I'm making an attempt to opt for audiobooks that I already own and haven't found the dedication to read - all while marking off books on my Book of the Month Bookshelf - and frankly， I'm thrilled I listened to this one in place of reading it。 The narrator was great， and I was able to remove myself from the story （does anyone else insert themself as the main character when they read？） and it made it more enjoyable for me since I am 100% confident I would not have made the same choices as these ch I'm making an attempt to opt for audiobooks that I already own and haven't found the dedication to read - all while marking off books on my Book of the Month Bookshelf - and frankly， I'm thrilled I listened to this one in place of reading it。 The narrator was great， and I was able to remove myself from the story （does anyone else insert themself as the main character when they read？） and it made it more enjoyable for me since I am 100% confident I would not have made the same choices as these characters。 This book didn't play out as I expected， and while I'm excited to watch the mini-series on this， I can't help but wonder if knowing that Jennifer Garner will be playing Hannah distorted the character in my head to be more likeable？ I will confess that the reason I borrowed this audiobook from my library is in part due to my excitement to see her in the role。 All in all， I didn't love this book， but found it enjoyable enough。 I didn't quite meet my criteria for a feel good ending - which I feel always leaves me with a bit of a book hangover - but， it was well written， captivating， and I found myself wanting to return to it to hear where the story would take us next。 I would say this one falls closer to 4 stars than 3， but just wasn't quite satisfying enough for me to click that fourth star。 。。。more

I think the more realistic rating of this book would be a 3。7ish。 The Last Thing isn’t something that will stick with you after you have read it， just a fun mystery that kinda sweeps you in from the beginning。 I read it like I would binge a Netflix show （they are actually making a movie or show from this in Apple TV +） on a weekend where I have nothing better to do， aka this past weekend。 If you’re looking for easy entertainment and a quick read， this will scratch the itch。

Enough mystery to keep my attention but lacking in suspense。 Mary Higgins Clark would have definitely given this story some twisted spice ha ha I felt that Hannah didn’t react with much emotion to the situation。 She just took it all in stride， I didn’t find that believable。“The thing about good & evil is they aren’t so far apart。 They often start from the valiant place of wanting something to be different。”
