First off I want to thank the author J。E。 Reed for giving me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review。 I absolutely loved this book。 It drew me in from the very first line and kept me hooked the entire time。 The tropes in this book include: enemies to lovers, one bed, touch her/him and you die and betrayal。 This book was a quick and easy read but if I’m being honest I never wanted it to end。 I absolutely loved the characters in this book especially Arianna and Rion (of course)。The en First off I want to thank the author J。E。 Reed for giving me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review。 I absolutely loved this book。 It drew me in from the very first line and kept me hooked the entire time。 The tropes in this book include: enemies to lovers, one bed, touch her/him and you die and betrayal。 This book was a quick and easy read but if I’m being honest I never wanted it to end。 I absolutely loved the characters in this book especially Arianna and Rion (of course)。The ending was perfect for setting us up for a second book and I can’t wait to be able to read it。 If you loved Acotar then I think The Divine and The Cursed is perfect for you! 。。。more

Thank you to the author, J E Reed, for providing me with a free digital copy in exchange for an honest review。 All opinions are my own。"She felt like every colour, constantly spinning, never settling in one place, because this feeling, this love was too strong to be confined to a single colour。 It was infinite and ever-growing, and she'd never tire of it。"First things first, this is not my preferred genre, but I've really enjoyed The Chronopoint Chronicles so far, that when the author asked if I Thank you to the author, J E Reed, for providing me with a free digital copy in exchange for an honest review。 All opinions are my own。"She felt like every colour, constantly spinning, never settling in one place, because this feeling, this love was too strong to be confined to a single colour。 It was infinite and ever-growing, and she'd never tire of it。"First things first, this is not my preferred genre, but I've really enjoyed The Chronopoint Chronicles so far, that when the author asked if I wanted to be an early reviewer for TDATC, of course, I jumped on it straight away。Anyway, I have to say that I went into this with some trepidation; the first couple of chapters were giving me The Cruel Prince vibes (which I hated, by the way), but I changed my mind soon after。The story follows our reluctant heroine, Arianna, who, though pushed to safety by her friend in the middle of a war, was captured regardless and sold into slavery。 For the last year and a half, Arianna has done whatever she could to survive, including keeping herself out of the males' beds, by disguising herself as a half-breed Fae。 Enter Rion, The Demon, the most ruthless, most feared male in all of Alastriona whose vile, abhorrent magic was enough to condemn him from birth, who now has her life in his hands。I found the first third of the book to be a bit of a slog; not because of the story itself but rather because I was kind of waiting for the pin to drop if you know what I mean。 This part of the book introduces us to the characters, some background, the build-up, setting up plot lines, etc which I did find to be a little slow even though it's not。。。Chapter 23 was my "yay" moment。 The rest of the story unfolds quickly after that and TDATC ends with a solid direction for the sequel。The characters were great; Rion is just a cinnamon roll, really and Arianna is a kick-ass lead。 Reed's writing style is uncluttered with short sentences so as not to get confusing, and although the world-building is a little too little, there is enough for the story and our imaginations。- Things to look forward to:- Enemies to lovers- Strong heroine- Forced proximity- Territorial male- Touch her。 you die- One bedOverall, The Divine And The Cursed is a good solid start to a new series and I, personally, cannot wait to see where book 2 will take us。 。。。more

Arianna and Rion are, at first glance, seemingly opposites, but then you realize they're not actually opposites, even though their titles couldn't be any farther from each other。The book was a fun read, especially the first half of it, and I honestly couldn't wait to turn the pages and。 find out what happens next。 There's a nice touch of introspection, pretty great dialogue, and Arianna's character changes enough that you can tell she's different from when we first met her, but not enough that i Arianna and Rion are, at first glance, seemingly opposites, but then you realize they're not actually opposites, even though their titles couldn't be any farther from each other。The book was a fun read, especially the first half of it, and I honestly couldn't wait to turn the pages and。 find out what happens next。 There's a nice touch of introspection, pretty great dialogue, and Arianna's character changes enough that you can tell she's different from when we first met her, but not enough that it would seem to quick and unbelievable。Also Talon。 Talon is the best cinnamon roll that deserves the world。Though, as much as I enjoyed it, I didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped I would, and it's mostly because of personal preference - with said personal preference being that I'd have liked it better if Rion and Arianna got together much later, if Arianna had a much more profound struggle when realizing her feelings for him, especially given all he's done, and if Rion's horrific and gruesome crimes weren't reduced all that much。These three things are just some nitpicks that I had, and, again, it's mostly personal preference, so please don't let this discourage you from reading 'The Divine and the Cursed' because it's a great story。Thank you to J。E。 Reed for gifting me a copy for this honest review! 。。。more

This book is GREAT! 。。。more

It was so well written?? And not confusing AT ALL! This book follows the story of Arianna, a princes from Moirin, and her growth form a fragile girl to a fierce woman。 The book starts with her as a slave, first at the hands of slavers and then at the hands of Bronach。 Who then hand her over to their general, Rion。 Also known as The Demon。 Then the epic love story between Rion and Arianna unfolds throughout the rest of the book。 Arianna was SUCH a likeable character, I honestly love her so much。 You’d think she’d be cold and callous after everything she’s lived through。 Like being treated horribly as a slave for more than a year。 But she’s so kind, and willing to help others。 There is a war going on between Bronach and Moirin but when Arianna comes across anyone injured, it doesn’t matter if they’re from her side of the war or the opposite, she’s still willing to help them。 The way she also defended Rion??? She was willing to kill for him, she was willing to die for the person everyone saw as a demon and a monster and that makes me love her just that much more。Now onto RION OMG。 Can he marry me please。 Rion, aka “The Demon” is honestly one of the best book boyfriends I’ve read about in 2022。 Like this man cares so much for Arianna, is willing to DIE for her, and is willing to KILL for her, and still doesn’t ask to be loved back。 Quite the opposite in fact。 I honestly feel so bad for him, and when I was reading his backstory I almost started crying because no child deserves that。 “Maybe I hoped the monsters would welcome one of their own。” I think that was my favourite quote in this whole book and it really helpstthe reader see Rion not just as a monster for all he’s done。 But someone who has suffered so much they HAD to become a monster or else they would suffer even more。 Basically I loved the whole book, all the characters were so lovable。 Except her dad and his brother jeez they need some self help books。 The plot was immaculately developed and THE PLOT TWIST IN THE END???? I need the second book ASAP。 But I gave it 4。5 stars just because…。 The blurb really made Rion seem like this whole monster, commander of death, but we didn’t really get much insight into just how ‘evil’ he really was。。? I just didn’t really find him that scary or mean。 I LOOOVE when the love interest is an a-hole and I was really hoping Rion would be like that but he wasn’t 😭 Also, I know this is a YA romance but I really felt like the characters could’ve had an even stronger connection if there had been more smut in the book。 But maybe that’s just because I only read dark spicy romance idk。 One last thing that made the book 4。5 stars rather than it being a 5 star read was the cover🙈 I KNOW I KNOW “don’t judge a book by it’s cover” but I’ve always been a person who’s really judgy with book covers I’M SORRY but the cover of this book just is not my cup of tea。 I feel like the red is way too bright and it overpowers the text of the title, making it a little hard to read。But over all this book was really really well written and I really enjoyed reading it, and getting to know Rion and Ariannas story。 So thank you to the author for kindly providing an eARC, I really appreciate you trusting me to read your work!!! <3 。。。more

This book begins by introducing the main character, Arianna, who has been captured and enslaved。 I really liked that the author does not give the full story upfront, but reels you in slowly。 You learn about her anquish and pain she is experiencing and piece by piece how she came to be there。 I really felt connected to both main characters。 Rion is the "demon" and is hardened from his own battles and pain。 The world building lacked a little ,but you can easily tell that is not the main focus of This book begins by introducing the main character, Arianna, who has been captured and enslaved。 I really liked that the author does not give the full story upfront, but reels you in slowly。 You learn about her anquish and pain she is experiencing and piece by piece how she came to be there。 I really felt connected to both main characters。 Rion is the "demon" and is hardened from his own battles and pain。 The world building lacked a little ,but you can easily tell that is not the main focus of the story。 Overall, I really enjoyed this book and the story the author created。 I fell into the story and had a hard time putting it down。 。。。more

I was given this book as an ARC。 This book had me feeling all of the emotions。 It’s got the grumpy/sunshine trope/one bed and forced proximity trope。 This book was a 5 star read for me with the no spice but the plot of this book had me flipping from beginning to end in one day。 This story sucked me in and kept me engaged the entire time。 This was such a good fantasy but without all of the unnecessary details。 You won’t spend 5 pages reading what the tree looked like in front of the camp。 I’m ITC I was given this book as an ARC。 This book had me feeling all of the emotions。 It’s got the grumpy/sunshine trope/one bed and forced proximity trope。 This book was a 5 star read for me with the no spice but the plot of this book had me flipping from beginning to end in one day。 This story sucked me in and kept me engaged the entire time。 This was such a good fantasy but without all of the unnecessary details。 You won’t spend 5 pages reading what the tree looked like in front of the camp。 I’m ITCHING for the next 。。。more

The book starts with a bang, the writing is easy to understand, the chapters are short, which just helps to pull you in and not let go。The suspense and the tension in this book, literally had me screaming。 Ugh I just, I can´t this book was just so good。 I might be blinded but the story and the romance just had me in their grip, and wouldn´t let me go。And the magic system was pretty cool, but I would have liked it to be more in depth。As for cons。 Where´s the world building?? And the changing POV´s sometimes had me a little confused。 But I might just be really slow lol。The book was a little gory at times。 As in, blood, murder etc。Some of the names, oh boy it was a little hard to pronounce, but that´s just because Irish is such a hard language! And the ending。 OMG! I NEED MORE!!! I´m already looking forward to the sequel。I´m definitely re-reading this book again。 。。。more

I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest opinionLet me start by saying that if you like romance, fantasy, enemies to lovers and “you touch her/him, you die”, this book is for you! I stumbled upon this book when scrolling through tiktok; I immediately knew I had to read this and couldn't wait to know the release date, so imagine my happiness when the author asked me if I was interested in reading an ARC of her book! I was beyond excited and ready to close myself in my bat I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest opinionLet me start by saying that if you like romance, fantasy, enemies to lovers and “you touch her/him, you die”, this book is for you! I was beyond excited and ready to close myself in my bat cave so I could enjoy it, but unfortunately life had other plans so it took me 3 days to finish it! Main characters Arianna is a young female that had to grow from naïve and sheltered to a warrior, capable of defending herself and surviving, and although I never disliked her, my “love” for her only grew with every page! She’s as strong and capable as she’s kind and warm。 “Because he was hers to protect now and she was his” Rion, aka The Demon, is one of the sweetest and most complex male MC I have ever read! Of course, he looks intimidating and scary at first, but I loved those first moments he starts to open up and show some vulnerability。 Their relationship loosely reminds me of Beauty and the Beast, because Arianna is the only one that sees beyond the monster and into his soul。 “Maybe I hoped the monsters would welcome one of their own。” My heart broke for them so many times。 I ugly cried a lot, so I craved the sweet moments as much as I crave chocolate ice cream。。。every damn minute。 “If anyone else comes after him, I will kill you。” Plot “2 countries at war, 1 Queen in hiding” - This is the main plot of the book, but true to its name, the story is centered around Arianna and Rion, even more than the war itself, although that’s what shapes their relationship。 The book is around 330 pages, so it didn’t bother me when the pace was quicker than what I usually like, and since the story is focused on the same 2/3 places, there’s no room for much world building, so I’m really hoping for a bigger second book, where the author explores more of the already beautiful world she has created! Writing This was the first book I read from J。E Reed, but her writing captivated me so much, I promised myself I’ll read many more in the future! Even when nothing major was happening, the way the descriptions were written kept me interested, and I can say with all honesty, that I never felt bored while reading the book。 As I said earlier, the book has a really fast pace, so that probably helped as well。 Ending With that ending, I know there'll be at least one more book, and I need it badly, and fast! I need more of Arianna and Rion and I need to know what happens next and how all the dots are connected。 I can’t believe this book isn’t even out yet。 。。。more
