This book is divided into chapters that keep the story flowing。 I was surprised to learn that， because of how quickly tobacco depletes soils， Virginia was in trouble after the Revolutionary War。 They had mass emigration to other states。It was interesting to learn how West Virginia was formed。 I also didn't realize that more battles of the Civil War were waged in the state of Virginia （than any other state）。 No wonder it took so long to reestablish their infrastructure。  It was surprising to lear This book is divided into chapters that keep the story flowing。 I was surprised to learn that， because of how quickly tobacco depletes soils， Virginia was in trouble after the Revolutionary War。 They had mass emigration to other states。It was interesting to learn how West Virginia was formed。 I also didn't realize that more battles of the Civil War were waged in the state of Virginia （than any other state）。 No wonder it took so long to reestablish their infrastructure。  It was surprising to learn that Virginia took until 1937 to pay off its Civil War debt。 I thought the last paragraph of the "Conclusion" was strange。 。。。more
