Bonus for the main character being a hedge hog。A sad and lonely hedgehog sails away looking for the friend ship。 Many of the people she asks about the friend ship ask if they can come with her and look, too。 Over time, she ends up with a full ship of friends。 It takes an elephant to point it all out to her, though。

Sometimes when we go out looking for something, we find that the thing we were searching for is right there in front of us。 :) This was a darling book。 Everything from the backpacking deer to the elephant on the lonely island was adorable。 There is really only one thing you can say after reading a book like this。 “Awwww。” 😊 Sometimes when we go out looking for something, we find that the thing we were searching for is right there in front of us。 :) This was a darling book。 Everything from the backpacking deer to the elephant on the lonely island was adorable。 There is really only one thing you can say after reading a book like this。 “Awwww。” 😊 。。。more

I loved everything about this funny and heartfelt book as a lonely hedgehog sets out to find THE FRIEND SHIP。 It is filled with quirky humor, a lyrical rhythmic rhyme, and adorable characters。 You will giggle and swoon in equal parts and fully enjoy this book。 A must share read aloud for classrooms and bedtimes alike。

Super cute and with just enough of a repetitive pun that my students felt pretty clever about catching on to it。 They also liked feeling like they figured out that they were all enjoying friendship before the animals realized it。 Sometimes we need the reminder that the best things in life are sometimes right in front of us。

This story is a sweet ode to the joys — expected and unexpected — of friendship。Groenink’s charming illustrations convey a great deal of emotion and his animals radiate warmth。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I did love this book, I would use it to teach inclusion to my class。 hedgehog included all of her friends that asked to join without any hesitation。 Including your peers, especially when young is a valuable things for them to learn。 This leaves less kids lonely and feeling like they just don't fit in。 I did love this book, I would use it to teach inclusion to my class。 hedgehog included all of her friends that asked to join without any hesitation。 Including your peers, especially when young is a valuable things for them to learn。 This leaves less kids lonely and feeling like they just don't fit in。 。。。more

Various animals board a ship to look for friends。 And。。。 you can probably guess the ending。 Yet, the story, the animals, the pictures all make you giggle and wish to join them on the ship。

I liked the message that this book is giving about trying to find friends for yourself。 I'm not sure if older kids will get frustrated with the hedgehog not understanding that he has actually created a "friend ship" for himself but it will be interesting to try it as a read-aloud to find out。 I liked the message that this book is giving about trying to find friends for yourself。 I'm not sure if older kids will get frustrated with the hedgehog not understanding that he has actually created a "friend ship" for himself but it will be interesting to try it as a read-aloud to find out。 。。。more

This story follows Hedgehog on her quest to find the Friend Ship。 She sails all around the world looking for the ship, picking up companions as she goes, and finds at the end that the Friend Ship was in all the friends she made along the way。 I would place this book in a kindergarten through second grade classroom。 This book is excellent for teaching visual elements of storytelling, as the tree in the bow of the Friend Ship grows as Hedgehog finds more friends。 I would also use this to talk abou This story follows Hedgehog on her quest to find the Friend Ship。 She sails all around the world looking for the ship, picking up companions as she goes, and finds at the end that the Friend Ship was in all the friends she made along the way。 I would place this book in a kindergarten through second grade classroom。 This book is excellent for teaching visual elements of storytelling, as the tree in the bow of the Friend Ship grows as Hedgehog finds more friends。 I would also use this to talk about wordplay and the many ways language can be interpreted by people。 。。。more

Hedghog gets an idea to go off and look for friendship in a boat。 He manages to gather many other animal along his seafairing journey。 He finds true friendhip in the book The Friend Ship, by Kat Yeh。 For ages 4 - 8。 While the illustrations are muted with a yellow hue there is a feeling of constant light in each one。 The enthusiasm of the travelling companions for the long journey keep the mood light and hopeful。
