Summary

In the wake of his retirement from professional basketball, Kobe “The Black Mamba” Bryant has decided to share his vast knowledge and understanding of the game to take readers on an unprecedented journey to the core of the legendary “Mamba mentality。” Citing an obligation and an opportunity to teach young players, hardcore fans, and devoted students of the game how to play it “the right way,” The Mamba Mentality takes us inside the mind of one of the most intelligent, analytical, and creative basketball players ever。

For the first time, and in his own words, Bryant reveals his famously detailed approach and the steps he took to prepare mentally and physically to not just succeed at the game, but to excel。 Readers will learn how Bryant studied an opponent, how he channeled his passion for the game, how he played through injuries。 They’ll also get fascinating granular detail as he breaks down specific plays and match-ups from throughout his career。

Bryant’s detailed accounts are paired with stunning photographs by the Hall of Fame photographer Andrew D。 Bernstein。 Bernstein, long the Lakers and NBA official photographer, captured Bryant’s very first NBA photo in 1996 and his last in 2016—and hundreds of thousands in between, the record of a unique, twenty-year relationship between one athlete and one photographer。

Basketball taught him everything he needed to be great in and outMy god what a book。 I have never been a Kobe fan in Bball。 Timmy D was my guy but I respected Kobe being the GOAT of his era。 This book explains why he was and why even post Bball he started becoming successful in his other endeavours。 The lessons that he learnt in his 20 years and shares gives you such a blueprint on not only being successful but dominating your space without sacrificing what is important to you。 I love the book a Basketball taught him everything he needed to be great in and outMy god what a book。 I have never been a Kobe fan in Bball。 Timmy D was my guy but I respected Kobe being the GOAT of his era。 This book explains why he was and why even post Bball he started becoming successful in his other endeavours。 The lessons that he learnt in his 20 years and shares gives you such a blueprint on not only being successful but dominating your space without sacrificing what is important to you。 I love the book and now I’m off to dominate my space。 RIP Mamba and mambacita。 Thank you。 。。。more

The beauty of The Mamba Mentality is its complexity tied up in a position of simplicity。 What does that mean? It is many short-burst stories of the late Kobe’s lessons learned throughout his career。 While it is based around his basketball career and his development as a globally recognised athlete, hidden in each story are many lessons that tap into the subconscious。This is perfect if you have a sport-obsessed kid that isn’t necessarily reading or academically obsessed, they will be able to rela The beauty of The Mamba Mentality is its complexity tied up in a position of simplicity。 What does that mean? It is many short-burst stories of the late Kobe’s lessons learned throughout his career。 While it is based around his basketball career and his development as a globally recognised athlete, hidden in each story are many lessons that tap into the subconscious。This is perfect if you have a sport-obsessed kid that isn’t necessarily reading or academically obsessed, they will be able to relate and understand in a “sport language”。 It's fairly short and photo heavy。Each Mamba tells the story of a photograph from his career - many with handwritten notes explaining what is going on and/or what he learnt and developed from the particular situation。From a sportsperson or business person’s perspective - it is suitable and useful across the board - your brain can’t help but translating Kobe’s words to situations you find yourself, have found yourself - or WILL find yourself in - and the strategies that are applicable。 You don’t have to be a basketball fan to get benefit from the Mamba Mentality。He hit his straps with one of the greats of all time - Phil Jackson - as a coach and after reading 11 Rings: The Soul of Success, you can see where Jackson’s unique coaching methods have rubbed off。 。。。more

This book is a must-read for every young basketball player who wants to excel at the game。 Kobe's insights are very helpful and detailed, he mentions little tips and tricks that can help improve your game and have the edge advantage at crucial moments in league games。 Kobe is incredibly detailed and was full of pure passion, you can actually feel all of that passion and burning desire he had to win games through the book。Kobe's work ethic is simply unmatched。 This book is a must-read for every young basketball player who wants to excel at the game。 Kobe's insights are very helpful and detailed, he mentions little tips and tricks that can help improve your game and have the edge advantage at crucial moments in league games。 Kobe is incredibly detailed and was full of pure passion, you can actually feel all of that passion and burning desire he had to win games through the book。Kobe's work ethic is simply unmatched。 。。。more

For what it is, it's very good。 It's a photo-heavy autobiographical account of Kobe Bryant's life work in basketball。 The segments on process and routine were fascinating, and the detail of how he approached various aspects of his craft are interesting, but you get a much deeper look inside his analytical mind if you watch any of the Detail video segments on ESPN。Happy Reading!

This is not a typical biography。 This is Kobe Bean Bryant talking about experiences, albeit good or bad, that shaped his career。 The book displays his passion and knowledge for the game。 Kobe divulges to you technically/logically。 Not persuasive。 It is clearly written, accessible and informative。 Kobe achieved his goal by giving off a broad view of Mamba Mentality that anyone can understand。 He fell short in giving die-hard fans more to sink their teeth into。 I liked when Kobe was talking about This is not a typical biography。 This is Kobe Bean Bryant talking about experiences, albeit good or bad, that shaped his career。 The book displays his passion and knowledge for the game。 Kobe divulges to you technically/logically。 Not persuasive。 It is clearly written, accessible and informative。 Kobe achieved his goal by giving off a broad view of Mamba Mentality that anyone can understand。 He fell short in giving die-hard fans more to sink their teeth into。 I liked when Kobe was talking about the mentality of going into a game thinking, "I'm scoring on anyone who guards me," gave Kobe an edge over his opponents。 Kobe's will to get to the gym every day before anyone else gave him an advantage。 When he talked about what he did before games and the gym, it makes me want to think the same thing before id those things。 People should read this book becuase it is how Kobe got will in the NBA。 It can help you know what to do in situations that you faced and how you can accomplish those goals that you want。 There is a lot of good quotes and goals that can help you to get to success。 。。。more

So I actually have this book at home。 I read this about 3 times, and this book is really good, it has honestly helped me through things when I was down or nervous。 The book talks about what Kobe went through in his basketball career。 He has met a lot of people, has had a lot of great moments, a lot of bad moments, and more。 It also gives some motivational quotes。 I really love this book and I also play sports, it helps me get in the right mindset。

The first thing you need to know going into this book is that for Kobe, basketball was his life。 If you were looking to learn more about Bryant’s early life as a child or his time in high school, I suggest you read a different book because this book is all about Kobe and Basketball, and it's awesome。It starts out in the perspective of the Laker’s coach Phil Jackson who just recruited the young athlete straight out of high school。 He was blown away by how well Kobe was able to adapt to the new en The first thing you need to know going into this book is that for Kobe, basketball was his life。 If you were looking to learn more about Bryant’s early life as a child or his time in high school, I suggest you read a different book because this book is all about Kobe and Basketball, and it's awesome。It starts out in the perspective of the Laker’s coach Phil Jackson who just recruited the young athlete straight out of high school。 He was blown away by how well Kobe was able to adapt to the new environment, and said that he already seemed like a veteran in the league。 Although the book starts with Bryant as a rookie, the book doesn’t necessarily follow a timeline。 Each chapter is like an answer to a question that Kobe was asked during an interview。 On one page he may talk about his basketball routine, and the very next about his Nike deal。 This thematic style of writing really gives you an idea of the type of person Kobe is and the life that he led。 He remembers interactions with teammates, opponents, coaches, and staff so vividly despite being in the NBA for so long showing how much he cared for the sport of basketball。 Each page is a new interaction, a new lesson, a new story。 Each page is a moment in Kobe’s life that he needed to become the best。“The mindset isn’t about seeking the result-its more about the process of getting to that result。 It's about the journey and the approach。 It's a way of life。 I do think that it's important, in all endeavors, to have that mentality。”I barely knew anything about Kobe before I read this book。 I was always told as a kid that he was a “ball hog” that didn’t pass the ball。 After hearing his passing, I wanted to revisit this idea to know what kind of person he was。I genuinely had fun reading this book and looking at the pictures on each page。 I could picture the moments and people he met with ease。This is a great book, and I feel like it's the closest thing to knowing the five time NBA champion, the 18-time All-Star, 15-time member of the All-NBA Team, 12-time member of the All-Defensive Team, 2008 NBA Most Valuable Player, and a two-time NBA Finals MVP, Kobe Bryant。 。。。more

The Mamba Mentality is a memoir written by the former basketball player Kobe Bryant, who passed away in a helicopter accident last year。 This memoir highlights Bryant specifically as a basketball player, and covers what he does to achieve certain goals that he has。 He takes us on a journey from the beginning of his career to the end, which includes both hardships and success。 The success didn’t come easily; it came with lots of ups and downs。The structure of this particular memoir isn’t like a n The Mamba Mentality is a memoir written by the former basketball player Kobe Bryant, who passed away in a helicopter accident last year。 This memoir highlights Bryant specifically as a basketball player, and covers what he does to achieve certain goals that he has。 He takes us on a journey from the beginning of his career to the end, which includes both hardships and success。 The success didn’t come easily; it came with lots of ups and downs。The structure of this particular memoir isn’t like a normal memoir。 Instead of being told in chronological order, it often time jumps, but I actually enjoyed it。 (view spoiler)[If it was chronological throughout the memoir, it might be a bit boring。 Some people who are huge fans of Bryant might know what would happen next with the year being written on the page。 Readers should probably have some sort of suspense about not knowing what will happen next。 Showing different time jumps at different parts made the book more interesting。 (view spoiler)[The way Bryant acts with the refs is very different from other basketball players I’ve seen on television。 He treats the refs like actual people instead of a person he can yell at。 Bryant goes into detail on what the refs’ job is actually like, which gives a lot more insight for readers。 People who are unfamiliar with basketball may not understand what refs do, but Bryant’s description helps out a lot。 (view spoiler)[The information he provides not only helps people who are a fan of the sport, but also helps non-basketball people as well。 Adding on, the basketball vocabulary he uses is simple enough for anybody to understand。 There were a few things about this memoir’s structure that didn’t sit right with me。 When he cusses he creates an informal tone。 Throughout the book, there are many times where he would go from formal back to informal language。 Even though this is a pretty easy book to follow along, he should probably stick to one format。 (view spoiler)[ Lastly, Bryant’s purpose is to only talk about his basketball career, which ignores his family and personal life。 tBy the end of the book, Bryant is still talking about his basketball career, and time jumps again。 (view spoiler)[ This book could be for children of middle school age and up due to some mature language。 But parents could bleep it out if they read together。 I would recommend this book to people who are interested in Bryant as a basketball player or any basketball fans in general。(hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)] 。。。more
