I don't think I've ever been so excited for a book before I read it, and then it lived up to my expectations! It was so nice having short, simple chapters that were easy to digest and that validated me in so many ways with my ADHD。 I noticed myself going "yup, I do that" to so many of the topics brought up and there were so many helpful hints that I can't wait to try。 I don't think I've ever been so excited for a book before I read it, and then it lived up to my expectations! It was so nice having short, simple chapters that were easy to digest and that validated me in so many ways with my ADHD。 I noticed myself going "yup, I do that" to so many of the topics brought up and there were so many helpful hints that I can't wait to try。 。。。more

I highly recommend this guide as a beneficial tool to place in your #ADHD #sanitymaintenance #skillbuilding kit。 <3 #NAMINYCAmbassador #SashaHamdani #NetGalley #SELFCARE #ADHD #nuerodiversity #procrastination #nature #volunteerFORselfcare #comobilities #supportgroups #therapy #strategies @Simon & Schuster AudioDestress, find your community, and practice self-love with these 100+ exercises to reinforce ADHD as a strength。When you have ADHD, it can be hard to stay on top of your wellness。 Self-Care for People with ADHD is here to help! This book can help you engage in some neurodiverse self-care—without pretending to be neurotypical。 You'll find more than 100 tips to accepting yourself, destigmatizing ADHD, finding your community, and taking care of your physical and mental health。 You'll find solutions for managing the negative aspects of ADHD, as well as ideas to bring out the positive aspects。 With expert advice from psychiatrist and clinician Sasha Hamdani, MD, Self-Care for People with ADHD will help you live your life to the fullest! 。。。more

I am excited to have a professional with lived experience adding their expertise to the available texts! However I wanted to like this way more than I did。 I do think there are people for whom this book would be very useful- particularly if the diagnosis is rather “new”。 My biggest complaint is that complex ideas are presented very simply。 Over the course of the book this began to get frustrating。

This book divides up the 100+ strategies for self care across several categories/groupings: emotional, physical, mental, and social self care。 Additional sections discuss career/professional self-care and practical self-care (finding doctors, driving and distraction, and other loose odds and ends)。I'm not sure most of what was in this book was particularly new and revolutionary, but throughout, I felt seen; I felt validated; I felt empowered。 I appreciated that it was written more as a list, bec This book divides up the 100+ strategies for self care across several categories/groupings: emotional, physical, mental, and social self care。 Additional sections discuss career/professional self-care and practical self-care (finding doctors, driving and distraction, and other loose odds and ends)。I'm not sure most of what was in this book was particularly new and revolutionary, but throughout, I felt seen; I felt validated; I felt empowered。 I appreciated that it was written more as a list, because I feel like I can draw on it more readily。。。and it made it easier and less intimidating to read sections of it as well。 Overall, I thought this was helpful! Thanks to Adams Media and NG for a copy of this book! 。。。more

It's nice to gain a better understanding of ADHD and look back on how I've handled things poorly and how I've grown and learned how to handle things better。 This book gave me some new coping mechanisms, healthier ,coping mechanisms。 Good read。 It's nice to gain a better understanding of ADHD and look back on how I've handled things poorly and how I've grown and learned how to handle things better。 This book gave me some new coping mechanisms, healthier ,coping mechanisms。 Good read。 。。。more

This book reads like a listicle with a laundry list of suggestions for managing ADHD many of which are helpful but it’s not written to be accessible for an ADHDer。 It’s a lot of information about behavior change without slowing down to explain the rationale and research (lots of citing “research” without citing actual studies) and it doesn’t provide any ADHD friendly implementation tips for the laundry list of behavior changes suggested。

This had some great advice, but it wasn’t anything I haven’t seen before。 I also wish some of the ideas were more detailed or had some examples。 Helpful for someone who hasn’t read much on ADHD or self-care
