Summary

From the celebrated poet, speaker, and educator comes a powerful blueprint for healing by building a home within yourself。

In her debut book of inspiration, poet Najwa Zebian shares her revolutionary concept of home--the place of safety where you can embrace your vulnerability and discover your self-worth。 It's the place where your soul feels like it belongs, where you are loved for who you are。 Too many of us build our homes in other people in the hope that they will deem us worthy of being welcomed inside, and then we feel abandoned and empty when those people leave。 Building your home inside yourself--and never experiencing inner homelessness again--begins here。

In Welcome Home, Zebian shares her personal story for the first time, powerfully weaving memoir, poetry, and deeply resonant teachings into her storytelling, from leaving Lebanon at sixteen, to coming of age as a young Muslim woman in Canada, to building a new identity for herself as she learned to speak her truth。 After the profound alienations she experienced, she learned to build a stable foundation inside herself, an identity independent of cultural expectations and the influence of others。 The powerful metaphor of home provides a structure for personal transformation as she shows you how to construct the following rooms: Self-Love, Forgiveness, Compassion, Clarity, Surrender, and The Dream Garden。 With practical tools and prompts for self-understanding, she shows you how to build each room in your house, which form a firm basis for your self-worth, sense of belonging, and happiness。

In Welcome Home: A Guide to Building a Home for Your Soul, celebrated speaker, author, and educator Najwa Zebian gets more vulnerable than ever before。 In this self-help book, she provides a powerful blueprint for healing by building a home within yourself。 This book includes true-life instances that inspired the author, techniques, and actions that can be easily got to follow (while emotionally hard to do), and poetry。 Sections are divided by rooms in your “house” and look at Self-love, Clarity In Welcome Home: A Guide to Building a Home for Your Soul, celebrated speaker, author, and educator Najwa Zebian gets more vulnerable than ever before。 In this self-help book, she provides a powerful blueprint for healing by building a home within yourself。 This book includes true-life instances that inspired the author, techniques, and actions that can be easily got to follow (while emotionally hard to do), and poetry。 Sections are divided by rooms in your “house” and look at Self-love, Clarity, Compassion, and more。 In the end, she guides you into creating your own room-a a room that will serve only you。Each chapter breaks down a room in your soul's house starting with the Foundation。 Each area has pillars or themes and rules of what you want that room to be。 Each pillar has questions to help you sort through your own emotions。 But Zebian doesn't leave you to do it on your own: she leads by example sharing her life and how she made these rooms in her home。I was supposed to read this as a reviewer but I found that I was called to this book I needed to create my own home so I became engrossed in this book。 I was more than reviewing, I was growing。 So is there some bias in this review? Sure。 But it did honestly help me on a personal level。I think this is a great self-help book。 I'd say it's more geared towards women but I wouldn't say those of any gender range wouldn't be able to connect to the principles。 As a society, we need to start with ourselves and create our own homes。 Only then can we change as a society for the better,I received an ARC for review; all opinions are my own。 。。。more

“…every moment we live is connected to all the other moments。 Some moments we live now are connected to moments ten or twenty years from now。 And we don’t see the connection until that future moment happens。 And it’s kind of like an ah-ha moment when you say, ‘Now I understand why that moment in the past happened。’”I am a big fan of Najwa Zebian。 For those of you who do not know her, she is a Lebanese Canadian author, educator, and speaker。Years ago, a passage from one of her books, Mind Platter “…every moment we live is connected to all the other moments。 Some moments we live now are connected to moments ten or twenty years from now。 And we don’t see the connection until that future moment happens。 And it’s kind of like an ah-ha moment when you say, ‘Now I understand why that moment in the past happened。’”I am a big fan of Najwa Zebian。 For those of you who do not know her, she is a Lebanese Canadian author, educator, and speaker。Years ago, a passage from one of her books, Mind Platter, was read out loud in my yoga class。 After class, I immediately visited the local bookstore and purchased that book and The Nectar of Pain。 Now, I have Welcome Home to add to my collection。 From the back of Welcome Home: “Najwa Zebian shares her revolutionary concept of home - the place of safety where you can embrace your vulnerability and discover your self-worth。 It’s the place where your soul feels like it belongs, where you are loved for who you are。 Zebian shares her personal story for the first time, from leaving Lebanon at sixteen, to coming of age as a young Muslim woman in Canada, to building a new identity for herself as she learned to speak her truth。”I have a hard time putting into words the power that this book carries。 Najwa Zebian has taken the word “home” and has given it new meaning - one that I never thought of before, and one that I will carry forward。Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada for my gifted copy! 。。。more

I received an advance review copy from Rodale Inc。 through Netgalley; all opinions are my own and honest。DNF @ 11%This has a lovely central concept and a flexible structure that invites the reader to customize their own journey。 Personally I found the writing style more suited to a TED talk than a book — it's a bit corny, with flowery analogies; it's not bad by any means but not really my cup of tea。 I received an advance review copy from Rodale Inc。 through Netgalley; all opinions are my own and honest。DNF @ 11%This has a lovely central concept and a flexible structure that invites the reader to customize their own journey。 Personally I found the writing style more suited to a TED talk than a book — it's a bit corny, with flowery analogies; it's not bad by any means but not really my cup of tea。 。。。more

I went into this book unfamiliar with the author or the story and it surprised me。 Zebian's story is one of struggle and heartbreak and finding herself - and being stronger because of it all。 I thought this would be a memoir of sorts but instead I found it woven with very helpful practical tools for unpacking and rebuilding myself for MYSELF。 I feel like I need a side of therapy with this book just to fully grasp all that she explains and leads you through。 The prompts for journaling and meditat I went into this book unfamiliar with the author or the story and it surprised me。 Zebian's story is one of struggle and heartbreak and finding herself - and being stronger because of it all。 I thought this would be a memoir of sorts but instead I found it woven with very helpful practical tools for unpacking and rebuilding myself for MYSELF。 I feel like I need a side of therapy with this book just to fully grasp all that she explains and leads you through。 The prompts for journaling and meditation are some that I feel like I need to work into a daily practice of reminding myself of who I am so as not to let anyone else take over。I was especially smitten with her house building analogy since this is the way I have imagined my own life and growth over the last few years。 This is not a light read by any means but it is definitely worth the effort - to hear her story and to learn your own。Thank you to the publisher and author for sending the eARC via NetGalley in exhange for my honest review! 。。。more

This book found me when I needed it most。I would like to preface this that I rarely read any type of Nonfiction or Self-Help books。 They are not my preferred genre, so I typically avoid them。 But I am so glad that I picked this up and I strongly encourage anyone and everyone to do so as well。This book is about self-worth, self-love, and putting yourself first。 If you ever catch yourself basing your happiness on someone else, read this book。 If you ever catch yourself basing your happiness on the This book found me when I needed it most。I would like to preface this that I rarely read any type of Nonfiction or Self-Help books。 They are not my preferred genre, so I typically avoid them。 But I am so glad that I picked this up and I strongly encourage anyone and everyone to do so as well。This book is about self-worth, self-love, and putting yourself first。 If you ever catch yourself basing your happiness on someone else, read this book。 If you ever catch yourself basing your happiness on the opinions of others, read this book。 For countless other reasons, READ THIS BOOK!
