Sally Hepworth usually does the unexpected and this book is no different。 The story of Pippa and Gabe and Amanda and Max told before “the incident” and after。 A look at marriage and death with a few twists and turns。 Kept me hooked from beginning t9 end。

The book caught my attention right away。 The characters were interesting and flawed。 I liked the way things were revealed slowly。 This was a twisty story that examined marriage, and truth and lies。 My only complaint was I wished it had been longer。

Taylor Creswell

Highly entertaining。 Loved the short chapters and had a plot twist I didn’t see coming。

This books was well written, I liked the short chapters and it was easy to read。 I enjoyed the unique perspective of having one of the narrators be dead while speaking。 I only gave it three stars because for a thriller it wasn’t very thrilling, it was more about a relationship than it was a mystery or thriller。 I also think it will end up being a little forgettable。

Oh Gabe, you crazy, deranged man!! I’m glad Pippa kicked you to the curb—she had every reason to, after all you put her through。 She selflessly raised your child, who you created through an AFFAIR!! If that were me, I believe I would eventually despise that child because of how it came into my life。 So, kudos to Pippa for being the bigger person。 She may have made a move on Max, but it was only because of the stress YOU put her through, AGAIN, Gabe。 Are you noticing a theme here, Gabe?!?! Because I am, and to sum it up, you’re a shitty person。 Pippa dumped you and was able to get her head straight and get her ducks in a row…like any strong woman should!! This was an amazing read I couldn’t get through fast enough, and I hope Hepworth’s next book carries the same vibe。 。。。more

I actually enjoyed this book。 It wasn't super suspenseful or thrilling。 In fact, it was kinda a slow burn, but overall I enjoyed the story。 I actually enjoyed this book。 It wasn't super suspenseful or thrilling。 In fact, it was kinda a slow burn, but overall I enjoyed the story。 。。。more

4⭐️ Thank you St。 Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth。 I really wanted to like Pippa but she was the most gaslit character who I have ever read about。 Time and time again, it was so obvious that Gabe was using her empathy and sympathy for him, against her and for his own means。 I never understood how such a smart person as Pippa could see something and then quickly twist it to then be in his favor。 And constant disappointments that she s 4⭐️ Thank you St。 Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth。 I really wanted to like Pippa but she was the most gaslit character who I have ever read about。 Time and time again, it was so obvious that Gabe was using her empathy and sympathy for him, against her and for his own means。 I never understood how such a smart person as Pippa could see something and then quickly twist it to then be in his favor。 And constant disappointments that she suffered at his expense were just baffling。 I so liked Max and Amanda and their relationship。 It was far from perfect, but they crafted one that almost worked for them。 I was so sorry that they didn’t realize/acknowledge/verbalize how much they not only respected each other, bust truly loved each other。 I didn’t see the ending coming, even as i was putting the threads together。 I have to say though that my favorite people were Asha and Freya。 。。。more

a decent read but nothing to write home about。 this was my march pick for botm and it had pretty solid reviews。 i flew through this on the plane, but it didn’t do much for me。 the concept was good at first but it felt lackluster。 i needed more drama and more twists。 I did like the alternating perspectives and then “before/after”。 I’ve just preferred other books from this author much more

3。5“Thrillers” are not my first choice to read, but I always enjoy Sally Hepworth books。 They are a good touch of fiction, mystery, and keeping you guessing without being scary or ridiculous。 I find her writing to be entertaining and smart。 This wasn’t my favorite of her books… “Mother-in-law” and “The Good Sister” I would recommend first。

This was not the compulsive read I was hoping it would be for me! I was hooked initially and then it started dragging。 The story is set up with "before" and "after" POVs。 Pippa is the loving wife of charismatic Gabe。 They seem to have an idyllic life with their two daughters in a coastal town。 When a local towns woman falls from the cliffs by Pippa and Gabe's home, it is deemed a tragic accident。 But what if there is more to the story? Great read!I loved the way it was written! POV from two characters, but you get past and present from both。 The chapters are short, but they weave together perfectly! There were a couple of surprises towards the end that I was NOT expecting!

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I was disappointed by this book。 I appreciated the alternating POVs but I couldn’t understand how or why we got Amanda’s。 Additionally, Pippa’s blind faith was difficult as well。 However, if we had a great reveal at the end, I probably would have been able to overlook things。 But I don’t feel like there really was a reveal whatsoever and the parentage did not really have any implication on the plot。 I don’t know。 it was a fine read but not my favorite thriller and I was able to put the book down I was disappointed by this book。 I appreciated the alternating POVs but I couldn’t understand how or why we got Amanda’s。 Additionally, Pippa’s blind faith was difficult as well。 However, if we had a great reveal at the end, I probably would have been able to overlook things。 But I don’t feel like there really was a reveal whatsoever and the parentage did not really have any implication on the plot。 I don’t know。 it was a fine read but not my favorite thriller and I was able to put the book down, which is something I don’t want to be able to do when reading a thriller。 。。。more

Pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed reading this domestic thriller from my Book of the Month box。 I really liked the short chapters and the different viewpoints both past and present。 This thriller was unique in the fact that the ending is actually heartwarming。 I definitely recommend this one。

Holy cats and dogs。 This book was a page turning, nail biter。 I flew through this in just a few sittings。。 finding myself unable to put it down at night, falling asleep mid sentence。 Between Pippa & Gabe and Amanda & Max I absolutely loved to hate these characters。 You feel like you might love them at first but as the story progresses and their flaws are revealed, secrets leaked AND kept, lies told to keep those safe and hurt others all at the same time。 I said what I said, I loved hating these Holy cats and dogs。 This book was a page turning, nail biter。 I flew through this in just a few sittings。。 finding myself unable to put it down at night, falling asleep mid sentence。 Between Pippa & Gabe and Amanda & Max I absolutely loved to hate these characters。 You feel like you might love them at first but as the story progresses and their flaws are revealed, secrets leaked AND kept, lies told to keep those safe and hurt others all at the same time。 I said what I said, I loved hating these main characters。 And just when I thought I’d figured out the story, a new twist is thrown in every 20-30 pages, making me sink deeper and deeper into the waters of The Soulmate。 。。。more

4。5 stars - loved it! So easy, well written, fast paced and I did not see the big twist coming。 It came a little bit out of left field and I’m not sure how believable it was but I loved all of the characters so much and was rooting for everyone in their own way。 She’s a great author who always delivers and I thought the ending was pretty strong。 For some reason I’m never quite a 5 star w her books, but I finished this in less than two days and really wanted to pick it back up - highly recommend!
