I really enjoyed this book, just as I really enjoy almost all of Rick Riordan's work。 The problem with him putting out so many good books is that it can sometimes get hard to really appreciate just how good they actually are。 Anyway, this was a very enjoyable book, I'm looking forward to reading the next one。 I really enjoyed this book, just as I really enjoy almost all of Rick Riordan's work。 The problem with him putting out so many good books is that it can sometimes get hard to really appreciate just how good they actually are。 Anyway, this was a very enjoyable book, I'm looking forward to reading the next one。 。。。more

This has felt a lot like a Percy Jackson book, whereas the one before hadn't so much。 I felt immersed in so much history as well as the classic mythological stories that I felt really excited reading and learning more of that。It made me realise just how much I appreciated the romans (and I had sworn I was much more prone to the greek)。Anxiously waiting to start the next one as soon as I have the time。 It'll be interesting to see how Apollo will evolve as a character at last。 I just wish Rick Rio This has felt a lot like a Percy Jackson book, whereas the one before hadn't so much。 I felt immersed in so much history as well as the classic mythological stories that I felt really excited reading and learning more of that。It made me realise just how much I appreciated the romans (and I had sworn I was much more prone to the greek)。Anxiously waiting to start the next one as soon as I have the time。 It'll be interesting to see how Apollo will evolve as a character at last。 I just wish Rick Riordan would never stop writing about these characters and this universe。 It makes me all warm inside every single time。 。。。more

4/5 starsI’m so glad a certain character did NOT die 😭 I’m gonna stop on the 4th book and pick up the 5th book later since I’m in the mood to read something else first。

WOW。 WOW。 I LOVED THIS BOOK。 I couldn’t really start reading it until my school break started, because I had so much homework last month。 But now that I started and finished it, I can give a ✨proper✨ review。 I will say, if possible, I would’ve rated this 4。5 stars, but it definitely deserved the round-up。 The 。5 deduction would only be because it was less comedic than its predecessors, and it was slightly harder for me to become engaged in the beginning。 However, the pace picked up and it was ab WOW。 WOW。 I LOVED THIS BOOK。 I couldn’t really start reading it until my school break started, because I had so much homework last month。 But now that I started and finished it, I can give a ✨proper✨ review。 I will say, if possible, I would’ve rated this 4。5 stars, but it definitely deserved the round-up。 The 。5 deduction would only be because it was less comedic than its predecessors, and it was slightly harder for me to become engaged in the beginning。 However, the pace picked up and it was absolutely amazing from there。 Thinking on it, this may be my favorite book from the series because it really solidified Apollo’s character development, from when he was a God to where I am in the series now。 The way Meg and Reyna used Apollo’s genuine, selfless moments to replace Harpocrates’ feelings of rage and revenge (rooting from Apollo’s actions when he was his underdeveloped self) to sacrifice himself with the Cumaean Sibyl is a wonderful example。 Another way that perfectly describes Apollo’s current state was when Reyna said “Have you completely made up for all of the bad things you’ve done? No。 But you can keep adding to the good things column。 That’s all any of us can do。” That’s what makes this book, and this series, more extraordinary than the Percy Jackson one per say: Apollo’s complexity。 Whereas Percy was already a good person, with natural, outstanding skill, Apollo wasn’t。 Apollo did horrible things as a god, but his part-mortal experience coerced him into becoming the person he is now: strong, loyal, emotional, altruistic, reflective, and most of all, dynamic。 He constantly makes strives to add more deeds onto his ‘good things column’, which would’ve never been a blip in his mind, if he were still sitting in his throne on Mount Olympus。 I can’t wait for the final book! I already know the intensity is going to be at its peak, when Apollo and Meg face the Python, in its lair at Delphi, and Nero, the final Roman emperor remaining。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I rated this four stars completely because of the last 50 pages。 If not for Frank’s sudden return after his fake out death I would have been 2 or 3 stars。 I still loved this book though, and really want to read the last one。

slight spoilers!!i’m quite embarrassed to say that it took me a month to finish this, but we all have the occasional slump :)i did really enjoy it, though。 as always, rick riordan never fails to impress me with the amount of representation (especially LGBTQ+) in his books。 even though we didn’t get much action in this book through quests or long adventures, we did get to revisit camp jupiter and meet some of our old favorites like hazel, frank, reyna, thalia, etc。 while also meeting some new cha slight spoilers!!i’m quite embarrassed to say that it took me a month to finish this, but we all have the occasional slump :)i did really enjoy it, though。 as always, rick riordan never fails to impress me with the amount of representation (especially LGBTQ+) in his books。 even though we didn’t get much action in this book through quests or long adventures, we did get to revisit camp jupiter and meet some of our old favorites like hazel, frank, reyna, thalia, etc。 while also meeting some new characters like lavinia, who i have to say was the biggest highlight for me (she’s an icon)。 for the majority of the book they were preparing for the attack on camp jupiter taking place towards the end, which honestly made this book a little less exciting than the rest of the books in this series - for example, i didn’t get the same shock and emotion i got from the burning maze。 it felt like the book was mostly fillers until the end, when stuff really started to happen。 in a way, though, that made the rest of the book feel really warm and fuzzy despite not much happening。 the character interactions were really fun to read。as i always say when reviewing uncle rick’s books, i highly recommend this entire series, especially if you’ve read percy jackson and/or the heroes of olympus! 。。。more

The Tyrant's Tomb follows Lester/Apollo and Meg in their fight to restore the oracles and reclaim Apollo's status in Olympus, this time against the "dead" king with their comrades at Camp Jupiter。This is my favourite book from the series so far, as we witness Apollo coming to terms with being a human and therefore learning the multitude of emotions and limitations of a mortal that would have otherwise been foreign in his godhood。 He irks me a little in the previous books so it is satisfying to s The Tyrant's Tomb follows Lester/Apollo and Meg in their fight to restore the oracles and reclaim Apollo's status in Olympus, this time against the "dead" king with their comrades at Camp Jupiter。This is my favourite book from the series so far, as we witness Apollo coming to terms with being a human and therefore learning the multitude of emotions and limitations of a mortal that would have otherwise been foreign in his godhood。 He irks me a little in the previous books so it is satisfying to see him finally growing into character and shouldering his responsibilities (as he always does, but bravely and willingly this time)。The little interaction between Reyna and Apollo had me fangirling。 I like how Reyna's story is resolved at the end although this formula is kinda repetitive, (view spoiler)[these girls joining the Hunters of Artemis every two books or so。 (hide spoiler)] On the other hand, the story of the Sibyl and Harpocrates broke my heart—probably my favourite bit in the book。 The affection between Apollo and Meg is as lovely as ever, and I am looking forward to seeing how this will continue, and conclude, in the final book。One thing that bothers me is the Arabic name of Alexandria or al-Iskandariyyah in the book which is known to have been written backwards and disconnected。 I feel like RR could have gotten away with just describing the writing as Arabic rather than actually showing it。 。。。more
