Summary

Serilda and Gild attempt to break the curses that tether their spirits to Adalheid's haunted castle before the Endless Moon, when the Erlking means to capture one of the seven gods and make a wish to return his lover, Perchta, from the underworld。 But as the story progresses, it becomes clear he doesn't want just one god - he wants to capture all seven, and force them to bring down the veil that keeps the Dark Ones separate from the land of the mortals。 Serilda and Gild must try to thwart his plans, all while solving the mystery of Gild's forgotten name, freeing his younger sister who is trapped inside Gravenstone Castle, and trying to protect their unborn child。

The plot thickens! And thickens and thickens, woah。 Marissa Meyer keeps throwing things into the mix, but it all ties together and resolves just fine。 Nothing added is frivolous or forgotten。 Despite being a fairly complex, lengthy story, it’s well-polished and very enjoyable。 I loved finishing my ARC last night, sitting down for 3 uninterrupted hours to listen through to the end。Rebecca Soler continues to be a delight, as a narrator。 She gets a LOT of emotion into the voices of Serilda and Gild The plot thickens! Dear Cursed,I absolutely love fractured fairy tales。 Giving characters I grew up with new depth and connections is so much fun for me。 Marissa Meyer is the absolute queen of this for me。 You are a brilliant end to the story of Cyrilda and Gild, bringing all of the beauty of their story to a satisfying end。 You added so much more to the simple tale of Rumpelstiltskin and I loved it。 Cyrilda is a deep and interesting character, with heart and depth and a self sacrificing streak that amazes me。 Gil Dear Cursed,I absolutely love fractured fairy tales。 Giving characters I grew up with new depth and connections is so much fun for me。 Marissa Meyer is the absolute queen of this for me。 You are a brilliant end to the story of Cyrilda and Gild, bringing all of the beauty of their story to a satisfying end。 You added so much more to the simple tale of Rumpelstiltskin and I loved it。 Cyrilda is a deep and interesting character, with heart and depth and a self sacrificing streak that amazes me。 Gild lost some of his innocence and playfulness in your story, growing in ways I didn't know poltergeists were capable of。 There was so much more to your story then I was expecting, but in the end, every twist and turn made sense and helped bring you to the satisfying end I wanted。 。。。more

This was absolutely jam packed full of plot! I think this would have benefitted a bit from maybe splitting this into two books rather than one, however, then I would probably be impatient for the final installment if it were split。I enjoyed the conclusion of this, but also felt like Serilda's gift was very under-utilized and should have played a bigger part。 If you enjoyed the first one, you will no doubt enjoy this one as well。 I also highly recommend the audiobook!Lastly, I was so happy when t This was absolutely jam packed full of plot! Marissa Meyer is methodical when it comes to her plots。 After reading a second one of her books, I can tell she has the characters and story in the palm of her hand。 She isn't biased when it comes to the character's lives, making all things happy and good, but rather she spins a tale worth telling。 It truly is a work of art, the way she weaves the plot throughout the characters and how they all have an impact on how the story unravels。 I have a few questions left when it comes to the Erlking, bu Marissa Meyer is methodical when it comes to her plots。 After reading a second one of her books, I can tell she has the characters and story in the palm of her hand。 She isn't biased when it comes to the character's lives, making all things happy and good, but rather she spins a tale worth telling。 It truly is a work of art, the way she weaves the plot throughout the characters and how they all have an impact on how the story unravels。 I have a few questions left when it comes to the Erlking, but with the way the story ended, I'm content to leave those questions unanswered。 Thank you for the thrilling tale。 。。。more

I'm so happy! I was so unsatisfied by the conclusion of the previous book in the series (mostly because I didn't realised it was a dualogy) but 'Cursed' rounds everything up in such a satisfying way。 I had tears in my eyes more than once。What I really, truely love about 'Cursed' is the character of Erlkonnig。 It would be so,so, easy to make a love interest out of the murderous king who manipulates the main character but Meyer never crosses that line, which I appreciate a lot。As the conclusion to I'm so happy! This was a pretty good follow-up to Gilded。 Serilda is now with child (we still don't know how those logistics work), Gild is still a poltergeist, and the Dark Ones are up to no good (like normal)。 While a lot of this plot felt all over the place at times。。。 I still thoroughly enjoyed it。 This is a good ending to the duology because everything wraps up pretty nicely, but there is still a lot of action throughout the entire story。I'm a big fan of fairy tales, so I was very happy with both books t This was a pretty good follow-up to Gilded。 Serilda is now with child (we still don't know how those logistics work), Gild is still a poltergeist, and the Dark Ones are up to no good (like normal)。 While a lot of this plot felt all over the place at times。。。 I still thoroughly enjoyed it。 This is a good ending to the duology because everything wraps up pretty nicely, but there is still a lot of action throughout the entire story。I'm a big fan of fairy tales, so I was very happy with both books to include Serilda's versions of different stories because it felt like sitting in front of a fire and listening to your grandmother tell a wonderful tale。 I think if you enjoyed the first one, you will like this one just as well。Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

I have no idea why I needed a little extra push to start this duology。 I have no idea why I had to be granted a review copy from Cursed by Faber and Faber through Netgalley to read the first book。 I love fairytale retellings。 I love everything Marissa Meyer has written so far。 I have an endless fascination for the wonderful classical Schubert song about the Erlkönig。 This series was a perfect fit! And I indeed loved the first book and I was even happier that I could read on after finishing that one。I've rarely read a book where everything comes so beautifully together as in this book。 The first book was mainly one big build up and even in this second book it takes a long while before we get the feeling our characters are getting somewhere when it comes to their happily ever after。 But once the finale starts, once we know what's going on and what everyone's fighting for, it's impossible to put the book down。 And while reading the last chapter I ever shedded a few tears。Where the first book was very much a Rumplestiltskin retelling, this book is more about the wild hunt and the power of our heroine's storytelling。 I don't want to give too much away, I actually think the blurb already does, but there is so much mythology, such an amazing mix of myth and legend and it's amazing how the author builds everything up。 She left so many hints and gave us so much information and yet I only puzzled things together once they were almost revealed。I also loved the emotionally journey of our heroine and her prince。 During this book my heart has been shattered at least five times, but most of the times the author also glued my heart back together again。 I love how this romance isn't consuming the entire book, how both characters also function without each other and yet it's so clear that they love each other and they firmly believe that one way or another there is a future for them where they can live together。This is a story about stories and maybe it's the author who has been blessed by the God of storytelling。 Who knows with legends。 。。。more
