There is a book for everything 。 。 。

Somewhere in the vast Library of the Universe, as Natalie thought of it, there was a book that embodied exactly the things she was worrying about。

In the wake of a shocking tragedy, Natalie Harper inherits her mother’s charming but financially strapped bookshop in San Francisco。 She also becomes caretaker for her ailing grandfather Andrew, her only living relative—not counting her scoundrel father。

But the gruff, deeply kind Andrew has begun displaying signs of decline。 Natalie thinks it’s best to move him to an assisted living facility to ensure the care he needs。 To pay for it, she plans to close the bookstore and sell the derelict but valuable building on historic Perdita Street, which is in need of constant fixing。 There’s only one problem–Grandpa Andrew owns the building and refuses to sell。 Natalie adores her grandfather; she’ll do whatever it takes to make his final years happy。 Besides, she loves the store and its books provide welcome solace for her overwhelming grief。

After she moves into the small studio apartment above the shop, Natalie carries out her grandfather’s request and hires contractor Peach Gallagher to do the necessary and ongoing repairs。 His young daughter, Dorothy, also becomes a regular at the store, and she and Natalie begin reading together while Peach works。

To Natalie’s surprise, her sorrow begins to dissipate as her life becomes an unexpected journey of new connections, discoveries and revelations, from unearthing artifacts hidden in the bookshop’s walls, to discovering the truth about her family, her future, and her own heart。

There were parts I enjoyed about this book, most notably: that it's set in a bookstore in an historic building in San Francisco。 There are numerous literary references and quotes, and some historical background in terms of the earthquake and families coming from Ireland to find new lives in America。 I really enjoyed Andrew, the grandfather character with a strong moral backbone, a heart of gold, and a worsening case of dementia。 The main character was moderately likeable, and, of course, Peach t There were parts I enjoyed about this book, most notably: that it's set in a bookstore in an historic building in San Francisco。 There are numerous literary references and quotes, and some historical background in terms of the earthquake and families coming from Ireland to find new lives in America。 I really enjoyed Andrew, the grandfather character with a strong moral backbone, a heart of gold, and a worsening case of dementia。 The main character was moderately likeable, and, of course, Peach the handyman was very likeable。 I'm not much of a romance reader, and there was too much romance in this novel for my taste, most of it cliche。 There were also characters and story tangents that never went anywhere。 But all in all, except for a few romance scenes I could have lived without, I enjoyed this book because the characters were well-read bibliophiles。 。。。more

Heartwarming。 Loved it!

Toni

A light romance set in the hills of San Francisco with side stories of it history。 Natalie experiences a tragedy that brings her back to her roots which brings up the past in a big way。 It all leads to a much better future。

On the day Natalie Harper received a promotion at her job she is needed at her mother’s bookshop to help care for Grampy。 Peaches arrives to make repairs at the bookshop, his young daughter is a regular customer at the shop。 The shop is in trouble financially, Natalie has to find a way of generating revenue。

Enjoyed this。 Likeable characters, somewhat predictable。

I was a little disappointed in this book。 I liked the setting a lot (a bookshop in SF)。 But the story was very predictable。 And it annoyed me that the main character kept chiding herself for her poor judgement on her relationship with Rick, as if he was a bad person; she just wasn’t in love with him。 That’s not poor judgement。

Krystle Thomas

Really cute story

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Very slow-moving。 There wasn’t any build up of love interest between Natalie and Peach until the last chapter。 The end of the book was hard to tell the timeline; did a year pass or was it just coming up on their first Christmas? How could Peach blame Natalie for not approaching him? It takes 2 in a relationship。

Luisa

Traditional story and characters splattered with woke as required these days, I guess。

Although it took a few chapters for me to really be invested, the story finally took hold and I really enjoyed it。 I did not know it was #3 in a book series。 It can be read as a stand alone。

Five things about The Lost and Found Bookshop by Susan Wiggs 3/5⭐️s1。 This was a very quick read。 2。 My first Susan Wiggs even though it’s the third book in a series and I’ve seen her name everywhere。 3。 It stood on its own, didn’t matter that I started with the third book。 4。 It was fine and created an enjoyable distraction for several hours this weekend but I’m not interested in reading any other books by Wiggs。 5。 Just a little too melodramatic for my preferences but I totally get why so many Five things about The Lost and Found Bookshop by Susan Wiggs 3/5⭐️s1。 This was a very quick read。 2。 My first Susan Wiggs even though it’s the third book in a series and I’ve seen her name everywhere。 3。 It stood on its own, didn’t matter that I started with the third book。 4。 It was fine and created an enjoyable distraction for several hours this weekend but I’m not interested in reading any other books by Wiggs。 5。 Just a little too melodramatic for my preferences but I totally get why so many readers love Wiggs。 。。。more

I picked this book up at Costco and was pleasantly surprised。 A nice break from heavier reading。

Repetid conmigo: el hecho que el título incluya la palabra librería no significa nada, es un atrapamoscas。。。 Se intuye desde el principio, previsible, convencional y edulcorado hasta el colapso diabético。

3。5 Gratuitous onetime mention of adults smoking ‘weed。’ Pet peeve: Cliche “at the end of the day” used four times。 I enjoyed the history of the bookshop and the relationships between characters, especially the young girl and the grandfather。 Light read。 First time reading this author and I don’t know whether to try another book。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Enjoyed the historical fiction/family history part of this narrative。 The ending wrapped up nicely in terms of everything working out but the writing/dialogue felt like a departure from previous characterizations the last 20+ pages。 Several things seemed to come “out of nowhere” (like Natalie and Peach smoking weed after sex- what? Nothing like that was ever referenced before) and it felt like the book was rushed to end。

Sosi

Sweet and predictable as a hallmark movie。

Robin

Interesting look at how life choices influence us。 Story revolves around a small book shop in San Francisco and the family that owns it。 I loved the characters and the plot twists。 Good listening while knitting。

As a book store lover, words can't begin to describe how much I enjoyed listening to this audiobook。 The story begins with an unimaginable tragedy as Natalie Harper loses her mother and boyfriend in an accident。 She quits her job and attempts to run her family bookstore, "The Lost and Bookshop" while caring for her elderly grandfather。 Repairs on the aged building unearth hidden treasures and family history。 All the characters were enchanting and the flashbacks to their own stories just added to As a book store lover, words can't begin to describe how much I enjoyed listening to this audiobook。 The story begins with an unimaginable tragedy as Natalie Harper loses her mother and boyfriend in an accident。 She quits her job and attempts to run her family bookstore, "The Lost and Bookshop" while caring for her elderly grandfather。 Repairs on the aged building unearth hidden treasures and family history。 All the characters were enchanting and the flashbacks to their own stories just added to charm of this book。 。。。more

Disappointed with the end。 Expected more however, I did enjoy the story over all。 Light read。

2。5 maybe。 DNF。 Yet another book I just couldn’t finish。 This really should be classified as YA。。definitely chick-lit。 So redundant。 And why are all the lead women cute and smart, but so obtuse?? I wanted to know more about the lost and found part of the bookstore。。。but, of course, everything they found they had to return to the “rightful owners。” If she were so business savvy, why not a “finder’s fee”? I just didn’t care which of the handsome men she chose。。。or really, anything about her。

A perfect readI love books。 I love libraries。 I love the smell of books。 I love a good story。 I love learning about new books, as well asseeing random books I’ve read mentioned in something I’m reading。 This book has it all。 What a wonderful book。

Rosi

Imaginative plot; wonderful characters。 Interesting info about San Francisco earthquake。

Predictable pandering and I loved it。 Love me some gratuitous descriptions of books。 If you want to feel good for a little while without having to worry about much, and you like books, you’ll love this。 Super cute and not challenging。 Sometimes that’s what you need。

Really more of a 2。5 star book。 The writing was often awkward, the dialogue stilted and sometimes the characters behaved or spoke in ways that seemed unauthentic。 Towards the end of the book, clumsy writing prevailed。 A little bit of the romance kept me interested but overall I wouldn’t recommend this book。

Danae Morgan

Easy to read, nice story

Patience

Loved all the characters in this book。 Even the ones you only see a few times。 I removed one star because it was a little predictable。

Roni

Interesting from a historical perspective。 Engaging but a light read。 Careful to not get too graphic/sort of younger YA。 Some character development but not as much as I would have liked。 Good creation of setting。
