Read this book after completing the trilogy。 It is a calming and enjoyable read, especially after witnessing Pip's beautiful world being disrupted by all the crimes in the trilogy。 I recommend that anyone willing to read it should do so after at least completing the first book。 There are no spoilers, and it will give you a sense of where and why all the chaos in Pip's life began。 Part of me wishes this book were a full-fledged novel, while the other part feels that it is perfect enough as a preq Read this book after completing the trilogy。 It is a calming and enjoyable read, especially after witnessing Pip's beautiful world being disrupted by all the crimes in the trilogy。 I recommend that anyone willing to read it should do so after at least completing the first book。 There are no spoilers, and it will give you a sense of where and why all the chaos in Pip's life began。 Part of me wishes this book were a full-fledged novel, while the other part feels that it is perfect enough as a prequel。 This book is like the cherry on top of the cake for this trilogy。Happy Readings!! 。。。more

I received a free copy from Random House Children's Books via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。 I really enjoyed revisiting the A Good Girl's Guide to Murder universe via a murder mystery dinner party。 The novella is only about 100 pages long, so it just flies! I found the story actually very engaging。 I also enjoyed how this novella gives insight into Pip's motivations for choosing to investigate the murder of Andie Bell and the wrongful accusing of Sal Singh。 Pick this one up for a f I received a free copy from Random House Children's Books via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。 I really enjoyed revisiting the A Good Girl's Guide to Murder universe via a murder mystery dinner party。 The novella is only about 100 pages long, so it just flies! Twists, turns & tension packed into such a short read。 I would read Holly Jackson’s shopping list。

Kill Joy is a novella-length prequel to A Good Girl's Guide to Murder。Series heroine 17-year-old Pippa Fitz-Amobi and her circle of friends converge for a post-exams dinner at Connor's house。 It's a themed 1920s "Host a Murder" party of the type that older readers might recall were very popular in the 1990s。 Each attendee is assigned an identity that they must assume for the evening, and clues to the murder are gradually revealed to each participant。 At the conclusion of the party, they must eac Kill Joy is a novella-length prequel to A Good Girl's Guide to Murder。Series heroine 17-year-old Pippa Fitz-Amobi and her circle of friends converge for a post-exams dinner at Connor's house。 It's a themed 1920s "Host a Murder" party of the type that older readers might recall were very popular in the 1990s。 Each attendee is assigned an identity that they must assume for the evening, and clues to the murder are gradually revealed to each participant。 At the conclusion of the party, they must each make their own declaration of who they think the murderer is, and the reason why the crime was committed。Pippa and her friends break character for various high-jinks during the party, and there's some scene-setting for Pippa's controversial decision to investigate the disappearance of Andie Bell in A Good Girl's Guide to Murder。 However, the narrative is primarily based around the fictional mystery that Pippa and her friends are play-acting。 It's an entertaining enough premise, although I shared the main character's sense of disappointment at the eventual "solution"。Kill Joy was a light and fast read, but I wouldn't consider it particularly essential reading for lovers of the A Good Girl's Guide to Murder series。 。。。more

4,5 stars** ❗️i will recommend to read the entire agggtm series first❗️ holly jackson did it again, this was a very fun easy read, and it was cool seeing where pip got her personality from。 It was just like the other books but then way shorter and not rl but still very fun to read and will recommend if you’ve read everything

i’ve got to stop thinking everything is a MCR reference。 it was alright, i suppose。 pip pisses me off for some reason lol

I absolutely love a murder mystery dinner, and the way Kill Joy is written made me feel like I was sitting at a table with my friends trying to figure out the killer。 I will say that Pip and Ant felt 3x more annoying than usual, but that didn’t diminish how much fun this was to read。 Thanks to Netgalley and Electric Monkey for the ARC in exchange for my honest review! Kill Joy, the prequel to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, will be available February 28th!

Artificially inflating my book count with a 130-page novella。 But I'm going to spend way too long reading a 900-page fantasy within the next couple months, so IT'S CALLED BALANCE, HONEY。 Plus, this was super fun and makes me frustrated all over again about how this series ended (because it started so interestingly!)This is from NetGalley, so full review TK! 3。5/5Thanks to netgalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review! This was a fun, fast time。 This wasn’t really a necessary book lmao but I still had a good time and it was fun seeing the characters before all the trauma of the first three books (though Pip was waaaaaay intense for this game LMAO)。 Overall a good time for fans of the series and even if you don’t like it, hey, it’s a super fast read anyway。

This was a fun novella and made me want to organize a murder mystery game。 It's set before the first book, so Pip isn't yet traumatized from all the things and gets to have fun solving the murder。 It was easy to get invested in the game and I found myself trying to put the clues together along with Pip。 The ending was a bit unexpected and I may just have to reread the first Girl's Guide book again!I voluntarily read and reviewed this book。 All opinions are my own。 Thank you to Delacorte Press an This was a fun novella and made me want to organize a murder mystery game。 It's set before the first book, so Pip isn't yet traumatized from all the things and gets to have fun solving the murder。 It was easy to get invested in the game and I found myself trying to put the clues together along with Pip。 The ending was a bit unexpected and I may just have to reread the first Girl's Guide book again!I voluntarily read and reviewed this book。 All opinions are my own。 Thank you to Delacorte Press and NetGalley for the copy 。。。more

I assumed this story would follow Pip after her final mystery was solved and I wasn't sure how I felt about that because the ending to "As Good As Dead" was amazing! This is a prequel leading up to Pips decision to investigate Andie Bells murder, for her Capstone Project。At a murder mystery party Pip gets a taste and investigating a crime and it seems like she is now hooked。This book was a quick and fun read and the ending was rather comical。 While it did not add much to Pips story, it was still I assumed this story would follow Pip after her final mystery was solved and I wasn't sure how I felt about that because the ending to "As Good As Dead" was amazing! This is a prequel leading up to Pips decision to investigate Andie Bells murder, for her Capstone Project。At a murder mystery party Pip gets a taste and investigating a crime and it seems like she is now hooked。This book was a quick and fun read and the ending was rather comical。 While it did not add much to Pips story, it was still a great little side story。 An all fun and games read。 。。。more

What a fun prequel!! I’ve read all of Holly Jackson’s work and love how she’s always leaving you guessing。 It was nice getting back into Pip’s inquisitive, investigative brain - and to the fun dynamic seeing her and her friends letting loose (or as loose as Pip can get with her senior capstone coming)。 Along the way, you have a feeling that Jackson is going to pull the rug out from below you and it always keeps you on your toes!Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Childrens for this arc in ex What a fun prequel!! Quick and entertaining read! Loved getting a backstory on Pip and how she came to choose her project。 I’ve always wanted to be a part of a murder mystery game and this just made me wanna do it more。 Even though nothing happened, I was still really on the edge of my seat and am definitely sleeping with a night light on because the scene in the basement creeped me out justttttt a bit 😂 so jealous of people that get to read this before the series now but thank you Holly for a last slice of Pip!

A lot of times with series if there’s a lot of time between books I forget many things, including my opinion! I loved how little tidbits of info alluded to things that happened in the other books。 I got sad about some mentions but loved how the detail tied the series together calling out to the other books and characters!I enjoyed how modern it is; talking to Alexa as they play and having that one friend who can’t live without her phone 🙄。 And lastly I found it very humorous at times。I missed Pip and Ravi together that I loved in the series, but it wouldn’t have made sense to have him there for the overall series storyline。 Overall, exciting, keep you on your toes, put you in Pip’s shoes mystery solving fun!
