Summary

From bestselling superstar duo Shannon Hale and LeUyen Pham comes a delightful kitty and unicorn story that celebrates the magic of friendship—and being exactly who you want to be!

Kitty thinks she might be a unicorn。

She feels so perfectly unicorn-y! “Neigh!” says Kitty。

But when Unicorn clop clop clops over, sweeping his magnificent tail and neighing a mighty neigh, Kitty feels no bigger than a ball of lint。

Can this unlikely pair embrace who they are, and truly see one another?

In their first picture book together, the magical, bestselling team of Shannon Hale and LeUyen Pham put their horns together for the most heart-bursting, tail-twitching, fuzzy-feeling, perfectly unicorn-y story imaginable。

This is such a sweet story, encouraging kids and adults alike to celebrate our differences!

Shannon Hale and Leuyen Pham is one of my favorite collaborations in children's literature。 Seeing a picture book from them immediately made me smile。It's nothing earth shattering。 It's nothing immediately spectacular。 But a cat wanting to be a unicorn (despite its naysayers) is funny。 And then unicorn who makes everything better。。。。。oh it's just sweet。 Shannon Hale and Leuyen Pham is one of my favorite collaborations in children's literature。 Seeing a picture book from them immediately made me smile。It's nothing earth shattering。 It's nothing immediately spectacular。 But a cat wanting to be a unicorn (despite its naysayers) is funny。 And then unicorn who makes everything better。。。。。oh it's just sweet。 。。。more

Super cute story about being who you are no matter what those around you say。 Could even be taken a step further as being what you identify as。

WELL I HAVE A NEW FAVORITE BOOK。 So stinkin' cute and a nice (but not overpowering) message about being who you are and who you dream to be。 WELL I HAVE A NEW FAVORITE BOOK。 So stinkin' cute and a nice (but not overpowering) message about being who you are and who you dream to be。 。。。more

Oh how I miss my littles。 They all would have loved this and how fun it was。 We would have read it and then made unicorn horns for ourselves。

Kitty believes she's a unicorn even though Parrot and Gecko pooh-pooh her。 Then a unicorn comes along, and it wears kitty ears! The curse of the high expectations strike again! I love both Hale and Pham and was so excited to see another collaborator。 But this just didn't live up to expectations for me。 I think the illustrations are absolutely wonderful。 I like how cute Kitty is and I'm sure my unicorn obsessed students are going to love it! I was less impressed with the actual story。 First, I really disliked the parakeet and gecko that were constantly calling Kitty names。 Second, I think the actual plot took a long time The curse of the high expectations strike again! OMG。The level of cuteness in this book is MINDBLOWING。。。not to mention the FABULOUS messages of KINDNESS, FRIENDSHIP, and YOU DO YOU!All Kitty wants is to be accepted。 She wants to be seen for the fiercely fabulous creature she is。。。which is not merely a kitty, but a kitty-CORN! Yes, that's right。 She's a furrily magnificent, magically majestical stallion-like critter that everyone adores。。。and with her adorable little rainbow horn, how could anyone dispute her claims? Well, apparently Parakeet and Gecko can。。。and put her through her paces, they do in spades! Every time she makes her case, they point out all the holes in it。。。until one day, her shadow isn't really her's and she discovers not only her inner kitty-corn, but a true blue friend。I can't tell you how my heart melted when she found a fellow kitty-corn。 It was just TOO SWEET! I mean, being right is nice, but being kind is nicer。 It certainly was a taste of their own medicine to our bird and lizard antagonists turned wannabe kitty-corns。 *giggle* (Special note to readers。。。make sure you follow all the pages from start to finish to catch a glimpse of their attempts to become one of the horned few。) All in all, it was a beautiful reminder of how being true to ourselves is always in fashion, and kindness isn't simply an accessory, but a way of being。 **copy received for review; opinions are TOTALLY my own exuberant thoughts! 。。。more

I knew this would be good because of the author and illustrator。 It is。 I thought it would be adorable because。。。 Kitty-corn。 It is。 What I didn’t expect was how I would get teary eyed reading it because it has an incredible message about acceptance。 “I see you。” That’s such a powerful and simple message。

I loved the illustrations and most of the story。 I didn't like the name calling。 Used to provide rhyme, I think it would have been better to rework those lines。 I loved the illustrations and most of the story。 I didn't like the name calling。 Used to provide rhyme, I think it would have been better to rework those lines。 。。。more

The cuteness factor for this new picture book from the team who brought us Princess in Black is off the charts。 This little kitty dreams of being a unicorn。 Her friends parakeet and gecko are not helping her to achieve her aspirations no matter how many times she shows them her unicorn-likeness。 Leave it to a real unicorn to save the day and take care of the naysayers。 Who knew that the unicorn wanted to be a kitty-corn all along。 Thank you to Abrams Books and Edelweiss+ for a DRC in exchange fo The cuteness factor for this new picture book from the team who brought us Princess in Black is off the charts。 This little kitty dreams of being a unicorn。 Her friends parakeet and gecko are not helping her to achieve her aspirations no matter how many times she shows them her unicorn-likeness。 Leave it to a real unicorn to save the day and take care of the naysayers。 Who knew that the unicorn wanted to be a kitty-corn all along。 Thank you to Abrams Books and Edelweiss+ for a DRC in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

Kitty believes that she is a unicorn。 When Kitty looks in the mirror, she sees her horn and how tall she stands, and knows in her heart that she is a beautiful, tall unicorn。 Kitty can neigh, gallop, and has the perfect tail; but her friends remind her that she is just a fluffy, fuzzy, teenie, tiny kitty。 Until, a real unicorn shows up and brandishes his magnificent horn and tail。 Suddenly, Kitty realizes she is not a unicorn and feels really small。 Then, Unicorn shows Kitty his fluffy pink ears Kitty believes that she is a unicorn。 When Kitty looks in the mirror, she sees her horn and how tall she stands, and knows in her heart that she is a beautiful, tall unicorn。 Kitty can neigh, gallop, and has the perfect tail; but her friends remind her that she is just a fluffy, fuzzy, teenie, tiny kitty。 Until, a real unicorn shows up and brandishes his magnificent horn and tail。 Suddenly, Kitty realizes she is not a unicorn and feels really small。 Then, Unicorn shows Kitty his fluffy pink ears, and together they realize that they are both kitty-corns and together is the best place to be。 In this beautiful story of love, friendship, and finding where you belong, readers will be enchanted by this fluffy, pink, adorable story。 Shannon Hale and Leuyen Pham come together to bring a dynamic tale that will be an instant classic。 。。。more

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh。 Shannon Hale has done it again and hats off to Leuyen Phan for such fun illustrations。 And be sure to pay attention to the end papers as they are part of the story。 This book is so fun。 You can be a kitty or a unicorn or you could be a kitty corn。 LOVE IT!!!

Kitty believes she is a unicorn, but a couple of naysayers (Parakeet and Gecko) keep dashing her high hopes despite her practiced prancing and neighs。 It takes a real unicorn (and true compassion) for Kitty's identity to shine through。 After all, one kitty-corn will always recognize another! This (almost aggressively) adorable spin on friendship and acceptance will induce delighted squeals in young readers。 Thank you to Edelweiss and Abrams for access to this e-galley!
