This was a mixed bag for me。 I loved the elements of seasonality and living life in connection with the seasons which is why I bought it。 I found the genre of the book odd though。 The “self-help” sections were oddly pitched and jarring with the rest of the book。 I wanted to love it much more than I did。

So much potential for Lydia as an author。 I think the genre needs clarifying further。 Is this a self help book? A seasonal living book? Either would be great but a mix of the two didn’t work for me。 But as a first time author, great potential。

I was hoping for more depth and insight on seasonal living, and sadly this book felt very surface level and missed the mark for me。

3。5 stars。 Having dipped in and out of Lydia's vlogs over the years when reading the book I could 'hear' Lydia's voice and saw her personality and quirks coming through that is where the 3。5 stars come from。 There were a fair few contradictory statements in the book and honestly the tips were nothing new having read and listened to different 'self help' 'healing journey ' books and podcasts over the years。 I didn't feel like I got to know anything new about Lydia herself and all the things we ar 3。5 stars。 Having dipped in and out of Lydia's vlogs over the years when reading the book I could 'hear' Lydia's voice and saw her personality and quirks coming through that is where the 3。5 stars come from。 There were a fair few contradictory statements in the book and honestly the tips were nothing new having read and listened to different 'self help' 'healing journey ' books and podcasts over the years。 I didn't feel like I got to know anything new about Lydia herself and all the things we are told to try and apply to our own lives I'm sure everyone already does。 I did enjoy the illustrations and recipes though and feel that a lot of the negativity surrounding the book is purely aimed at the author as aposed to the content。 。。。more

Listened to the audio book, the book gave me a fussy warm feeling and had a lovely flow to it。 100% will be purchasing the hard copy to read again and again

** Audiobook ** Recommend by my wife。 Always enjoyed catching the odd vlog。 Lovely book to listen to。 Tranquil。 Essentially replaced listening to Enya。 Actually upset that it’s over。 Would recommend。 Take what works for you and appreciate Lydia’s style would naturally come across in the book。 Thanks for the read。

3。5 Was really calming to listen to as an audiobook

I’m really struggling to see the point of this book。 Is it some kind of joke? The content is not original, it isn’t backed by any depth of experience - I really feel like I’m reading a diary I might have written 20 years ago but would be way to embarrassed that anyone else read。 Why hasn’t an editor helped this poor girl? The author doesn’t seem to be sure herself - the whole text is littered with her constant irritating little explanations/smirks/whatever’s which spoil the flow constantly (for I’m really struggling to see the point of this book。 Is it some kind of joke? This book gives the impression of offering ways to embrace the changing of the seasons, which is why I chose to listen to this audio book during the short and cold days of winter。 The title should be "Evergreen: My Journey of Discovering the Joy in Every Season"。 If it weren't for my need to finish things, I would have ended this book after the first chapter。 It's more of a memoir or journal of thoughts。 It's repetitive and at times, annoyingly privileged。 This book gives the impression of offering ways to embrace the changing of the seasons, which is why I chose to listen to this audio book during the short and cold days of winter。 The title should be "Evergreen: My Journey of Discovering the Joy in Every Season"。 If it weren't for my need to finish things, I would have ended this book after the first chapter。 It's more of a memoir or journal of thoughts。 It's repetitive and at times, annoyingly privileged。 。。。more

This was an easy read that is beautifully written - a perfect read for the strange lull between Christmas and New Years。 I was under the impression ‘Evergreen’ would be a self-help book, but it wasn’t that。 There was a lot of repetition and predictability within the book, but it was an enjoyable read nonetheless。 If you’re looking to help yourself with your health, this isn’t the book for you。 But if you’re looking to be inspired by the outside world, then I’d recommend - Lydia is wonderfully in This was an easy read that is beautifully written - a perfect read for the strange lull between Christmas and New Years。 I was under the impression ‘Evergreen’ would be a self-help book, but it wasn’t that。 There was a lot of repetition and predictability within the book, but it was an enjoyable read nonetheless。 If you’re looking to help yourself with your health, this isn’t the book for you。 But if you’re looking to be inspired by the outside world, then I’d recommend - Lydia is wonderfully insightful in this area。 。。。more

I have followed Lydia for years so it is difficult for me to separate my thoughts from watching her videos to the actual content of this book。 I feel as if my review is tainted by her public life on social media。 But with that being said, I had the audio version and it was pleasant to listen to。 Lydia has a calming reading voice and I thought she did a wonderful job reading the book。 As far as the content goes, there is nothing earth shattering in the book but the information wasn't bad。 If you I have followed Lydia for years so it is difficult for me to separate my thoughts from watching her videos to the actual content of this book。 I feel as if my review is tainted by her public life on social media。 But with that being said, I had the audio version and it was pleasant to listen to。 Lydia has a calming reading voice and I thought she did a wonderful job reading the book。 As far as the content goes, there is nothing earth shattering in the book but the information wasn't bad。 If you are wanting a self-help book that provides information to help you get your life in order, try Atomic Habits and The 12 Week Year。 Those books are way more helpful。 I do wish Lydia would have delved more into the mental health issues she was going through。 She described her symptoms but never gave a diagnosis。 Regardless I think she should definitely celebrate coming out of the mental health crisis she was going through。 My biggest complaint was the fact, in my opinion she used the wrong word in part of this book when she was talking about "jealousy"。 I think she meant "envy" based on what she was describing in the book。 It probably should have been caught in the editing process。 This part goes back to me not being able to separate her public social media life with the content of this book。 I felt it was slightly hypocritical of her to even be talking about "jealousy" or "envy" or "comparison" due to the fact she herself publicly shows hundreds of thousands of dollars of stuff she consumes every year。 Due to the nature of her job, she is putting herself on display for other women to compare themselves to her。 Yes comparison is bad, but it is much easier said than done to stop oneself from doing it。 Lydia won the genetic lottery and she is extremely blessed with wealth that most will never achieve。 Again the nature of her job flaunts this publicly。 "Jealousy" or whatever word fits probably should have been either left out or addressed in a different way in the book。 I'm just going to chalk it up as lack of self awareness。 Also she missed a huge opportunity in failing to address the topic of "forgiveness"。 If she did mention it in the book, I didn't hear it。 Forgiveness is powerful。 Almost as powerful as gratitude。 Overall not a bad book。 I don't regret the time I spent listening to it。 And congrats to Lydia for being a published author。 。。。more

I really enjoyed this book。 If nothing else, it is a window into the mindset of a very successful woman, which is always interesting。 However, I found this book to be more than that。 I wasn't expecting to find a "new Dickens" style-wise, and I didn't。 However, I think it is not badly written。 It develops like a talk, a nice chat。 It's a book of connection。 That's not an easy thing to achieve。I personally see on myself the effect that the connection with the natural seasons has。 It's overwhelming I really enjoyed this book。 If nothing else, it is a window into the mindset of a very successful woman, which is always interesting。 However, I found this book to be more than that。 I wasn't expecting to find a "new Dickens" style-wise, and I didn't。 However, I think it is not badly written。 It develops like a talk, a nice chat。 It's a book of connection。 That's not an easy thing to achieve。I personally see on myself the effect that the connection with the natural seasons has。 It's overwhelming, if properly enjoyed。 Hence, I was particularly intrigued by the idea of this book。 It was nice to see how Lydia Millen-Gordon takes inspiration from the season to practically apply teachings into her mindset, and I believe it can serve people to experiment that approach。I find this book to be a nice and interesting "conversation" with a woman who was able to realign herself with her natural rythm。 。。。more

3。5 - This book was like marmite。 There are parts that really resonated & that I will return to。 It also sparked food for thought on things to adjust in my life HOWEVER I found it a bit repetitive & it felt disordered (which is odd considering it went seasonally) Also at times Lydia came across as patronising & naturally unrelatable for anybody below a certain income threshold! I don't think I have ever like and disliked a book in equal measure so hats off to Ms Millen for achieving the impossib 3。5 - This book was like marmite。 There are parts that really resonated & that I will return to。 It also sparked food for thought on things to adjust in my life HOWEVER I found it a bit repetitive & it felt disordered (which is odd considering it went seasonally) Also at times Lydia came across as patronising & naturally unrelatable for anybody below a certain income threshold! I am a fan of Lydia and her very beautiful life style。 With her way of loving nature and her love for each and every season, this book really has inspired and motivated me to continue loving long walks each and every season。 However, I did feel like her book was very repetitive towards the end。

Molly

I enjoyed this。 I found it slightly repetitive however。 Maybe I would have enjoyed it more reading each season desperately at the corresponding time of year。 Nevertheless, a nice way to start the year。

Tash Peddell

A very lyrical book which explores each season in lovely detail and offers ideas on how to embrace each element too。 However, this was counteracted by too many personal anecdotes of the author which in my opinion were unrelated to the overarching narrative。 Nevertheless, it was a lovely read on the whole, and one I would recommend as a nice book to ease you into a new year, slowly。

Bethany Amicone

This book offers a refreshing outlook on approaching the new year by embracing seasonal changes and discovering novel ways to pause, appreciate beauty, and achieve life balance。

I didn’t have any preconceived expectations of this book having only found the author (and her YouTube vlogs) recently。 I found this book simply captivating, different, insightful, creative and inspiring。 It is an easy yet different way of portraying a biographical account of the authors self-development journey that has been inspired by nature。 There’s something about this book that speaks to our humanistic relation with nature and the self。 I’ve listened to this now several times, and have bee I didn’t have any preconceived expectations of this book having only found the author (and her YouTube vlogs) recently。 I found this book simply captivating, different, insightful, creative and inspiring。 It is an easy yet different way of portraying a biographical account of the authors self-development journey that has been inspired by nature。 There’s something about this book that speaks to our humanistic relation with nature and the self。 I’ve listened to this now several times, and have been inspired to think about my own relationship with nature! What a lovely book! The book explains how Lydia tries to seek the best in each season and how she works around that every day。I’ve been following Lydia for many years, and never have I ever not agreed with her content。 I got good tips from her, wether it is something about gardening or fashion。This is a must read if you like an easy-read。It’s wholesome and you can learn something new to implement into your daily life。If you’re on the hunt for a fun read, this is really the right one for you!

I enjoyed listening to Lydia talk about her journey through the seasons。 Check out my blog for my complete review。Just an FYI, my reading goal has counted this as a book I read twice。 I did not。 Only read it once。

I loved the whole lay out of the book, its was beautifully written。 I loved some of the recipes especially the boozy hot chocolate and the cocktails 🤪 However I couldn't put my finger on why I struggled to finish it, I nearly DNF it。 If I could give it 4 stars I would but it didn't have the voom it needed。 I loved the whole lay out of the book, its was beautifully written。 I loved some of the recipes especially the boozy hot chocolate and the cocktails 🤪 However I couldn't put my finger on why I struggled to finish it, I nearly DNF it。 If I could give it 4 stars I would but it didn't have the voom it needed。 。。。more

Having followed Lydia Millen for years, I decided to give her new book Evergreen a shot after spotting it on her Instagram。 With Lydia's soothing voice, I breezed through it on Audible in a few days。 Evergreen delves into Lydia's childhood, self-care, relationships, and fun topics like holiday decorating and recipes。 While I picked up quite a bit from it, I couldn't shake off the feeling of questioning Lydia's authenticity, perhaps influenced by the rumored controversy I'm not well-versed in。 Re Having followed Lydia Millen for years, I decided to give her new book Evergreen a shot after spotting it on her Instagram。 With Lydia's soothing voice, I breezed through it on Audible in a few days。 Evergreen delves into Lydia's childhood, self-care, relationships, and fun topics like holiday decorating and recipes。 While I picked up quite a bit from it, I couldn't shake off the feeling of questioning Lydia's authenticity, perhaps influenced by the rumored controversy I'm not well-versed in。 Regardless, it's a nice read for fans, though it might not resonate as much with those unfamiliar with Lydia。 。。。more
