Summary

Her chest tightens, her heart speeding up。 The kitchen is chaos。 She steps on something hard, and looks down。 Toy dinosaurs are scattered everywhere。 But her son is nowhere – her baby boy is gone。

The police arrive。 She can’t look at her husband。 Instead, she studies the network of lines on her shaking hands。

Then her phone beeps with a voice message。 ‘Listen to it on speaker,’ says the detective。

A woman’s voice fills the air。

‘I’m assuming this is the Andrea Gately listed as a contact on the Missing Children of the World website。 I’m calling to let you know that I’ve given your details to the police。 Why are you using a picture of my son on a missing children’s website? Why are you using it and where did you get it?’

This was my first Nicole Trope book and it did not disappoint! What a perfectly written psychological thriller。I LOVED the dual POV in this one。 My heart really went out to Andrea as she tried to navigate life in her new home with her not so honest husband。 Gabby appears as a saving Grace in Andrea’s life - however, just as all thriller readers know, things are not always as they seem! This is another great psychological thriller by Nicole Trope! Told through two points of view, Andrea, who is a young pregnant mother and Gabby, the woman across the street。 Both of them are keeping secrets from the other。This is a well written, gripping and fast paced book that I read in a day because I was so involved in it。Highly recommended!

Loved itI am really loving the books by this author! It goes back and forth between 2 women who live across the street from each other。 Each one of them feels that the other is hiding secrets from them。 There are so many lies that it made my head spin, BUT only in a good way。 Once I felt I had figured it all out, I would turn the page to find I was wrong。 Super story & great read。 I highly recommend it to everyone。

Thank you to Nicole Trope and Bookouture for this advanced reader copy。 The Stay At Home Mother is an engaging and page turning thriller which I personally found really thought provoking。 Very relevant for today's climate of 'living our lives online' and the constant need for information sharing and comparison against other 'perfect mums', I enjoyed the way this book tackled such topics。 A fast paced and exciting read, I thoroughly enjoyed it。 Thank you to Nicole Trope and Bookouture for this advanced reader copy。 The Stay At Home Mother is an engaging and page turning thriller which I personally found really thought provoking。 Very relevant for today's climate of 'living our lives online' and the constant need for information sharing and comparison against other 'perfect mums', I enjoyed the way this book tackled such topics。 A fast paced and exciting read, I thoroughly enjoyed it。 。。。more

(Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review。)This is the first book I have read by this author and unfortunately, I was not impressed。 It was a VERY slow read and I just couldn't get into it。 At about the 50% mark, it started to pick up, and then at the 70% mark, it started to zoom by。 The ending was good; it even included a twist in the epilogue。 It's just a shame it took so long to get exciting。 (Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review。)This is the first book I have read by this author and unfortunately, I was not impressed。 It was a VERY slow read and I just couldn't get into it。 At about the 50% mark, it started to pick up, and then at the 70% mark, it started to zoom by。 The ending was good; it even included a twist in the epilogue。 It's just a shame it took so long to get exciting。 。。。more

I’m not sure if it is officially a trope or if it has a name, but I’ve been loving books where the plot centers around the reader knowing there is more to the story than they officially know at the start。  The small hints that we can guess about (and are most often wrong LOL) but that slowly unfold throughout the read。 That describes this book to a tee。This is not my first read by the author and I love her outrageous storylines。  You will not have read this plot anywhere else。  It starts off wit I’m not sure if it is officially a trope or if it has a name, but I’ve been loving books where the plot centers around the reader knowing there is more to the story than they officially know at the start。  The small hints that we can guess about (and are most often wrong LOL) but that slowly unfold throughout the read。 That describes this book to a tee。This is not my first read by the author and I love her outrageous storylines。  You will not have read this plot anywhere else。  It starts off with a bang with the voicemail about using someone else’s child's picture in the missing post。  Then it casually switches to two neighbors that live across the street from each other that both harbor secrets。  They both seem so normal, but are they?  I had all kinds of wild ideas about the secrets the story hinted to and I can say I did have one right, but the rest were not even close to what I was imagining。  I love when I can guess something correct in a twisted book, but only when it was not an obvious guess。And just when you are let in on all the secrets, there is one more ready to catch you off guard。  I really liked this one。  It kept me guessing (even what I was able to guess, I didn’t know for sure until the reveal), it was a quick read, and the writing style made it so easy to read。  I’m not a mom so I didn’t really associate with either main character, but that did not stop my enjoyment。If you are looking for a quick, can’t put down book, you should give this one a try。 。。。more

Nicole Trope has become one of my favorite psych thriller authors, and The Stay-at-Home Mother is the perfect example of why she is so good。 In a nutshell, whatever story she is telling is really only partial。 It’s enough on its own, but if you’ve read her books, you know there is always another shoe to drop somewhere along the way (usually toward the end)。 In this case, Gabby is the stay-at-home mother in question。 She has an online following that commiserates with her over her troubles with he Nicole Trope has become one of my favorite psych thriller authors, and The Stay-at-Home Mother is the perfect example of why she is so good。 In a nutshell, whatever story she is telling is really only partial。 It’s enough on its own, but if you’ve read her books, you know there is always another shoe to drop somewhere along the way (usually toward the end)。 In this case, Gabby is the stay-at-home mother in question。 She has an online following that commiserates with her over her troubles with her teenage son。 When Andrea (very pregnant), her husband Terry, and their 3-year-old son Jack move in across the street, Gabby can’t help but offer assistance to a frazzled Andrea。 And Andrea is all too willing to rely on this virtual stranger who seems like the perfect lifeline。 However, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is…not true。 Not only does Andrea have pregnancy fog, but her husband’s “issue” rears its ugly head at the same time as everything else comes to a climax。 It’s really a perfect storm of distraction。 I don’t want to give anything away because, like any good psych thriller, the fun is in realizing what is actually occurring without any spoilers to wreck the enjoyment of the plot。 But I will say that even if you think you have it all figured out (which I did a few times) – there is still more that you will not guess。And that is why The Stay-at-Home Mother is a quintessential psych thriller。 Nicole Trope has cemented herself as an absolute go-to for a jaw-dropping read。 **If you like this review, please visit Fireflies and Free Kicks Fiction Reviews for more!** 。。。more

This was a great read。 Full of twists and turns that you think you know, then realise you don't。Andrea is a likeable character that you have a lot of empathy for - she loves her husband but ends up in a situation through him and through no fault of her own。I was suspicious of Gabby from the start but didn't really know why。 Something just didn't feel right about her。 As the story unfolds, we learn much more about her - or so we think!Definitely a recommended 5 🌟 read from me。 This was a great read。 Full of twists and turns that you think you know, then realise you don't。Andrea is a likeable character that you have a lot of empathy for - she loves her husband but ends up in a situation through him and through no fault of her own。I was suspicious of Gabby from the start but didn't really know why。 Something just didn't feel right about her。 As the story unfolds, we learn much more about her - or so we think!Definitely a recommended 5 🌟 read from me。 。。。more
