Summary

Waiting in line to use the bathroom in a fancy New York City sex club is just like waiting to use the bathroom anywhere else。 Well, anywhere else that people walk around half-naked。 And anywhere else that you must send in a headshot and a full-body photo before being added to the invite list。 Besides those things, it’s like waiting in line for the bathroom anywhere else。

Married for ten years and with three children, Ashleigh and her husband, Manny, are at a sex club, not because they feel there is anything wrong with their marriage, rather they are looking for some relief from the non-stop work and no-nonsense routine they have maintained since meeting right out of college。 Their marriage is rock solid。 They are masterful tag-team parents and never fight。 Their toddlers grow their own vegetables and use coasters。 They are hard-core adulting, but everyone deserves a little break sometimes, don’t they?

From sex clubs to invite-only parties to dating apps for couples, they rapidly realize they’ve made a slight miscalculation, underestimating the complexities of the lifestyle and overestimating the strength of their marriage。 Heartbreaking, hilarious, and hopeful, what will they do when they realize it’s more than a matter of gathering some people and having some sex?

A friend passed this on to me to read because she was curious to know what I thought。 I thought it was well written and Ashleigh is obviously a talented writer。 The tales of her visits to the sex clubs was very enlightening! I could cope with the flashback stories (but would have liked them to be shorter) and I did skim read some of her deeper moments。 I was also getting fed up with reading the line her husband said - something like I have told you I love you so now you know。 We got it, you didn A friend passed this on to me to read because she was curious to know what I thought。 I thought it was well written and Ashleigh is obviously a talented writer。 The tales of her visits to the sex clubs was very enlightening! Maybe because I skim read I didn't truly understand what her issue was with her husband (apart from the flirtation with a work colleague)。 Maybe Ashleigh is just too needy for me but I struggled to sympathize with her and her need to control。 Not sure her story was unique enough for me to read about but I did enjoy aspects of it and as I mentioned the writing was good。 。。。more

I love the sense of humor and honesty the author brings to her exploration of alternative ways to renew the sexual fire in a relationship。 Along the way, there are interesting people to meet, eye-opening experiences to be had, and many lessons to be learned。 She shares all of this with us in such a candid way that you can't help but find yourself laughing, cringing, and hoping they find what they're looking for。 This is such an interesting memoir about a subject that a lot of people shy away fro I love the sense of humor and honesty the author brings to her exploration of alternative ways to renew the sexual fire in a relationship。 Along the way, there are interesting people to meet, eye-opening experiences to be had, and many lessons to be learned。 She shares all of this with us in such a candid way that you can't help but find yourself laughing, cringing, and hoping they find what they're looking for。 This is such an interesting memoir about a subject that a lot of people shy away from and she handles it with a spirit of adventure, wit, and love。 I received a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

The author opens up about her marriage and the reasons her and her husband chose the "swing" life style。 Curiosity (and a favorite author's recommendation) led me to read this memoir which is not normally something I would read。 I have to admit enjoying the description of the sex clubs since it is something I never would've entertained doing myself。 But the bulk of the book leans more toward her self discovery and not something I could relate to as a woman in her 60's。 I would say the audience f The author opens up about her marriage and the reasons her and her husband chose the "swing" life style。 Curiosity (and a favorite author's recommendation) led me to read this memoir which is not normally something I would read。 I have to admit enjoying the description of the sex clubs since it is something I never would've entertained doing myself。 But the bulk of the book leans more toward her self discovery and not something I could relate to as a woman in her 60's。 I would say the audience for Swing is young wives/mothers trying to do it all while also trying to keep married life fresh and sexy。 。。。more

This memoir is unlike any I’ve read before。 Ashleigh’s honesty around intimacy including both sexual and emotional connection was refreshing。 She is definitely opening up a conversation that doesn’t happen in real life as frequently as it should。 Having grown up in a very conservative home and continuing to be in some conservative circles, this pushed me out of my comfort zone in a good way。 Anyone who has been married for any amount of time, it being honest, will resonate with the themes that A This memoir is unlike any I’ve read before。 Ashleigh’s honesty around intimacy including both sexual and emotional connection was refreshing。 She is definitely opening up a conversation that doesn’t happen in real life as frequently as it should。 Having grown up in a very conservative home and continuing to be in some conservative circles, this pushed me out of my comfort zone in a good way。 Anyone who has been married for any amount of time, it being honest, will resonate with the themes that Ashleigh ask about here, even if the details of how it plays out in your own life are different。The martyrdom of motherhood, the expectations of womanhood, the difficulties of marriage - I found myself seeing my own struggles and learnings in this book, albeit maybe not from having attending sex clubs but just from having lived life as a married woman for 18 years juggling motherhood, career aspirations and intimacy issues。 What I loved most about this book is her vulnerability and lack of preachy tone。 This is an invitation to do the work in your own life, to take Ashleigh’s principles but even more, her desire to change what was in her control。 Entertaining, steamy and lots of heart in this one。 。。。more

The best thing about this book? It feels like chatting with a dear friend。 The kind of chat you have in the evening, a glass of wine in your hand, when your friend finally lets her guard down and tells you about why she's become the way she is。 You get the dirt, the joys, the excitement。 You laugh, you gasp, you commiserate, you laugh again。。。 Ashleigh Renard is a kind, quirky, and generous soul, and her fabulous personality shines through this fun, light, and highly entertaining book。 The best thing about this book? First, thank you so very much to Ashleigh and Kate Rock for having me on this tour!!Second, Ashleigh you truly wrote a winner with Swing。 I admittedly judged the book and thought I’d be reading just about a couple going to sex clubs BUT, I was completely wrong。 This book was about so much more and I am here for it。We as women go through so many emotions in life, for us things aren’t just black and white, like men。 Men can compartmentalize their emotions and make simple sense of them。 As women, w First, thank you so very much to Ashleigh and Kate Rock for having me on this tour!!Second, Ashleigh you truly wrote a winner with Swing。 I admittedly judged the book and thought I’d be reading just about a couple going to sex clubs BUT, I was completely wrong。 This book was about so much more and I am here for it。We as women go through so many emotions in life, for us things aren’t just black and white, like men。 Men can compartmentalize their emotions and make simple sense of them。 As women, we question and worry about everything; why didn’t he kiss me goodnight, why didn’t he tell me he loves me, etc。 I feel like this book was a journey for Ashleigh, of really listening to her thoughts and figuring out exactly what it was that was bothering her, of course her therapist Jacki proved immeasurable in this。 A journey of maturing and really getting down to what makes her tick and how she can make herself feel better without the help of others。 Giving herself permission to change her mind as often as she wants。 As a wife and mom, this is something I struggle with myself。 Being ok with changing plans or making a decision that my husband may not care for is something I think about daily。Thank you Ashleigh, you hit on so many things that are important。 I thoroughly enjoyed it and I love your sense of humor, especially your Instagram。 How to get the kids to clean is perfect! I got my son to start emptying the trash cans this week (at 7 years old) and I’m proud!I highly recommend this read Ladies。。and even gents, I think y’all could understand where we are as females in this read。 Go order it NOW!! Swing is full of humor, erotic emotions, laughs out loud, and Ashleigh partakes in becoming an adult。 The sexy parts were masterfully written & advanced the narrative rather than simply steaming up the room。 I found it fascinating how Ashleigh thought about partaking, or shall I say, took part in the swinger's lifestyle。 It makes the memoir that much more profound。 I loved hearing about the people at the s*x club--their various ages and physiques--, and it was cool to listen to what one is like, Swing is full of humor, erotic emotions, laughs out loud, and Ashleigh partakes in becoming an adult。 The sexy parts were masterfully written & advanced the narrative rather than simply steaming up the room。 I found it fascinating how Ashleigh thought about partaking, or shall I say, took part in the swinger's lifestyle。 It makes the memoir that much more profound。 I loved hearing about the people at the s*x club--their various ages and physiques--, and it was cool to listen to what one is like, too, for that matter。 Swing is a book with a wild side, for sure, but if you're someone who has or has had s*x and likes it, then you won't be shocked by what you read。 Swing is the most definitely and explicit nurture read。 I love the fact Ashleigh was comfortable writing about enjoying sex clubs and wanting to partake /partaking in a swinger lifestyle。 It took me deeper into her life。 This one, for me, was one of the hottest, steamiest, sexiest self-help memoir books I ever read。 I most definitely might check out a sex club/swingers club one of these days, Wink。 Ashleigh most definitely delivered the boldest memoir you would ever read。 What may rock the next person's boat may not rock your boat, and that is ok。 With that being said, grab you a copy of Swing, let Ashleigh take you on a ride。 Oh yeah, you might want to grab yourself a glass of wine, a margarita, or whatever adult beverage you prefer, put the kids to bed and unwind。 。。。more

(What lifestyle? Hint: it's in the title!)Ashleigh talks about her demons and expectations around being a wife and mother, and balancing the working mom life。 Just reading about her busy life had me exhausted! 😆 She dives into her exploration of spirituality, examines her need for perfection, talks about the tension with her husband's family, and questions her marriage and other life choices in a way that is honest and raw。 I loved the comparison of what Ashleigh was teaching her skating girls (she was a synchronized skating coach) and what she was telling herself。 Her transformation to a woman who lifts up other women AND herself was beautiful to read。 I really resonated with the chapters of learning how to love yourself。At the center of this memoir are the acknowledgements that it's ok to question, to make choices that aren't mainstream, to change your mind, to break up or mend relationships, and to stand up for yourself - to your partner, to your family and even to yourself。 I'm sharing a few quotes I loved from the book in the comments。Grab yourself and a girlfriend a copy!
