What is wrong with people? I almost didn’t read this amazing book because of its negative reviews。 And it became one of my favorite books ever。

Was not expecting the book to be that good seeing some of the reviews online, however, it truly changed my opinion。 I had so much fun reading it and got absolutely sucked into the story。 Really fun book!

But those honey, empty eyes got me hooked。 He is insufferable, grumpy, yet insanely powerful with q soft side。 I totally knew he was falling for her but wow I just wanted to dive into the book and hug him。 He is the definition of a gentle giant。 I wonder how it will play out… I feel like grim is planning revenge and going to turn full villain。 He just screams possessiveness to me but maybe not in the hot way。 Okay I’m rambling but wow。 Great book。 。。。more

4。5 stars。 I ate this book up。 Took away the 。5 because it was slow and but difficult to follow in the beginning, but damn, so much lead up the the ending, and I didn’t expect that at all。 I thought it would be a betrayal at the end, did not expect who。 But I was team Grim, maybe Oro will prove me wrong in the next book。

I don’t know where I’m even supposed to start。 This story was over hyped on TikTok and I don’t understand that。 It was a waste of many reading hours。 I could not suggest this book in good conscious。 It had no world building, no deep characters and very limited plot。 The story dragged for chapters, the only action happening in the end of the book。 The main character was boring and childish。 Oro was bland and for some reason I thought he was a old man until half way through when I realize he was s I don’t know where I’m even supposed to start。 This story was over hyped on TikTok and I don’t understand that。 It was a waste of many reading hours。 I could not suggest this book in good conscious。 It had no world building, no deep characters and very limited plot。 The story dragged for chapters, the only action happening in the end of the book。 The main character was boring and childish。 Oro was bland and for some reason I thought he was a old man until half way through when I realize he was some sort of half explained love interest。 I thought this story was enemies to lovers but the “enemy” had a total of like 7 scenes where he had the personality of a old sock。 I thought this story was YA because it was written so terribly and then I was back handed with a half assed smut scene?? The ending plot twist was lame and I could see it from a mile away。 I won’t be reading the next book in the series and I won’t be recommending this book to anyone。 。。。more

In the beginning, I was so confused by the actual layout of the land and curses。 One group is cursed to eat “human hearts。” Are humans separate from the characters of the book? Where are they finding a supply of fresh human hearts? Are the characters of the book considered human despite living centuries and holding powers? This is one example of many ignorances that are never addressed。 There is no character development。 Absolutely zero。 Not even an inkling。 It’s so void, it’s difficult to connect to any of the emotions our main character feels。 Our main character is the definition of naive。 In a setting where trust is the key, she hands it out like candy and is surprised when she gets burn。 She’s unreasonably suspicious of others who have done no wrong to her。 The pacing is random and very off-kilter。 My biggest dislike of the book? There is no true development。 Every “twist” has no foreshadowing, no hints, no intricate underlay。 The author tells you the twist AND THEN tells you the background for how or why that twist happened。 It felt like the author was filling in all the plot holes opened by the twist immediately after with nonsensical events that were never prevalent, mentioned or even hinted at as being a possibility。 HOWEVERIf you want a lighthearted, easy read that is the pinnacle of simple young adult, Lightlark is for you。 。。。more

A wild ride filled with curses, action, growth, and honestly everything a reader could ask for。 This book is amazing in the way that some other books aren’t。 You begin in action, and are presented a beautiful world (if only there was a map😩) with multiple different locations。 Alex Aster is amazing at only giving you enough information to keep you guessing and wondering。 A beautiful write for readers that need something to keep them on their toes。 This will be a read that you’ll want to reread ov A wild ride filled with curses, action, growth, and honestly everything a reader could ask for。 This book is amazing in the way that some other books aren’t。 You begin in action, and are presented a beautiful world (if only there was a map😩) with multiple different locations。 Alex Aster is amazing at only giving you enough information to keep you guessing and wondering。 A beautiful write for readers that need something to keep them on their toes。 This will be a read that you’ll want to reread over and over again。 The book also features vibrantly different characters that you’ll love (or hate)。 The only question I have is, why haven’t I read this sooner? I can not wait for Nightbane。 。。。more

Had to DNF。 The writing wasn’t good, the world building was poor, the main character Isla was annoying, and I didn’t feel connected to anyone。 Good idea。 Poorly executed。

The twists and turns in this book keep you guessing the whole time! The book starts out fairly slow with a bunch of world building which is hard to follow at first。 I had to keep going back and rereading pages to make sure I was following。 I did enjoy the different style of magic and overall story of the book。 I will definitely be reading the next book because I have to know after the cliffhanger!
