Ok， it was a bit slow and Alina’s monologue is a little bit draining but the new characters that were introduced were fantastic and the world building was exceptional！！ I’m starting to feel that the Darkling’s character is a little underdeveloped （hopefully more will be revealed in the final book） but I felt there was a lack of backstory as to why he’s the ‘villain’ which I think by this point we really should have had （at least a deeper insight into what’s already been laid down） his character Ok， it was a bit slow and Alina’s monologue is a little bit draining but the new characters that were introduced were fantastic and the world building was exceptional！！ I’m starting to feel that the Darkling’s character is a little underdeveloped （hopefully more will be revealed in the final book） but I felt there was a lack of backstory as to why he’s the ‘villain’ which I think by this point we really should have had （at least a deeper insight into what’s already been laid down） his character is good but his portrayal as a villain could be stronger and it I think he needs some deeper motives。 （All just personal opinion！！！） 。。。more

The book was very simple so to speak。 It was a loop of the same things repeated through the chapters， good writing but it is lucky to be part of a series。 I did think Shadow and Bone was better。

A lacklustre three。Why is everyone simping over Alina， who is the dullest character of the series， yet all the boys are head over heels for her？Why is everyone so mean to Mal？ He’s not bad。I’m willing to pay Nikolai’s medical bills， because he broke his back carrying this book。Not much happened and yet everything happened？Stop using love triangles。
