Summary

10 hours

Lies from the heart lead to a dangerously intimate case for Sheriff Bree Taggert in #1 Amazon Charts and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Melinda Leigh’s novel of revenge and fatal deceptions。

When a digital marketer is found murdered in his backyard—hands bound and face smothered by plastic wrap—Sheriff Bree Taggert and criminal investigator Matt Flynn respond to the call。 Their investigation focuses on the man’s dating-app profile and the word liar carved into his forehead。

One day later, the killer strikes again。

Both victims are players in the internet dating scene。 In their wake, they leave a trail of hurt—and angry—women。 But Bree and Matt aren’t convinced the motive is as simple as it appears。 Everyone they interview seems to be lying or hiding something。

As the list of suspects grows, the killer’s rage escalates, and he leaves a personal and deadly warning for Bree。 They must act fast。 Because someone Bree loves is targeted as the next to die。

Love This series! The author has command not only of the plot, but the characters also。 The heroine and hero have great chemistry。 And they are family oriented。 Gotta love that grounding effect and total commitment! The interaction between humans and animals is great too! Cannot wait for the next one!!!

“I spend twelve hours a day with people。 When I get home, I’m done peopling。”Bree Taggert is my favorite! I can’t get enough of her and Matt! Or Todd and Cady! I just love the whole gang! This story was so good! I love when you get the killers POV without knowing who it is。 The whole story wove together so well and the conclusion, as always, was perfect! I’ll never want to give up Sheriff Taggert’s stories!

Lie To Her was quite the extreme thriller, right from page one, and the huge mystery keeps you guessing the whole way through。 I know the clues she kept dropping definitely led me astray, to the character she was trying to lead us to believing was the serial killer the whole way, and then with so many twists and turns we kept second guessing if we were right or if perhaps we hadn’t been introduced to the real suspect yet。 Brilliant writing, clues abound and I loved how the reptiles were tossed in there too - a big fear of mine!I definitely recommend this for thriller lovers, or anyone like me who’s looking for something fantastic outside their usual genre that is just really darn good。 No need to read the previous books in the series as it holds up as a standalone (though knowing Bree’s backstory is a bit helpful, it’s not as critical for this book as the previous ones)。I received an advance review copy from NetGalley and Montlake, and this is my honest feedback。 。。。more

Bree Taggart is my hero4。25 stars! Is it the best book ever written? NoBut does it have incredible mystery, suspense, and enough romance to keep my romantic heart going? YESThe only thing that would’ve made it better would’ve been a drop in of Morgan and Lance。 If Melinda keeps writing, I will keep reading

Melinda Leigh does not miss。 The Bree Taggert series is one of my favorite series and this latest addition to it does not disappoint。 It was fast-paced and kept me guessing。 I love seeing Bree and Matt’s relationship continue to grow and how well they work together。 I was glad to see Todd recovering well and getting back into the swing of things at work。 The mystery throughout this one kept me on the edge wondering how it was all going to come together。 The final showdown had me turning the page Melinda Leigh does not miss。 The Bree Taggert series is one of my favorite series and this latest addition to it does not disappoint。 It was fast-paced and kept me guessing。 I love seeing Bree and Matt’s relationship continue to grow and how well they work together。 I was glad to see Todd recovering well and getting back into the swing of things at work。 The mystery throughout this one kept me on the edge wondering how it was all going to come together。 The final showdown had me turning the pages as fast as I could to reach the conclusion。 These books are always a release-day read for me and always worth it。 。。。more

I was first introduced to this character in the Widow’s Island series and I was instantly taken with her。 Bree’s background is troubled and she’s a complicated heroine that’s tough as nails but with a heart that’s learning how to expand and open itself up to so much more。 I went into this book thinking it was going to be a shorter story such as the ones previously。 I was thrilled to find out that this was a much deeper story with a strong mystery and a variety of characters that may or may not b I was first introduced to this character in the Widow’s Island series and I was instantly taken with her。 Bree’s background is troubled and she’s a complicated heroine that’s tough as nails but with a heart that’s learning how to expand and open itself up to so much more。 I went into this book thinking it was going to be a shorter story such as the ones previously。 I was thrilled to find out that this was a much deeper story with a strong mystery and a variety of characters that may or may not be the “bad guy”。 This was a fast paced read that never slowed down。 The romance skirts just at the edges of everything else that is happening and I love those snippets so much。 Bree’s family has wormed its way into my heart and the mystery kept me guessing。 I appreciated that once the author revealed who the villain was, the story didn’t quickly wrap up。 There was so much more going on and I was on the edge of my seat through it all。Mostly heroine POVSafe (view spoiler)[very light on romance; no ow/om drama (hide spoiler)]Triggers (view spoiler)[ serial killer; violence; suffocation (hide spoiler)]Steam (view spoiler)[ 0 /5; no sex (hide spoiler)]["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]> 。。。more

When 2 men are found murdered and the scenes are earily similar Sheriff Bree Taggert is the lead investigator。 Both men were active on dating apps and the focus of the investigation starts there。 This is a fast paced read with a few twists along the way。 Besides the suspense we are given a glimpse into the characters lives along with a romance。 This book is part of a series but could easily be read as a stand alone。 Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy。

Lie To Her was really fast and easy to read。 You can easily get into the story。 You can also easily get out of it。 This is fun to read in a weekend。 You can pick up this book as a stand-alone, as I did, and enjoy it。 If you are not familiar with this series, don’t worry。 You are OK to jump right in with this one。

Wow! After Dead Against Her, I did not think Melinda Leigh's Bree Taggert series could get any better, but, happily, I was wrong! In Lie To Her, Bree and Matt are on the trail of a serial killer, and everyone they interview is lying to them。 The killer takes it up a notch with a personal threat, and then someone close to Bree is on the killer's list。 I love the relationship between Matt and Bree, as well as the family and friends that have become an important part of Bree's story。 In Lie To Her, Wow! Lie To Her is an enthralling addition to the Bree Taggert saga。 Bree and her team take on a psychopath killer whose victims hit close to home。 I really enjoy this author and this series。 Bree is entirely relatable and who wouldn’t want a honey like Matt。 The mystery keeps you riveted and guessing。 Heartily recommend。

I've really enjoyed this series and this book was no exception (this book can be read as a standalone so no worries if you haven't read the other books in the series yet)。 Melinda Leigh has done a great job with the characters, especially main character, Bree Taggert。 She is dedicated and takes her responsibility as sheriff very seriously。 I especially love that she's not afraid to put herself in harms way to protect her people and she doesn't put up with nonsense or have time to play politics。 I've really enjoyed this series and this book was no exception (this book can be read as a standalone so no worries if you haven't read the other books in the series yet)。 Melinda Leigh has done a great job with the characters, especially main character, Bree Taggert。 She is dedicated and takes her responsibility as sheriff very seriously。 I especially love that she's not afraid to put herself in harms way to protect her people and she doesn't put up with nonsense or have time to play politics。 Matt Flynn is a perfect compliment to Bree in both their personal and work relationships, and best of all he accepts that her niece and nephew are a priority for Bree。This was a fast-paced read and once I started I didn't want to put the book down。 There was no lag time, it felt like something was happening at every turn of the page。 There was even an added and unexpected element of danger that had my skin crawling and heart racing。。。 I'm glad there are more books planned in this series as I'm not ready to be done with Bree's and Matt's story and I can't wait to see what happens next。Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for providing a copy for review。 。。。more

I couldn't put this one down。 It's a police procedural, which is not typically my cup of tea, but I was drawn in by Bree Taggert and her life, trauma, and job。 The book is a quick read full of twists and turns and revelations。 I thought they all worked out in a very compelling manner。 It kept me guessing the entire time。 Having only read this one book, I can tell that Melinda Leigh has constantly been improving Bree's skills as an investigator over time。 I like that Leigh doesn't make Bree's relationship with Matt, a criminal investigator she works with, her only defining characteristic。 Their relationship is mentioned numerous times, but Bree is more than just a woman with a boyfriend。 She's tough as nails, but she also has a sea of grief trauma to navigate following the death of her sister and the "adoption" of her sister's two children。 There is a lot going on here in terms of the plot (the dynamic between Bree and her brother, the thing with the horses, the multiple murders, and the relationship between the sheriff's office and the press)。 but Leigh balances it all well。Thank you to NetGalley, Melinda Leigh, and Montlake for providing me with an ARC copy of this book! Now Bree is worried that there's a possible serial killer out there。 The second victim was also using several dating apps and dating many women at once。 None of the people that are interviewed during the investigation has anything good to say about either victim。 They used the women and then broke up with them by text。 This made several of the women very angry as they thought there was a real connection。 As Bree goes to the home of the second victim, a surprise is waiting for her。 The killer has left a note for Bree to watch her step and before you know it there's a rattling sound and a snake appears ready to strike。 Bree and Matt are able to get out of the house without the snake striking them and animal control is called to help。 The first victim had many cages of snakes in his basement and some of the cages were missing。 The book does a great job of getting you so involved that you'll read it very quickly。 It's always fun trying to guess who did it and why and this one is tough。 There are so many potential murderers that were treated badly by the victims。 Did one of the women from the dating app kill the men? Did the brother of the first victim get jealous of his brother and murder him and others? Will Bree and her team be able to solve the case before more people are murdered? What happens when the third victim hits close to home for Bree? Will she be able to get there in time? Will Bree and Matt get Adam a horse at the auction? Will Bree and Matt's relationship continue to grow closer? Do yourself a favor and read Lie to Her and the other books in the series by Melinda Leigh。 I love these books so much that when I finish one I'm sad because I have to wait a while for the next one。 I can't wait for book 7! I rate this book 5 stars。I'd like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of Lie to Her in exchange for a fair review! #LietoHer 。。。more

Lie to Her is book six in the Detective Bree Taggert series。 This book can be a stand-alone but the whole series is fantastic why would you want to miss out。 Just as Bree is settling down to watch a movie with her niece and nephew, she gets a call there has been a murder。 A man has been found by his date shortly after the murder。 His hands have been bound with zip ties and his face with plastic wrap。 The man told the woman he was dating that he was a self-employed digital marketer, but he is in Lie to Her is book six in the Detective Bree Taggert series。 This book can be a stand-alone but the whole series is fantastic why would you want to miss out。 Just as Bree is settling down to watch a movie with her niece and nephew, she gets a call there has been a murder。 A man has been found by his date shortly after the murder。 His hands have been bound with zip ties and his face with plastic wrap。 The man told the woman he was dating that he was a self-employed digital marketer, but he is in debt up to his eyeballs and works for Electronics Depot as an assistant manager。 It would appear the victim is less than honest。 As they investigate the victim, they are told he dates a lot by using dating apps which should give them more information on the victim。 Meanwhile another murder has been committed and it looks as if it is done by the same murderer。 The only difference is the first victim had "liar" carved in his forehead and the second had "cheat" on his。 Things are escalating pretty quickly as Adam, Bree's brother, goes missing。 This is a riveting and action packed read。 The characters are likeable and worth caring about。 The story continues from the previous books so there is continuity from book to book, which keeps the reader wanting more as the story continues from this to the next。 I received an ARC from NetGalley for an unbiased review。 。。。more

Rating edit: 3。5 stars。I like Melinda Leigh stories especially Bree-Matt chemistry is really cool, plus these two characters are good individually as well。 I can pick any book in this series without even reading the blurb (you can read them as standalone novels)。 Her writing style is engaging that makes the book engrossing。 It kept me interested even though I was able to predict。 However, I thought the last few pages dragged on。 When everything is clear, you begin to lose interest (especially if Rating edit: 3。5 stars。I like Melinda Leigh stories especially Bree-Matt chemistry is really cool, plus these two characters are good individually as well。 I can pick any book in this series without even reading the blurb (you can read them as standalone novels)。 Her writing style is engaging that makes the book engrossing。 It kept me interested even though I was able to predict。 However, I thought the last few pages dragged on。 When everything is clear, you begin to lose interest (especially if it's a thriller)。 The ending could have been crisper。 Also, I thought the involvement of snakes (throughout) was unnecessary, as it doesn't contribute to the story。 But, overall I enjoyed reading this book, and I would like to read the next book in the series。 。。。more

Thank you Netgalley and Montlake for the chance to read an advance copy of Lie to her (Bree Taggert #6) by Melinda Leigh。 This was a fast and easy book to read! Bree and Matt end up hunting for a serial killer who is targeting men who use a dating app。 While this is the 6th book in the series, you can read it as a standalone。 Plenty of plot twists, and some POV from the murderer。

Bree and Matt solve new murders with each book, but it’s their relationship that’s exciting。 So much respect and patience between them as if it’s always been perfect。 Leigh knows how to put just enough realistic possibilities to make these murders seem like they could happen anywhere。 The dangers of putting ourselves out there in the real world versus the internet, definitely scary。 We have a few chapters in the POV of the killer which was just enough clues for a twist。 Always a well written sto Bree and Matt solve new murders with each book, but it’s their relationship that’s exciting。 So much respect and patience between them as if it’s always been perfect。 Leigh knows how to put just enough realistic possibilities to make these murders seem like they could happen anywhere。 The dangers of putting ourselves out there in the real world versus the internet, definitely scary。 We have a few chapters in the POV of the killer which was just enough clues for a twist。 Always a well written story with real characters and heartfelt feelings。 I’m thankful for my early copy and wrote this review voluntarily。 。。。more
