This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I love Emily’s mission, work and wisdom and have read each one of her books。 She’s also inspires me to go after what I love, even if it looks different from what other people are doing。 I enjoyed Growing Boldly, especially parts 4 and 5。 The final few pages are what warmed my heart the most。 The only reason it’s not 5 stars for me is I felt like I had already heard some of the stories/messages on Emily’s social media or podcast, so it wasn’t a lot of new information or ideas for me。 But overall I love Emily’s mission, work and wisdom and have read each one of her books。 She’s also inspires me to go after what I love, even if it looks different from what other people are doing。 I enjoyed Growing Boldly, especially parts 4 and 5。 The final few pages are what warmed my heart the most。 The only reason it’s not 5 stars for me is I felt like I had already heard some of the stories/messages on Emily’s social media or podcast, so it wasn’t a lot of new information or ideas for me。 But overall it was a nice, uplifting read! 。。。more

I recommend the audiobook because she adds a little at the end to address the pandemic and I think it's a useful message for people to hear。 I wish more people were reacting this way。 I recommend the audiobook because she adds a little at the end to address the pandemic and I think it's a useful message for people to hear。 I wish more people were reacting this way。 。。。more

There were parts of this book that I really enjoyed: the beautiful design, inspirational stories, learning more about Emily。 I found some of the content beneficial and helpful in reminding me to seize my life。 What I couldn’t handle was the over-the-top religious tone。 It felt like every page practically referenced god and not everyone shares her faith or her god, so that part of the book did not feel very inclusive。 And, it wasn’t necessary。。。 I don’t feel referencing “god’s kingdom” was a crit There were parts of this book that I really enjoyed: the beautiful design, inspirational stories, learning more about Emily。 I found some of the content beneficial and helpful in reminding me to seize my life。 What I couldn’t handle was the over-the-top religious tone。 It felt like every page practically referenced god and not everyone shares her faith or her god, so that part of the book did not feel very inclusive。 And, it wasn’t necessary。。。 I don’t feel referencing “god’s kingdom” was a critical part of the message she was trying to convey about growing boldly。 I can handle a little bit of that stuff, but this book had WAY more religious references than every other book I’ve read by Emily and it’s super disappointing to me。 As someone who doesn’t share her views, it was gross and made me think this should’ve been clearly labeled as a Christian book vs。 coming across like an inspirational or personal development book。I admire Emily for her business acumen, follow her on social media, etc。, but I think she needs to be more inclusive in future books — not word vomiting about a Christian god that not everyone believes in that, I felt, really took away from what otherwise could’ve been a great book。 。。。more

I loved listening to this。 The author is one of my favorite influencers to follow。 I am so glad she read the audio book (a complaint of an earlier title I listened to。) I love her approach to simplicity (not always less but making room for more)。 This was a perfect fit for where I am in my life - trying to build the life that I love, being true to myself, and living life to the fullest - all with love and beauty。

I couldn’t even finish this。 I have read Emily’s other books and this one felt so surface for how it was pitched。 Yes it has prompts and questions to make you think about yourself but the stories she shares of how other people grew “boldly” just don’t go deep enough。 Especially if you’ve read Untamed, you’ll be disappointed。 As someone who isn’t Christian, I haven’t usually felt alienated by Emily’s books or Simplified。 But this was too much about G-d。 If you don’t share the same religion you mi I couldn’t even finish this。 I have read Emily’s other books and this one felt so surface for how it was pitched。 Yes it has prompts and questions to make you think about yourself but the stories she shares of how other people grew “boldly” just don’t go deep enough。 Especially if you’ve read Untamed, you’ll be disappointed。 As someone who isn’t Christian, I haven’t usually felt alienated by Emily’s books or Simplified。 But this was too much about G-d。 If you don’t share the same religion you might not like this。 。。。more

As a long-time Emily Ley fan it’s been awe-indpiring watching her grow as a person and now as an author。 All of her books provide a message on ways we can add depth to our lives。 The message in this one is becoming unapologetically you。 Actionable steps and nudges in the direction of getting out of your comfort zone and peppered with uplifting stories from her life and the lives of women she’s inspired by。 A truly beautiful book and I’m so glad she narrated the audio version。

2020 was a year where life was forced to slow down。 For me it gave a lot more time to think and reflect。 Growing Boldly was written before Covid happened, but couldn’t have come out at a more perfect time。 This book is like a blueprint where I can write down all of the things I’ve reflected on and be asked questions that I haven’t thought about。 It has set a fire under me to put into place those plans I made for myself for post-Covid life (and some things I considered long ago, but pushed aside) 2020 was a year where life was forced to slow down。 For me it gave a lot more time to think and reflect。 Growing Boldly was written before Covid happened, but couldn’t have come out at a more perfect time。 This book is like a blueprint where I can write down all of the things I’ve reflected on and be asked questions that I haven’t thought about。 It has set a fire under me to put into place those plans I made for myself for post-Covid life (and some things I considered long ago, but pushed aside)。 I have changed and grown。 Who am I now? Where am I now? What is important to me and how are I going to make that happen? I’m still figuring this out, but with the help of Growing Boldly I realize I have been on a path to build a life I love my entire life。 2020 put a magnifying glass on my life, my world was forced a bit smaller and because of this, it provided me with the opportunity to find perspective and clarity。 With my newfound perspective and the reading of this book, I have recognized some undeniable truths and those undeniable truths have helped provide me with a solid foundation to build on top of。 I highly recommend Growing Boldly for anyone。 It’s like having another friend in your corner asking you the tough questions and cheering you on as you continue on your path to building a life you love。。。 and are worthy of。 。。。more

I was lucky enough to find this book on the shelf at Barnes and Noble 2 weeks ago before it’s upcoming release date next week。 I love Emily Ley and her Simplified way of life, it’s refreshing especially in a society today that feels so hurried and busy。 The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that it felt a little preachy to me at times。 Overall an encouraging book and a reminder that we only get one life to live。 Favorite quotes: “Don’t ever ignore those little curiosities in your he I was lucky enough to find this book on the shelf at Barnes and Noble 2 weeks ago before it’s upcoming release date next week。 I love Emily Ley and her Simplified way of life, it’s refreshing especially in a society today that feels so hurried and busy。 The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that it felt a little preachy to me at times。 Overall an encouraging book and a reminder that we only get one life to live。 Favorite quotes: “Don’t ever ignore those little curiosities in your heart, the tugs that seemingly come from nowhere。 That, my friends, is a calling。” -Emily Ley“Let us remember to never get so busy making a living that we forget to live a life, to have the courage to flip what we think we know on its head, and to question why we’ve always done things a certain way。 That is where real change begins。” -Emily Ley“Our greatest joy isn’t found at the top of the mountain or even behind the gates of Oz。 Rather, joy is found along the bumpy, beautiful, broken yellow-brick road—with every imperfect character we meet, with every way we grow along the path, and with every battle we fight through, flying monkeys or not。” -Emily Ley 。。。more

I have had the absolute honor of being a member of the launch team for Emily Ley’s newest book, Growing Boldly。 This is so much more than just a book, this is an actual tool for building the life you want and deserve。 The publication date has suffered from a few delays but I think the timing is perfect。 As we get closer to life returning back to normal (whatever that means!) many of us are questioning what to do with this gift of life。 How do we want to do life, what do we want it to look like, I have had the absolute honor of being a member of the launch team for Emily Ley’s newest book, Growing Boldly。 This is so much more than just a book, this is an actual tool for building the life you want and deserve。 The publication date has suffered from a few delays but I think the timing is perfect。 As we get closer to life returning back to normal (whatever that means!) many of us are questioning what to do with this gift of life。 How do we want to do life, what do we want it to look like, how should we do things differently post-pandemic? I am truly honored to have been a part of the Emily Ley book launch and to have received this advanced copy。 I read this book over the last 2 evenings with a blanket, a hot cup of coffee and with my Simplified Floral pen, I took so many notes。 This book resonated with me deeply。 Emily Ley, the author of 3 other books: A Simplified Life, Grace Not Perfection, and When Less Becomes More, also the founder of Simplified。 She has now written her fourth book ‘Growing Boldly – Dare to Build the Life Yo I am truly honored to have been a part of the Emily Ley book launch and to have received this advanced copy。 I read this book over the last 2 evenings with a blanket, a hot cup of coffee and with my Simplified Floral pen, I took so many notes。 This book resonated with me deeply。 Emily Ley, the author of 3 other books: A Simplified Life, Grace Not Perfection, and When Less Becomes More, also the founder of Simplified。 She has now written her fourth book ‘Growing Boldly – Dare to Build the Life You Love‘ to what I personally believe to be more than a piece of literature or another book to add to the shelf。 This book is the nudge that we need to help point us in the right direction from a year that shook the nation and made many of us pause, reflect, and pay attention。 It’s a book about much-needed hope。 One of the most touching accounts to me personally in this book reminds us that even in our darkest moments when we can’t see in her words “Beauty can be found in the cracks and crevices of hard stuff we experience。 God wastes nothing。”Whether you are recovering from a pandemic or still in the darkest moments of your life, the words written shared on these pages will help you examine who you are, where you are right now, and who you want to be。 An especially valuable part of this experience to me was that each chapter includes a benediction and reflection questions to help you fan the spark in you to a fire。 It will get you to think and examine your life, find the embers, and fan them wildly。 If you are feeling stuck and alone in a deep dark valley of hopelessness, feeling you are a failure and just plain exhausted, I encourage you or the ones you know in this season to read this book。 As hard as it is to face, the reality is that building a life requires action and momentum。 You can’t stay still and expect things to change in your favor。 There is a stark difference between staying still and being still。 It’s wisdom that tells us to take shelter and be still through a storm, but we can’t stay there forever。 One of the most challenging moments of our life is being able to get back up when we fall。 We’d rather give up from the overwhelming, piled-up layers of doubts and lies that fill our minds。 Before we know it we feel suffocated and unable to see any glimpse of clarity or hope。 Emily reminds us in the book that clutter is the enemy of clarity。 So how do we grow boldly when we can’t take another step? Emily breaks it down from how a seed can eventually grow into an incredible flower no matter the storms that come along。 In this book, you’ll encounter true accounts from those who grew in these storms。 These accounts will inspire and help you break through the chains that are holding you down and holding you back and to stand strong on your story。 Emily writes “Consider that the most beautiful flowers grow from the tiniest of seeds。” As a gardener myself, I witness this fact every spring when my flowers break through the soil with so much promise。 Whether we’re starting a new career, healing from depression, or facing health scares, we need to have what Emily calls “Grit” to keep going and growing boldly。 The book states aptly that “You’re not helpless or hopeless, you’re not too old, too young, too inexperienced or the sum of your doubts。 You’re not your childhood。 The struggle is where you’ve made strong。” We must cultivate what is necessary within us to utilize our talents and dig out fears to expose them and build our life as boldly as we can。 In such a turbulent time, it’s crystal clear that we only get one shot at this life。 No matter where you’re at, it is YOU that gets to choose where to go from here。 Growing Boldly, the title and idea that this book revolves around begs us to understand that we must make our life count。 What will you do with yours? 。。。more
