Actually， scratch that。 I had planned the first bit。 But I was supposed to be sold to the werewolves so I could save my friend from a fate worse than death。 Instead， the bloodsuckers have me and so far？ It's not going great。 I've been shoved into a corset and made to look like an extra on the cast of Bridgerton， all to take part in the Harvest Games—think The Bachelor set in the 1800s， but the men are all vampires， and then add a decidedly terrifying Squid Games element to the mix。

My goal—besides keeping the number of holes in my body to the current norm—is more than surviving。 It is escaping the inescapable， finding my way to the werewolf territory， and getting Jordan back。
Cue the political strife。
Armed with nothing more than a super sharp hairpin， my questionable charm， and an irrational amount of optimism plans to get both me and my bestie out alive are in full swing。
Until the General of the Vampire Army and his molten eyes light me on fire and leave me wondering if escape is what I want after all。

WOW！ That was one hell of an intense beginning to what is sure to be an explosive new series。 Right from the very first chapter， I was instantly transfixed by Sienna’s story。 The imagery and world building was outstanding and transported me to this dark and dreary setting where women are currently being auctioned off by paranormal beings。 It brought up some very harsh emotions in me and I was raging inside by what was transpiring right before my eyes。 It wasn’t a pretty and romantic start but on WOW！ That was one hell of an intense beginning to what is sure to be an explosive new series。 Right from the very first chapter， I was instantly transfixed by Sienna’s story。 The imagery and world building was outstanding and transported me to this dark and dreary setting where women are currently being auctioned off by paranormal beings。 It brought up some very harsh emotions in me and I was raging inside by what was transpiring right before my eyes。 It wasn’t a pretty and romantic start but one that was filled with pain， anger， heartache and debauchery。 Sienna instantly had me captivated with her strength and resiliency。 The fact that she purposely got herself captured to be auctioned off to save her brother， made her one hell of a badass to me。 But I feel that there are things Sienna is purposely keeping secret from everyone （including us readers）。 She is hiding something about herself that I can’t quite pinpoint yet and I can’t wait to see how explosive it will be once she lets her secret out。 The General （I mean DAMN！！） he is one fine， sexy vampire。 Possibly my new book boyfriend。 He’s fierce， grumpy， angry and filled with so much pent-up rage and anger that he is ready to kill anyone at any given time。 He also has so much pent-up sexual frustration that this guy is having a hard time controlling the number of boners he keeps getting。 I loved the connection that is slowly forging between Sienna and the General。 They have this fantastic love/hate relationship that is filled with so much sexual tension and desire that the two of them are ready to just explode at any moment。 When they finally give into this uncontrollable desire that is building up – I am sure that my kindle will literally melt into a puddle of goo。 Their sexual tension has my lady parts throbbing continually and pretty soon I am going to need to whip out B。O。B。 to take care of matters！ Brilliantly written story that is filled with phenomenal characters that are a little damaged， definitely unhinged， and slightly corrupt， and with a storyline that is filled with suspense， action， danger， drama， violence， and many deliciously steamy slow-burn moments。 And then top it off with one hell of a crazy cliffhanger ending that has left me wondering what the hell is going to happen now。 LOVED IT！！ Get ready to be taken on quite the bumpy rollercoaster ride of epic proportions that you won’t want to ever end。 。。。more

This was a great read。 I couldn’t put it down。 It was a surprise release and boy what a surprise。 Sienna is a firecracker and the chemistry between her and Dominic is off the charts。 However， they are two who should never have met。 Sienna is there to save a friend and Dominic is the leader of the military。 Cannot wait for more！！ So many twists and turns but just what I’ve come from reading from Shannon。

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review。This was my first read of Shannon Mayer’s and I am impressed！ Taken By Fate is a perfect blend of slow burn romance and urban fantasy; giving The Selection meets The Vampire Diaries vibes。Feisty and headstrong Sienna is human， attempting to rescue her friend who was kidnapped and taken to the werewolf territories。 But instead of the werewolves， she finds herself thrown into the vampire kingdom， competing in a competition I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review。This was my first read of Shannon Mayer’s and I am impressed！ Taken By Fate is a perfect blend of slow burn romance and urban fantasy; giving The Selection meets The Vampire Diaries vibes。Feisty and headstrong Sienna is human， attempting to rescue her friend who was kidnapped and taken to the werewolf territories。 But instead of the werewolves， she finds herself thrown into the vampire kingdom， competing in a competition with other human girls to be chosen by a vamp suitor。 Sienna must navigate the competition and survive long enough to find her way to the werewolves and her friend。 Throw in a sexy and broody General of the vamp army， a kind Prince， surprising allies， royal family drama and no shortage of danger around every corner which of course Sienna can’t help but constantly run into。 You get a very enjoyable and steamy， quick read。The romance is slow-burn but the lead up is very much worth it。 The world building was well done， blending modern America into this fantasy land with references to current pop culture thrown in here and there making the story that much more relatable。 Fast paced， witty， full of loveable characters and packed with drama， this was a wonderful introduction to this new world， and I cannot wait for the next book （especially after that cliffhanger！！）。 。。。more
