Summary

From the USA Today and Wall St。 Journal bestselling author of Nantucket Neighbors and Nantucket White Christmas。

Three sisters。 An inherited Nantucket restaurant。 One year before they can sell。

Mandy, Emma and Jill are as close as three sisters who live hundreds of miles apart can be。 They grew up together on Nantucket, but Mandy is the only one that stayed。

Jill lives a glamorous life in Manhattan as a co-owner of a successful executive search firm。 Never married, she is in her mid-thirties and lives in a stunning, corner condo with breathtaking views of the city and Hudson river。 Everyone thinks there's something going on with her partner, Nick, because as a workaholic, she spends more time with him than anyone else。 But there's never been anything but friendship between them and Nick loves being a bachelor in NYC。

Emma lives in Arizona and is an elementary school teacher and aspiring photographer。 She met her college professor husband, Peter, in grad school and they've been married for over fifteen years。 In recent years, she's noticed that Peter has grown distant。 But when he shares a surprising secret, she doesn't see it coming and her world is turned upside down。

Mandy followed her high school boyfriend, Cory to Boston College, and after graduation, they married and Cory joined a successful hedge fund in Boston, while Mandy stayed home and had two children, Blake and Brooke。 They moved home to Nantucket when Cory opened a competing hedge fund。 Now that the children are older, Mandy is eager to do more than coordinate local charity events。 But Cory doesn't want her to work。 He thinks it doesn't reflect well on him and appearances are everything to Cory。 Though when Mandy finds a second cell phone in his gym bag, she begins to question what is really going on。

When their beloved grandmother, Ethel Ferguson passes peacefully in her sleep a week before her ninety-ninth birthday, she leaves them quite a surprise。 In addition to her Nantucket home, they learn that she was the silent owner of Mimi's Place, one of Nantucket's most popular year-round restaurants。

There is of course, a catch--she left the restaurant equally to Mandy, Emma, and Jill--and also to Paul, the restaurant chef for the past fifteen years。

And before they can sell, all three girls must work at the restaurant for one year--or their shares of the restaurant will go to Paul。

The same Paul that broke one of their hearts many years ago。

My mom will love this book about three sisters drawn back to their hometown of Nantucket after their grandmother bequeaths them a restaurant with the caveat that they must work their for one year before disposing of it or keeping it。 The novel focuses on their relationships with one another and their romantic interests with a good deal of food and beverage descriptions that will make you hungry。 It was nice, simple story。 Good beach read or exercise listen。

Karen

It was a nice story but nothing that left me wanting to read her other work。

Cheyna Chaneille

Fast paced。 Not much plot or character development; Predictable storyline。 Great book to get someone back into reading again or to start reading。

I really wanted to like this。 It’s my kind of story, genre, etc but it fell flat。 Maybe there weren’t enough details? (Except for food and restaurant descriptions which were great!) I didn’t feel what the characters felt。 The dialogue was good but it read more like a screenplay and less like a novel。

Lynn Carrigan

I enjoyed the story。 Dealing with adult subjects divorce, adultery。

Yikes。。not sure which is worse, the writing or the fact that so many people actually highly rated this 。

It was great to return to Nantucket from a little different view than The Nantucket Inn at Plum Cove。 I loved that whole series and am waiting for the next in it, but it was interesting to see the Island from a different place。 I thought that was a great idea by author, Pamela Kelley! It is a quick read with realistic characters with their own issues, good and bad, happy and sad。 Nothing too deep and depressing like so many books and just what I needed to mix it up!! The Restaurant is a chick beach read set in Nantucket。 When their grandmother dies, she leaves her three granddaughters equal shares in the restaurant that she had won years before in a bet and had been the silent owner ever since。 Only her lawyer knew about it。 There was one stipulation, though。 The girls had to actively manage the restaurant for a year before they could sell it。 If they didn’t their shares would revert to Paul, the manager who was bequeathed the fourth share。 One sister had ne The Restaurant is a chick beach read set in Nantucket。 When their grandmother dies, she leaves her three granddaughters equal shares in the restaurant that she had won years before in a bet and had been the silent owner ever since。 Only her lawyer knew about it。 There was one stipulation, though。 The girls had to actively manage the restaurant for a year before they could sell it。 If they didn’t their shares would revert to Paul, the manager who was bequeathed the fourth share。 One sister had never married but had a high powered firm in NYC。 One was married with children and lived on Nantucket, and the third lived out west, but just had been informed that her husband was leaving her for his old male college roommate。 。。。more

Just ok。 A short (5hr) audiobook I downloaded to listen to while waiting in the car。 A little too descriptive of unimportant things, the food especially, and not enough in depth of the sisters to keep them and their guys straight。 Could have been twice as long, more fully fleshed out and it would be a good book。

I finished this book in a matter of hours not because it was a page turner, but because the majority of the book was filled with fluff and mundane details that don’t contribute to the story。 The characters were underdeveloped and prompted no connection with the reader and the story was completely predictable from the start。 The only reason I finished it was I assumed it could not truly be that obvious; there had to be a twist。 Alas, I was wrong。 Meh。

A short easy read that is fairly predictable。 I expected a book about the binds of sisterhood but felt the book was mostly about each woman’s life separately from the others。

This was a nice story about 3 sisters whose grandmother passed away。 She left them a restaurant that they did not know she owned。 They cannot sell it until they have worked in the restaurant for one year otherwise it goes to the chef。 Two sisters are getting a divorce so working in the restaurant helps them to keep busy。 It is a nice story to read after reading a heavy duty novel。

Katie

EnjoyableAn easy, relaxing read with pleasant characters and delicious foodie tidbits scattered here and there。 I willOk for future books in the series 。

Josie

Decent second place to Elin Hilderbrand books。

Mary Lynn

Three sisters whose romantic situations are undergoing a shake up must spend a year working at a restaurant they have inherited from their grandmother。 Nothing surprising or offensive happens。 My predictions were too bold in that regard。 I had difficulty distinguishing between the two sisters whose names begin with the letter M。 The audiobook was pleasantly read, and there were some descriptions of delicious, rich food。

This book was more like 2。5 stars, I am rounding up to be nice。 The story was very predictable and bland。 It also felt as the author was a complete novice and just took a writing 101 class and this was the result。 It didn't feel like she really knew the geographic areas she was talking about and instead just did a google search。 This book was more like 2。5 stars, I am rounding up to be nice。 The story was very predictable and bland。 It also felt as the author was a complete novice and just took a writing 101 class and this was the result。 It didn't feel like she really knew the geographic areas she was talking about and instead just did a google search。 。。。more
