start to a fun series。 It's the story of a young woman, Sersha, who wants a better life but has no way to get out of the one she's in。 Then two injured strangers are brought to her uncle's inn and it changes her life forever, bringing in incredible hope and great danger。 Sersha's disability makes her adventures particularly interesting because she can't act as a non-disabled person would at times when it's critical。 She tries to do good and she's ends up being mistreated, must find a way to triumph。 Supporting characters work especially Kaz, and I think we'll have more Judicus in upcoming books。 The story flows well。 You'll speed right through and be ready for episode 2! 。。。more

I was sceptical if this can hold up to Sarah Wilson's dragon rider story - either be too similar or too weak。But I needn't be worried! While the basic ingredients are very similar (disabled heroine must find her inner strength with the help of a wise companion, there's even a chosen one!), Phoenix heart has its own merits。 Loveable female main character and hopefully we'll see and hear more funny speeches from the rope worker。 Oh, and of course the phoenix。Can't wait for the adventure to truly b I was sceptical if this can hold up to Sarah Wilson's dragon rider story - either be too similar or too weak。But I needn't be worried! Cute start to this series!! I read the prequel, so I have a bit more backstory than some might, but I think it would be good either way。 I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment and on to the grander adventure! Sarah K。L。 Wilson has done it again。 A wonderful new serial series with people and creatures you love。 Thrilling tale of a girl who learns that she is now a Flame-Rider。 It will be interesting to go along with her as she adjusts to this new life。

This book carries on from the prequel Phoenix Hope where we had seen Veela, the fire rider travelling with Irault, the rope worker being attacked and left for dead。 They arrive in Landsfall and seek help, both unable to go any further than the inn they stopped at covered in blood。 Veela does not make it but before she dies she gives a fistful of ashes to the girl who tended her。 This is Sersha, she is a kitchen maid in her family's inn and a mute, who always felt alone and with nothing to look f This book carries on from the prequel Phoenix Hope where we had seen Veela, the fire rider travelling with Irault, the rope worker being attacked and left for dead。 They arrive in Landsfall and seek help, both unable to go any further than the inn they stopped at covered in blood。 Veela does not make it but before she dies she gives a fistful of ashes to the girl who tended her。 This is Sersha, she is a kitchen maid in her family's inn and a mute, who always felt alone and with nothing to look forward to in her future。 Until she is discovered by a phoenix, who lays claim to her telling her she was the human heart which helped him to live。 She who had never felt able to communicate suddenly was understood and bonded to a magical creature who vowed he would look after her no matter what。 However raiders attacked the town looking for the ai'sletta, the same thing Irault the man travelling with Veela, was looking for but no one knew what this was。 Sersha having been given a medallion by Irault though connected the dots and knew what the Hand of the Rats wanted and she was damned if she would let them have her。 However when her very aunt and the people of the community she grew up in where willing to sacrifice her it was Kazmerev who came to her rescue。 Kazmerev was still mourning his first flame rider and he wanted to make sure he would not lose his new bonded rider before he even got to know her。 I loved phoenix hope but enjoyed this first episode in season 1 even more! Sersha is a kind hearted and very brave character who puts others safety before her own and I am dying to enjoy the adventures I am sure she, Kazmerev and Irault will have in the following episodes and to see the bond between Sersha and Kazmerev grow。 The phoenix is awesome! 。。。more
