Current incoherent screaming at the brilliance。 Will return with words and emotions and whatnot after at least 1-2 rereads。 Was approved for an ARC on Edelweiss (thank you, thank you, thank you) and I’m still feeling the high! Will also be doing a podcast episode because I’m obsessed 🤩

LAST GUARD has officially become my favorite Psy/Psy book and I know will be one I reread often。 I'm not only blessed to have received an early copy, but truly blessed to watch Nalini's talent soar。A beautiful, thrilling, and soul-aching book, I cannot wait to read again。 LAST GUARD has officially become my favorite Psy/Psy book and I know will be one I reread often。 I'm not only blessed to have received an early copy, but truly blessed to watch Nalini's talent soar。A beautiful, thrilling, and soul-aching book, I cannot wait to read again。 。。。more

I received an ARC from NetGalley。Another winning entry in the Psy Changeling universe! This was a wonderful second chance romance featuring two childhood trauma and abuse survivors。 The romance seemed a little fast to me given that Psy have only recently embraced emotions and that both Payal and Canto have hidden their pasts and themselves from the world but I think it worked overall。 Readers have had glimpses of the Psynet anchors in previous books (Sophia in Bonds of Justice for instance) but I received an ARC from NetGalley。Another winning entry in the Psy Changeling universe! The Last Guard reminds me so much of Sahara and Kaleb's story。 Canto and Payal met when they were young and had to fight against monsters together。 Nalini gives us a closer look at the Mercant's family structure which I enjoyed immensely。 It is nice to see the growth of old characters and the introduction to new ones。 It was interesting to see a Psych that was not physically perfect。 Though Canto is limited in physically abilities one does not notice in the story。 HIs character is brash, direct The Last Guard reminds me so much of Sahara and Kaleb's story。 Canto and Payal met when they were young and had to fight against monsters together。 Nalini gives us a closer look at the Mercant's family structure which I enjoyed immensely。 It is nice to see the growth of old characters and the introduction to new ones。 It was interesting to see a Psych that was not physically perfect。 Though Canto is limited in physically abilities one does not notice in the story。 HIs character is brash, direct and strong。 Payal I feel is the Kaleb in this relationship。 Canto is her calm and her anchor。 Pun intended。 Nalini has pushed the plot along leaving us wanting to know who is this Architect and what the hell is going to happen to the Net。 A great and satisfying installment。 。。。more

That was fabulous! I still have a happy smile on my face after finishing it last night。 One of my favourite books in the series! The comfort of the familiar world and writing coupled with the thrill of seeing where the over-arching suspense plot will go。 It makes a perfect read for me!Full review to come closer to release。CW: child abuse (in the past), eugenics, torture (physical and mental), violence, ableism (challenged throughout the story)I received an ARC from Berkley via Edelweiss

Love that the main characters aren’t perfect。 Both are disabled but don’t let it get in there way。

This book really surprised me in the best way possible。 I've been reading this series for over a decade now and thought I had just fallen into a grove, especially when the previous book did not wow me。 But then Last Guard knocked it out of the park!I don't want to give any spoilers but there are some aspects of this book that I absolutely loved and must talk about。 First, for those of us that have watched the evolution of this world and love that part of the series- this book is for us。 Don't ge This book really surprised me in the best way possible。 I've been reading this series for over a decade now and thought I had just fallen into a grove, especially when the previous book did not wow me。 But then Last Guard knocked it out of the park!I don't want to give any spoilers but there are some aspects of this book that I absolutely loved and must talk about。 First, for those of us that have watched the evolution of this world and love that part of the series- this book is for us。 Don't get me wrong, the romance and the characters are classic Nalini Singh and are very good, but the expansion of the world is beautiful。 I loved getting to better understand A-Psy and the Psynet as a whole。 It was brilliantly done and I applaud Nalini Singh。Second, THE REPRESENTATION! This book is beautifully diverse and I loved it so much。 I know Nalini Singh has been slowly working more diversity into her series with background disabled and queer characters。 But here they are fully on display。 Canto, the male love interest, is paralyzed from the waist down, one of the Anchors is non-binary, and finally, a queer couple is fully written on the page and has their own scene! I loved every second of it。 Since this is a romance I will touch on that- it was honestly exactly as I expected。 This is the 20th book in this world, and if you read the other 19 you have a solid idea of how this is going to go。 Of course, each character is unique and they are NOT carbon copies of each other like you see in other series。 I greatly enjoyed the character development and the romance, but it didn't surprise me in any way。 I did really appreciate not having these characters play a huge role (or any role) in previous books so that I could go in with no previous experience and just enjoy meeting Payal and Canto。 Well, I ranted enough。 If my star rating didn't give it away let me leave you with just saying- yes, I truly loved this book! Thanks to Netgalley and Berkley for access to the digital ARC。 。。。more

I received an ARC from Netgalley, and I write this review voluntarily。 Cantos and Payal's story is enduring and fraught with difficulties。 Cantos is a Mercant, and his family pays a large role in the story, so we learn lots of new details about them。 Alot of the old characters are in the story, and more hints about Nikita and her life are given。 This was a great read and I'm really looking forward to the next book。 I received an ARC from Netgalley, and I write this review voluntarily。 Cantos and Payal's story is enduring and fraught with difficulties。 Cantos is a Mercant, and his family pays a large role in the story, so we learn lots of new details about them。 Alot of the old characters are in the story, and more hints about Nikita and her life are given。 This was a great read and I'm really looking forward to the next book。 。。。more

There better be another book from Singh featuring one of them in the future, because they are just so damn entertaining。 Kaleb makes a pretty big appearance, as well as Sophia, so we do get a lot of callbacks to older books in this new installment。Also, the ending is a cliffhanger when it comes to the overarching plotline of this series, so I have a feeling the next book is going to have a lot of action in it。All in all, this isn't my favorite book in this series, as it had a lot of information to dump on the reader, and it really felt like a transitional story between one big moment to the next big moment。 The two main characters are great, but I felt like the romance was overshadowed by all of the cataclysmic stuff that was going on in the plotline。 When I say you can't skip this book, I mean it。 It is clearly integral to understanding the overarching plot of this series。 As I have said in past reviews of the Psy-Changeling series, I strongly recommend this series, but you cannot start with this book, because you will have no idea what is going on。 Book 1 is Slave to Sensation。 Start from there, and you work your way up。 This is one of my favorite paranormal romance series for a reason。 。。。more
