Summary

Nora Devi is a xeno-archaeologist with a complicated past。 She has buried more secrets than she’s dug up。 Widowed in the recently ended twelve year war between Capitoline and Palantine, she now makes a living as an independent tagger in border space。

Captain Liam Kimani could be credited with ending the latest royal war。 Instead, he’s blamed for it。 Dirty commoners aren’t meant to lay their hands on royalty。

He has no regrets。

When Liam and his crew of the battlecruiser RC Genghis Khan are exiled to Capitoline’s border they discover that life in unexplored space can be more dangerous than war, and that their best chance of survival lies with a mysterious, elusive tagger。

The only problem is that Nora’s secrets might destroy the precarious stability of the entire Human Sector。

Readable but not as light hearted as the Space Deputy series。

Great sci fi adventureI love Jonah。。。ok, the world building is great, the good guys are fantastic and often funny, and the story is a page turner。 But I still love Jonah。 The elements of romance, mystery, and made families add depth to a great story。 The worst thing about Astray is that I read it too fast。

This one was a really good storyI no longer give out 5 stars for excellent。 If this turns into a Hugo or nebula winner I will be happy to upgrade。Ms。 Schwartz is a master of romantic space opera。 Her craft has it all。 World building。 Story pacing。 Characters you can like or love。

Huh? What?Much to my surprise and dismay, it took me an incredible amount of time to get into this story。 Only because I enjoy Ms。 Schwartz 's work so much, I stayed with it until, finally, I began to get into things。 Now, I seriously enjoyed this book and will be auto buying Book Two。 Huh? There’s a lot going on and much more to comeIt’s only the opening move, but the board is already crowded。 There are personal issues, secrets and scars; the aftermath of war, dirty governments, operatives and political games; and Ms。 Schwartz’s strong suit—lead characters, Nora, Jonah and Liam, good people who try to do the right thing。 All at risk, all with things to hide, yet all with hidden strengths as well。 Ready for the next book now!

DelightfulAs good as ever。 This story, for me, has the flavor of the older science fiction or possibly I've read too many futuristic romances。 Regardless, as with other works of yours, I got it through kindle unlimited but so be buying it for my read again collection。 Very clever ending! Looking forward to the next installment。 DelightfulAs good as ever。 This story, for me, has the flavor of the older science fiction or possibly I've read too many futuristic romances。 Regardless, as with other works of yours, I got it through kindle unlimited but so be buying it for my read again collection。 Very clever ending! A little difficult in the first couple chapters but then I got hooked and really liked the story。 I am eagerly awaiting book 2 as this one ends on a bit of a cliff hanger。

Enjoyable with very good world building and characters I’ve already preordered the next book! A fun read and I can’t wait to see what happens next。 I liked the characters, even the side characters have dimension to them。 I was impressed by the world building without using an info dump。 A bit less actual archaeology than hoped for though。
