Summary

Darkness Looms in the Dragon Lands   War is brewing。 New threats have emerged in Keledev。 The watchmen of Thousand Falls and the Windhold find goblin tunnels in the slopes of the mountain barrier that may hold many dangerous creatures。 At the same time, scouting missions into the Dragon Lands confirm that the dragons are building an army of tortured Aladoth villagers to destroy the Liberated Land。   To protect Kara Orso, the young woman Connor and Lee rescued, the headmaster sends them to the Second Hall to face the intrigues of the Assembly in her place。 Far to the south, the two cadets learn of an old weapon designed to end the war between the dragons and the Liberated Land forever。 To restore the honor of his family and renew the hope of his people, Connor believes he must find the weapon and use it to destroy the dragon leader。   While Connor, Lee, and an assemblyman’s daughter scour the Dragon Lands for the weapon, Kara and Tiran are drawn north into the Forest of Horrors on a mission of their own—to find and save one tortured man。 To succeed, both parties must face their fears and lean on the peace and strength of the Rescuer。

Bear Knight is an adventure filled sequel to Wolf Soldier。 As a lover of fantasy, I thrilled in reading this book。 All the elements of fantasy are there that I love, but also the beautiful Truth is interspersed throughout。 Though Hannibal warns in his author’s note not to get bogged down in the allegory, I find the allegory my favourite part。 To read a fantasy story and find my faith encouraged and strengthened is a wonderful thing。 The use of Scripture in the story reminds me to apply these Tru Bear Knight is an adventure filled sequel to Wolf Soldier。 As a lover of fantasy, I thrilled in reading this book。 All the elements of fantasy are there that I love, but also the beautiful Truth is interspersed throughout。 Though Hannibal warns in his author’s note not to get bogged down in the allegory, I find the allegory my favourite part。 To read a fantasy story and find my faith encouraged and strengthened is a wonderful thing。 The use of Scripture in the story reminds me to apply these Truths to the spiritual battle here。 The loving trust the cast of characters portray in their Rescuer remind me to keep my trust in my Creator。 This series is strong in the principles of faith, is an exciting and encouraging read。 I can’t wait for the next stage of the adventure。 。。。more

The life lessons and growth throughout this book made it difficult for me to put the book down。Most of the Lightraiders have gone through the five quests and earned their cadet standing, except for Kara。 Kara wasn't born into the Kaledan, or twice born, but accepted the Maker and his will into her life。 She then decided that she wanted to become a Lightraider。After finding out that one of her brothers is still alive, Kara wants the power she would have being a Lightraider to save him。She finds o The life lessons and growth throughout this book made it difficult for me to put the book down。Most of the Lightraiders have gone through the five quests and earned their cadet standing, except for Kara。 Kara wasn't born into the Kaledan, or twice born, but accepted the Maker and his will into her life。 She then decided that she wanted to become a Lightraider。After finding out that one of her brothers is still alive, Kara wants the power she would have being a Lightraider to save him。She finds out that it is the Maker's will, not hers that she must follow。 Although there are other characters and their growth journey through this book, it is Kara's that resonated with me the most because of the mental, spiritual, and physical battles she goes through and the perseverance she exhibits to continue forward I highly recommend adding both Wolf Soldier and Bear Knight to your TBR pile。As a caution, I would recommend parents preview the book before letting children read it as there are battle and death scenes。 This book is definitely for young adults and older。*I received an ARC of Bear Knight from the publisher and my review and recommendations are honest。* 。。。more

Bear Knight is a brilliant sequel to Wolf Solider, however I do feel as though it would be just slightly more enjoyable for a younger audience as it is definitely a YA/Middle Grade read rather than adult fantasy。 The message that unravels in this high fantasy setting is one of hope and faith, and very much feels like a christian take on the fantasy of old。I love the world that Hannibal has created and his nod to the video game world。 I highly recommend it to any video game lovers or readers who Bear Knight is a brilliant sequel to Wolf Solider, however I do feel as though it would be just slightly more enjoyable for a younger audience as it is definitely a YA/Middle Grade read rather than adult fantasy。 The message that unravels in this high fantasy setting is one of hope and faith, and very much feels like a christian take on the fantasy of old。I love the world that Hannibal has created and his nod to the video game world。 I highly recommend it to any video game lovers or readers who do like it a bit old school。The added perspectives in this book were also a happy change compared with the first book in the series and I can't wait to see what Connor and his friends must battle next。 。。。more

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5 stars)Bear Knight is book 2 in the Lightraider Academy series。 This sequel to Wolf Soldier is, in my opinion, even better than the first book。 We again get multiple character perspectives, and it’s all so well-written that there was no confusion for me which character’s POV I was reading。About a year has passed since the adventures of Conner and company in Wolf Soldier。 In Bear Knight, we once again follow our characters on various new quests and adventures。 Along the My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5 stars)Bear Knight is book 2 in the Lightraider Academy series。 This sequel to Wolf Soldier is, in my opinion, even better than the first book。 We again get multiple character perspectives, and it’s all so well-written that there was no confusion for me which character’s POV I was reading。About a year has passed since the adventures of Conner and company in Wolf Soldier。 In Bear Knight, we once again follow our characters on various new quests and adventures。 Along the way, we are also introduced to a few new side characters who become quite important to the story too。 I felt there was more action, more adventure, more character growth—and along with that—spiritual growth, and a lot more battling the forces of evil in this sequel story too。 As I wrote in my Wolf Soldier review, Kara was my favorite character even though she was just a side character。 In Bear Knight, Kara is now one of the protagonists。 I absolutely loved seeing her character development and growth during this story! I also love the allegorical aspect to these books。 As characters pray verses of the Elder Scrolls to the High One, the Christian reader is reminded of verses found in God’s Word and of the importance prayer should have in a believer’s life。 I’d recommend this series to fans of The Wingfeather Saga。 I feel it’s probably best for readers ages 12 and up。I’m looking forward to Book 3! I received an ebook ARC of Bear Knight from the publisher。 All opinions expressed in this review are my honest thoughts about this book。 。。。more
