A very dark story line during Nazi Germany。 I could not put the book down。 Felt heavy in my heart !

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I think I found a new favourite 😊The scene set in Nazi Germany would never be expected to grip you like that。Truly the words are so powerful that every aspect of her life is affected by it。

It kept me invested, but was really anti-climactic。

This is one book that I've made an attempt to read two or three times previously but I just couldn't do it。 I'd always stop at 5 or 6 pages。 Then, the book would just lay forgotten there。But I finally did it this time! And I honestly don't know why I wasn't able to read it earlier。I was sucked into the world right from the start。 Markus Zusak's writing style was just so different and easy to read through。 I was flying through the book。The stoy itself is so honest, raw and heart-wrenching。 Liesel This is one book that I've made an attempt to read two or three times previously but I just couldn't do it。 I'd always stop at 5 or 6 pages。 Then, the book would just lay forgotten there。But I finally did it this time! I wanted to adore this。 Such a powerful subject and beloved by so many。 Was it too dark without pockets of joy for me? The whole world seemed gray in this book。 The characters were intriguing and multi-faceted。 The ending left me feeling adrift。

Thought-provoking and moving。 Having Death be the narrator creates a level of detachment and a unique storytelling method that provides an entirely different perspective on war and humanity。 Even though the narrator is extremely detached from the characters and the main story, Zusak is still able to create a strong sense of attachment to the characters and pack quite the emotional punch, especially in those last 50 pages。

Don't think I'm eloquent enough to properly put into words how much I loved this book other than saying that this is one of my favorite books of all time。 It's devastating but so worth it, my heart honestly hurts a little and yet I feel grateful for experiencing it。 Don't think I'm eloquent enough to properly put into words how much I loved this book other than saying that this is one of my favorite books of all time。 It's devastating but so worth it, my heart honestly hurts a little and yet I feel grateful for experiencing it。 。。。more

This book had absolutely beautiful writing, I enjoyed every second of it。 What kept me captivated in this book was the narrator and his perspective on every event that happened。 The POV had an eerie feel to it, but not in a way that made Death seem like an evil villain。 Death was portrayed as a very mischievous, observant character。 The ending almost had me crying, like most of my favorite books do。 Overall this book is filled is heartache, but it is definitely worth the read。

Everyone should read this book; every adult, and every child。 And when you have finished reading “The Book Thief” find yourself a quiet place and think about the world you enter each day; in particular the people that pass in and out of your life。 Everyone should read this book。

Hard to get in to and get used to the style of writing but after that it's such a great story that after some research has some truth and similarities to real life。 Hard to get in to and get used to the style of writing but after that it's such a great story that after some research has some truth and similarities to real life。 。。。more

i've read this book back in middle-school。 our teacher was so in love with it that she chose it as the book that the teacher was supposed to choose for us to read that was not in the curriculum。 and i'm utterly grateful for it because what a book it was。i still have it on my shelf and look through it sometimes and think of Liesel, how i have always been inspired by her。 the story was captivating and i cried so much while reading but also smiled at the little things。 it used to be my favourite bo i've read this book back in middle-school。 our teacher was so in love with it that she chose it as the book that the teacher was supposed to choose for us to read that was not in the curriculum。 and i'm utterly grateful for it because what a book it was。i still have it on my shelf and look through it sometimes and think of Liesel, how i have always been inspired by her。 the story was captivating and i cried so much while reading but also smiled at the little things。 it used to be my favourite book for a long time, and while a lot has changed since then, it still remains as one of my all-time favourites to this day。 。。。more
